Determination of carcinogen 4,4’-diamino diphenyl methane (MDA) in polyols derived from flexible polyurethane foam solvolysis by combination of SEC and GC/MS
- A method is presented to determine the concentration of the carcinogen 4,4’-diamino diphenyl methane (MDA) in polyols derived from polyurethane flexible foam solvolysis by combination of size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC/MS). The first step of the method is the separation of the MDA containing fraction by SEC while the second step consists in the quantitative analysis of the MDA amount by GC/MS. Quantitation limits of the method are lower than 0.05 % MDA in the polyol samples with an accuracy of ± 12 % of the determined values.
