Efforts are rising in opening up science by making data more transparent and more easily available, including the data reduction and evaluation procedures and code. A strong foundation for this is the F.A.I.R. principle, building on Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse of digital assets, complemented by the letter T for trustworthyness of the data. Here, we have used data, which was made available by the Institute Laue-Langevin and can be identified using a DOI, to follow the F.A.I.R.+T. principle in extracting, evaluating and publishing triple axis data, recorded at IN3.
Phase stability of AISI 304 stainless steel during sliding wear at extremely low temperatures
(2003)
For applications at extremely low temperatures of a few Kelvin, austenitic FeCrNi alloys usually are employed due to their beneficial mechanical and magnetic properties. These properties depend on the stability of the austenitic microstructure, since transformation into martensite leads to a loss of ductility as well as to the formation of ferromagnetic regions. The necessary conditions for the transformation into martensite are present in case of components subjected to friction, e.g. in machine parts used for transportation of cryogens, especially of liquid hydrogen. The transformation behaviour at low temperatures is studied on friction stressed FeCrNi steel AISI 304 by magnetic measurements and by diffraction methods.
DICONDE in der ZfP
(2023)
DICONDE (Digital Imaging and Communication in Non-Destructive Testing) is an open international standard for storing and exchanging industrial test data and process-related information. The DICONDE standard defines both the semantics for structured storage of data and the network-based communication between two endpoints. This allows many test processes to be mapped digitally and securely, while at the same time meeting normative requirements such as traceability to the tester and test object and reproducibility of test results.
