Are there regulations for pre- and post prints?
Publication of pre- and post prints is legally possible and desirable in many cases. Several studies have shown that Open Access secondary publications increase citation frequency. Studies on the subject of impact analysis may be found under The Open Citation Project - Reference Linking and Citation Analysis for Open Archives.
In many cases, closed access publications may also be published open access in compliance with certain conditions (e.g. embargo period). You can search the respective conditions of the publishers via Sherpa Romeo: https://v2.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/.
