- During the XXth century, at the Central European judaism of German culture emerged a flow of scholars who associated messinianism with the socialist utopia. We are focusing here two scholars who represent quite different variations of the utopist/messianic culture of Central Europe: Martin Buber, renovator of the Jewish religious spirituality; and Erich Fromm, a Freudian-Marxist of a secularized inspiration. However, both find in the Jewish biblical traditions the source of their utopist vision of a more humanized future.
