Die Benutzung von Archiven wird sich in den nächsten Jahren rasant verändern und könnte zu einem Gradmesser werden, in welchem Maße sich die Archive an die Herausforderungen der digitalen Transformation anzupassen vermögen. Die großartigen technischen Möglichkeiten eröffnen den Archiven neue Perspektiven fernab von Magazin und Lesesaal. Aber das Tempo dieser Transformation ist hoch und ihre Erwartungen sind anspruchsvoll. Weder werden die Archive alle verwahrten Quellen digitalisieren können, noch wird die Erschließung der Digitalisate den Erwartungen der Nutzer genügen. Genutzt wird zunehmend wohl nur noch, was digital und online verfügbar ist. Damit wird die Nutzung mittelfristig nicht nur die Digitalisierung von Quellen steuern, sondern auch deren Erschließung und Erhaltung. Die Benutzung könnte damit faktisch zu einer zweiten Bewertung für die künftige Auswahl von Archivalien und Beständen werden. Das Revolutionäre an dieser neuen Form der Überlieferungsbildung ist allerdings, dass sie nicht mehr archivar-, sondern nutzergesteuert ist.
Die Digitale Transformation – kaum ein Beitrag, Kommentar, der ohne diesen Begriff auskommt. In der Wirtschaft schon länger unter dem Label „Industrie 4.0“ geht es um die umfassende Digitalisierung der industriellen Fertigung, im Kern also um Informationsverarbeitung. Auch in der Wissenschaft ist dieser Wandel, die digitale Transformation, zu sehen. Der Fachbereich Informationswissenschaften der Fachhochschule Potsdam hat sich dem Thema ebenfalls verschrieben und sich folgende Fragen gestellt:
• Was bedeutet die Digitale Transformation für die Informationswissenschaft?
• Wie sieht die Profession dies?
• Wird bzw. wie wird die Informationswissenschaft wahrgenommen?
Das Ergebnis ist der vorliegende Sammelband. Die publizierten Beiträge behandeln die Themen, die zurzeit die Informationswissenschaft beschäftigen. Nicht für alle Themen, die uns wichtig waren, konnten Autorinnen und Autoren gewonnen werden. Der vorliegende Band entstand im Rahmen eines zweisemestrigen Seminars an der Fachhochschule Potsdam, Fachbereich Informationswissenschaften unter Leitung des Herausgebers. Inspirationen für den Band kamen aus der Fachdiskussion, Diskussionen auf dem Bibliothekartag 2017 sowie methodisch aus Petra Haukes Projektseminar „Von der Idee zum Buch“ an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
„Digital Literacy – Was brauchen Studierende?“ war das Thema eines studentischen Lehr-Forschungsprojekts, das im Sommersemester 2018 im Rahmen des Masterstudiengangs Informationswissenschaften an der FH Potsdam (FHP) durchgeführt worden ist. Die Teilnehmer_innen des Projekts haben die Fragestellung spezifiziert und anhand eines selbstentwickelten Untersuchungsdesigns untersucht. Ein übergeordnetes Lernziel des Projekts bestand darin, einen Bezug des Themas „Digital Literacy“ auf die informationswissenschaftliche Fachdiskussion und die Anwendung in informationspraktischen Berufsperspektiven herzustellen. Die Ergebnisse fließen in ein Forschungsprojekt der FHP ein.
