Themenschwerpunkt des 11. Kolloquiums war „Vom Sensor zur Prozessintelligenz“. Diskutiert wurde damit über die neusten Fortschritte in der Messtechnik und deren Implementierung sowie über neue Aspekte der Modellierung und das Umsetzen, also das Leben des daraus generierten Wissens im Prozess.
Das 11. Kolloquium Prozessanalytik in Wien startete mit einem Konferenzvorkurs zum Thema Ressourcenanalytik. Bei der Erschließung, Förderung und Umsetzung von natürlichen Rohstoffen gewinnen analytische Online-Verfahren eine immer größere Bedeutung. Gleichzeitig liegen die Analyte jedoch in sehr heterogenen Matrizes vor, sodass die Ressourcenanalytik ein sehr herausforderndes, für Fachleute damit aber auch sehr spannendes Thema ist.
Für diesen interdisziplinären Brückenschlag fanden an den beiden Hauptveranstaltungstagen vier Sessions mit jeweils drei Fachvorträgen und anschließender Diskussion statt: Im ersten Vortragsblock Sensoren – „messen“ wurden beispielhaft neue Messtechniken sowie übergeordnet deren Einbindung in die digitale Welt über Zukunftstrends wie Industrie 4.0 oder die Technologieroadmap Prozess-Sensoren 4.0 beschrieben. Mit Automatisierung – „implementieren“ wurden in einer zweiten Session Herausforderungen aber auch konkrete Lösungswege bei der Implementierung von Messtechnik im industriellen Umfeld aufgezeigt. Die Vortragsreihe Modelle – „erkennen“ widmete sich am zweiten Veranstaltungstag der Fragestellung, wie Messergebnisse in Wissen transferiert werden können, wobei insbesondere entsprechende Erfahrungen aus der Bioprozesstechnik zugänglich gemacht wurden.
Ebenfalls am zweiten Tag war schließlich Life-Cycle-Management – „leben“ Titel der „österreichischen Session“ zum Schwerpunktthema des Kolloquiums. In den drei Vorträgen wurde gezeigt, wie einmal generiertes Prozesswissen durch gutes Wissensmanagement und dessen Werkzeuge nicht nur tradiert sondern auch transferiert werden kann.
Besondere Berücksichtigung fanden beim diesjährigen Kolloquium auch die fast 40 hochqualitativen Posterbeiträge. Neben den ausgedehnten Postersessions an beiden Veranstaltungstagen erhielten die Autoren in zwei Posterslams jeweils eineinhalb Minuten Zeit, ihre Arbeit vorzustellen und das Fachpublikum zu vertiefenden Gesprächen im Anschluss einzuladen. Damit rückten nicht nur diese wertvollen Beiträge noch mehr ins Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit, auch das Auditorium hatte so Gelegenheit, die Posterausstellung noch gezielter wahrzunehmen.
The modeling of waveguides by means of the Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method (SBFEM) has recently been addressed and is considered an effective procedure for the simulation of ultrasonic guided waves in plates and uniform structures, as well as their interaction with defects. This work presents the extension of the known applications like uniform concrete foundation cylinders to structures with more complex shapes and defects. The main focus is the required modeling of 3-D structures in SBFEM to solve these efficiently. Furthermore the coupling of different models is discussed. This involves models like a mainly uniform foundation cylinder with varying material behavior or geometry in certain areas which has to be modeled in 3-D SBFEM. With the presentation of numerical examples the accuracy and performance of the modeling is discussed and the advantages in improving numerical stability are shown.
Ultraschall-Transmissionsmessungen werden seit Jahrzehnten bei der Qualitätssicherung von Betonkonstruktionen eingesetzt. Aus den Wellengeschwindigkeiten lassen sich dynamische Elastizitätsmoduln und – nach lokaler Kalibrierung – auch Druckfestigkeiten ermitteln. Zudem ergeben sich Hinweise auf Risse und andere Materialschwächungen. Der Einsatz erfolgt vor allem im Labor oder an der Bauwerksoberfläche. Neuerdings werden auch Monitoringsysteme mit eingebetteten Sensoren auf Ultraschallbasis erfolgreich getestet. Die Talsperre Eibenstock dient als größte Sperre in Sachsen der Trinkwasserversorgung und dem Hochwasserschutz. Hier wurden während der Bauphase im Jahr 1979 im Fußbereich des Mauerkörpers Ultraschallsensoren eingebracht, die in Verbindung mit einem Messoszilloskop eine Überwachung der Erhärtung des Mauerbetons ermöglichten.
Der für die Sensorauswahl eingesetzte Messstellenumschalter wurde im September 2011 grundlegend instand gesetzt. Danach zeigte sich, dass die eingebetteten Sensoren selbst sowie die Verkabelung auch nach über fünfunddreißig Jahren in einwandfreiem Zustand sind. Eine nunmehr aufgelegte Messserie mit modernem Gerät von über einem Jahr mit ein- bis zweimonatigen Intervallen zeigte, dass die Wellengeschwindigkeit seit der Bauphase noch einmal um gut 10 % zugenommen hat, was für eine erhöhte Druckfestigkeit spricht. Innerhalb des Jahres zeigten sich auch bei Einsatz neuer, sehr sensibler Auswertemethoden (sog. Codawelleninterferometrie) nur geringfügige Schwankungen. Diese waren auch nicht zu erwarten, da sich die Füllhöhe zu den Messzeitpunkten nur gering unterschied, die Temperatur im Bauwerksinneren nur wenig schwankte und der Bauwerkszustand sehr gut ist.
Die Aussagen zur Betongüte sind direkt vergleichbar mit den früheren Mess- und Untersuchungsergebnissen an der Talsperre Gottleuba, die im gleichen Zeitraum errichtet wurde und ebenfalls mit einem Ultraschallsystem ausgerüstet war. Die Experimente zeigten, dass ein Einsatz von Ultraschallsystemen für die Bauwerksüberwachung auch über Jahrzehnte möglich ist. Dies war im vorliegenden Fall nie geplant, aber durch den Einsatz der Mitarbeiter vor Ort und der Herstellerfirma möglich. Bei zukünftigen Systemen ist eine langfristige Planung unter Einbeziehung aller Beteiligten sowie eine Einbindung in Überwachungs- und Wartungspläne notwendig, damit die qualitätsgesichert gewonnen Daten gewinnbringend genutzt werden können.
In civil engineering, the corrosion of steel reinforcements in structural elements of concrete bares a risk of stability-reduction, mainly caused by the exposure to chlorides. 3D computed tomography (CT) reveals the inner structure of concrete and allows one to investigate the corrosion with non-destructive testing methods. To carry out such investigations, specimens with a large artificial crack and an embedded steel rebar have been manufactured. 3D CT images of those specimens were acquired in the original state. Subsequently three cycles of electrochemical pre-damaging together with CT imaging were applied. These time series have been evaluated by means of image processing algorithms to segment and quantify the corrosion products. Visualization of the results supports the understanding of how corrosion propagates into cracks and pores. Furthermore, pitting of structural elements can be seen without dismantling. In this work, several image processing and visualization techniques are presented that have turned out to be particularly effective for the visualization and segmentation of corrosion products. Their combination to a workflow for corrosion analysis is the main contribution of this work.

Though, the mechanism of HAC is not completely understood yet and thus suitable methods for in situ investigations to characterise the crack formation are needed. X-ray computed tomography (CT) is a well-known tool for analysing these properties. However, the effective resolution of the detector system limits the detection of small defects by CT. Analyser based imaging (ABI) takes advantage of x-ray refraction at interfaces between volumes of different density, i.e. of cracks, pores, inclusions, etc., within the sample to detect defects smaller than the resolution of the detector system. In this study, measurements on an aluminium alloy weld showed that ABI allows us to resolve the 3D structure of cracks undetected by absorption based CT. Prospective investigations will analyse HAC in steels.

To better understand the mechanism of hydrogen assisted cracking (HAC), it is important to investigate the 3D structure of the cracks non-destructively. Since, cracks introduced by HAC are usually very small, conventional x-ray imaging methods often lack the required spatial resolution.
However, the detection of those cracks can be enhanced by taking advantage of refraction at interfaces within the sample.
To image this refractive deflection we employ analyser based imaging (ABI). In this work we aim at proving the enhanced crack detection of ABI by investigating an alluminum alloy weld.
Die messtechnische Erfassung von Bauwerkschäden ist eine wichtige Voraussetzung für die dreidimensionale und zeitaufgelöste Darstellung von möglicherweise sicherheitsrelevanten Veränderungen an Bauwerken, wie z. B. Verformungen, Verwindungen und Risswachstum. Ziel des vorgestellten Projektes war die Entwicklung eines Verfahrens zur effizienten und wiederholbaren 3D-Schadenkartierung an zum Teil empfindlichen Bauteiloberflächen.
Silicate bioceramics possess an excellent bioactivity; however, shaping them into complex geometries is still challenging. Therefore, this paper aims to present a new strategy for the shaping of a bioglass-ceramic with controlled geometry and properties starting from a glass powder combined with a preceramic polymer, i.e. a silicon resin, and reactive fillers. The powder-based three-dimensional (3D)-printing of wollastonite (CaSiO3)-based silicate bioceramic parts was demonstrated in this work. The resin plays a dual role, as it not only acts as a non-sacrificial binder for the filler powders in the printing process but it also reacts with the fillers to generate the desired bioceramic phases. The mechanical and physical properties, i.e. ball-on-three-balls test, density, porosity and morphology, were evaluated in 3D-printed discs. These samples possessed a total porosity around 64 vol% and a biaxial flexural strength around 6 MPa. The raw materials used in this work also enabled the 3D-printing of scaffolds possessing a designed multi-scale porosity, suitable bioceramic phase assemblage and a compressive strength of 1 MPa (for cylindrical scaffolds with total porosity ~80 vol%). Solubility in TRIS/HCl and in vitro assays, i.e. viability, cytotoxicity and apoptosis assays, were also performed. In vitro tests indicated good cell viability and no cytotoxicity effect on the cells.
Das interdisziplinäre Doktorandenseminar, das unter den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern mittlerweile als echter Geheimtipp gehandelt wird, startete dieses Mal gleich in medias res mit einem Design-Thinking-Workshop zum Thema "Prozessanalytik für Industrie 4.0". Das Thema ist derzeit in aller Munde, erfährt eine eigene Dynamik und es wird hierzulande kräftig an Roadmaps und White Papers gestrickt. So kam aus Fachkreisen der VDI/GMA und NAMUR der Vorschlag, die Generation der zukünftigen Kolleginnen und Kollegen zu dem Thema zu befragen, die die heute verbrochenen Konzepte zukünftig selber ausbaden müssen.
Die Vorträge der nächsten beiden Tage umfassten wieder ein sehr breites und interdisziplinäres Themen-, Methoden- und Anwendungsspektrum. Neben lumineszenten Temperatursensoren in Mikrochipreaktoren, Mikromischer NMR-Detektion und in Arbeitsschutzkleidung integrierte Chemosensorik folgten einige Vorträge zu Verbesserungen und neunen Konzepten von Biosensoren sowie für Immuno-Micorarray-Verfahren. Die ebenfalls diskutierten Identifizierungs- und Quantifizierungsverfahren reichten von der Kokskohle bis zur Arzneitablette. Desweiteren wurde der Bogen von lumineszenten Nanopartikeln zu Kalibrationsstandards für Trübungssonden gespannt. Neben den Erzeugen der Daten ist ein intelligentes Datenmanagement notwendig um die Informationen auch zu verarbeiten und entsprechend dem User zu präsentieren.
Die interdisziplinäre Ausrichtung und Vielfalt der verschiedenen Forschungsbereiche spiegelte sich auch in den Postersession wieder. Die Themen umfassten etwa Softsensoren für die Regelung von CHO-Zellkultivierungen, Prozessanalytik für die Reaktivabsorption von CO2 aus industriellen Gasströmen oder Alkoholmarker in menschlichem Haar, um nur einige zu nennen.
