This chapter describes the practical advantages of implementing a structured diagnostic procedure for bereaved individuals with suspected prolonged and traumatic grief. It provides a step-by-step practical guideline for the diagnostic process with formulation aids and behavioral instructions. Suggestions are presented on how the interviewer can deal with special situations and/or special populations in order to promote valid diagnostic results. This chapter therefore aims not only to encourage the implementation of a structured diagnostic process for bereaved individuals but also to provide practical examples of how this can be put into practice.
