An Analysis of >Babbitt< from the Perspective of Consumption Ethics [消费伦理视角下《巴比特》的解读] [application of Fromm's theories to art]

  • >Babbitt< is the masterpiece of Sinclair Lewis, a famous American writer. By depicting Babbitt, a real estate businessman, the novel vividly demonstrates the cultural characteristics of American consumerism in the 1920s. From the perspective of consumption ethics, in the novel, the relationship between people and society is possessive consumption, people are distorted in interests, and self-personality is disappearing. It is of great value to explore the development of American business, the cultural spirit of Americans, and even the construction of consumption ethics in our contemporary society.
