Die Welt der Bibliotheksarbeit ist reich an spannenden Herausforderungen rund um das Urheberrecht: Von umfangreichen Buchkopien für Nutzer*innen, der Unterstützung von Lehre und Forschung, über die Bereitstellung elektronischer Pressespiegel bis hin zur Digitalisierung und Archivierung von Werken.
Das Buch ist ein lexikalisches Nachschlagewerk, in dem die verschiedenen urheberrechtlichen Themen mit über 100 Suchworten erklärt werden. Im Anhang sind die gesetzlichen Grundlagen und die Gesamt- sowie Rahmenverträge für die Bibliotheksarbeit zusammengestellt. Den Leser*innen wird so eine gezielte Orientierung in der Materie ermöglicht.
Mit der vierten Auflage wurde das Werk nicht nur aktualisiert, sondern hat auch eine inhaltliche Erweiterung und Vertiefung der Rechtsfragen, die im Zusammenhang mit der Digitalisierung der Bibliotheksarbeit und neuen Nutzungsformen wie Open Access stehen, erfahren. Die neuen Checklisten können bei der Bewältigung alltäglicher bibliotheksbezogener rechtlicher Fragen hilfreich sein, wie beispielsweise dem Umgang mit dem Kopienversand, Semesterapparaten sowie der Digitalisierung und Zugänglichmachung von verwaisten und nicht mehr verfügbarer Werken.
Das Buch richtet sich nicht nur an Mitarbeitende in Bibliotheken, sondern auch an Studierende, die sich mit Fragen des Bibliothekswesens vertraut machen möchten. Neu ist, dass das Werk auch als freie Open Access-Ausgabe zur Verfügung steht, die durch die Verlinkungen einen direkten Zugang zu den gesuchten Informationen und den Quellen eröffnet.
