TY - THES A1 - Gautam, T1 - Investigation of electrochemical recycling process for lithium-ion battery based on model solutions N2 - This work is a combination of, a literature study of various lithium-ion battery (LIB) recycling processes and the lab-scale experiment for electrochemical recycling of lithium-ion batteries. In the theory work, a study was done on the state of the art of LIB recycling processes. Additionally, the role of LIB recycling industries on cathode material recycling, economic state, and price evolution of the cathode material was discussed. In the experiment part, an investigation was done to recover cobalt and lithium from the model solutions. The model solution was prepared similar to wastewater from LIB recycling process that contains Li+ and Co2+ ions. Cobalt was recovered by electrochemical techniques from that solution. The experiment was performed at different pH values of the model solution. According to X-ray fluorescence, the percentage of deposited cobalt at pH 0.95, 1.90, 2.45, 3.85, 4.65, and 5.90 was 21.31%, 97.40%, 96.80%, 92.60%, 94.36%, and 90.47% respectively. The percentage recovery of cobalt was higher at the lowest pH value.
