Novel hybrid admixtures for construction applications were prepared by layer-by-layer deposition technique. Colloidal core templates consisting of styrene/n-butylacrylate latex particles were coated with multilayers of superplasticizers commonly used in concrete. This way, core-shell particles possessing both dispersing and film-forming properties were achieved. Incorporation of the latex@dispersant hybrid additive into a cement paste results in a slow release of the superplasticizer as a result of gradual shell disintegration which instigates prolonged plastification (long ”slump life”) of the cement slurry. Once the shell has been dissolved, latex particles are released into the pore solution and can coalesce into a polymer film which improves the mechanical properties of the hardened cement. Characterization of the templates and novel additives was performed by means of zeta potential measurement, dynamic light scattering and electron microscopy. Our method allows to synthesize multifunctional additives with time-controlled release effect.
Novel microcapsules were prepared from colloidal core–shell particles by acid dissolution of the organic core. Weakly crosslinked, monodisperse and spherical melamine-formaldehyde polycondensate particles (diameter ∼ 1 μm) were synthesized as core template and coated with multilayers of an anionic polyelectrolyte via layer-by-layer deposition technique. As polyelectrolytes, an anionic naphthalenesulfonate formaldehyde polycondensate that is a common concrete superplasticizer and thus industrially available, and cationic poly(allylamine hydrochloride) were used. Core removal was achieved by soaking the core–shell particles in aqueous hydrochloric acid at pH 1.6, resulting in hollow microcapsules consisting of the polyelectrolytes. Characterization of the template, the core–shell particles, and the microcapsules plus tracking of the layer-by-layer polyelectrolyte deposition was performed by means of zeta potential measurement and scanning electron microscopy. The microcapsules might be useful as microcontainers for cement additives.
Several methods were employed to study the time dependent film formation of a self synthesized anionic latex dispersion in water and cement pore solution. First, a model carboxylated styrene/n-butyl acrylate latex dispersion possessing a minimum film forming temperature (MFFT) of 18 °C and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 30 °C was synthesized via emulsion polymerization. Next, its film forming behaviour was studied at 40 °C, using an ESEM instrument. The analysis revealed that upon removal of water, film formation occurs as a result of particle packing, particle deformation and finally particle coalescence. Film formation is significantly hindered in synthetic cement pore solution. This effect can be ascribed to adsorption of Ca2+ ions onto the surface of the anionic latex particles and to interfacial secondary phases. This layer of adsorbed Ca2+ ions hinders interdiffusion of the macromolecules and subsequent film formation of the latex polymer.
People can exert control over the contents of their memory and can intentionally forget information when cued to do so. The present study examined such intentional forgetting in older adults using the listwise directed forgetting (DF) task. We replicated prior work by finding intact forgetting in young-old adults (up to 75 years). Extending the prior work, we additionally found forgetting to decline gradually with individuals' age and to be inefficient in old-old adults (above 75 years). The results indicate that listwise DF is a late-declining capability, suggesting a deficit in very old adults' episodic memory control.

The spectroscopy of molecules doped into superfluid helium droplets provides information on both, the dopant molecule and the helium environment. Electronic spectra of 9,10-dichloroanthracene in helium droplets are presented and compared with corresponding gas phase spectra to unravel the influence of the helium environment. The combined investigation of fluorescence excitation and dispersed emission provides information on dynamic processes in addition to energetic conditions. For vibronic states, the helium induced decay channels dominate over all intramolecular channels that contribute to the gas phase behavior. In addition to the triplet splitting caused by the Cl isotopes, a fine structure resolved for all transitions in the fluorescence excitation spectrum was found, which is the signature of microsolvation of this compound in helium droplets. This fine structure is identified as a single pure molecular transition accompanied by a sharply structured phonon wing. The corresponding fine structure measured for bare anthracene shows remarkable differences.
We show that a 450 fs nonresonant, moderately intense, linearly polarized laser pulse can induce field-free molecular axis alignment of methyliodide (CH3I) molecules dissolved in a helium nanodroplet. Time-resolved measurements reveal rotational dynamics much slower than that of isolated molecules and absence of the sharp transient alignment recurrences characteristic of gas phase molecules. Our results presage a range of new opportunities for exploring both molecular dynamics in a dissipative environment and the properties of He nanodroplets.
A moderately intense, nonresonant, linearly polarized nanosecond laser pulse is used to induce one-dimensional (1D) adiabatic alignment of 1,4 diiodobenzene (C6H4I2), iodobenzene (C6H5I), and methyliodide (CH3I) molecules dissolved in helium nanodroplets. The alignment sharpens as the laser intensity is increased, similar to the behavior in gas phase. For diiodobenzene the highest degree of alignment, ⟨cos2θ2D⟩=0.90, is essentially identical to the value obtained for isolated molecules in a supersonic beam, whereas the highest degrees of alignment for iodobenzene and for methyliodide in helium droplets fall below the values obtained for isolated molecules. We believe this is due to the deviation from axial recoil in the Coulomb explosion process that probes the alignment of the molecules in the He droplets.
After almost two decades of high resolution molecular spectroscopy in superfluid helium droplets, the understanding of microsolvation is still the subject of intense experimental and theoretical research. According to the published spectroscopic work including microwave, infrared, and electronic spectroscopy, the latter appears to be particularly promising to study microsolvation because of the appearance of pure molecular transitions and spectrally separated phonon wings. Instead of studying the very details of the influence of the helium environment for one particular dopant molecule as previously done for phthalocyanine, the present study compares electronic spectra of a series of non-polar porphyrin derivatives when doped into helium droplets consisting of 104–105 helium atoms. Thereby, we focus on the helium-induced fine structure, as revealed most clearly at the corresponding electronic origin. The interpretation and the assignment of particular features obtained in the fluorescence excitation spectra are based on additional investigations of dispersed emission spectra and of the saturation behavior. Besides many dopant-specific results, the experimental study provides strong evidence for a particular triple peak feature representing the characteristic signature of helium solvation for all seven related dopant species.
The mixed-field orientation of an asymmetric-rotor molecule with its permanent dipole moment nonparallel to the principal axes of polarizability is investigated experimentally and theoretically. We find that for the typical case of a strong, nonresonant laser field and a weak static electric field complete 3D orientation is induced if the laser field is elliptically polarized and if its major and minor polarization axes are not parallel to the static field. For a linearly polarized laser field solely the dipole moment component along the most polarizable axis of the molecule is relevant resulting in 1D orientation even when the laser polarization and the static field are nonparallel.
Simulations show that the dipole moment component perpendicular to the most-polarizable axis becomes relevant in a strong dc electric field combined with the laser field. This offers an alternative approach to 3D orientation by combining a linearly polarized laser field and a strong dc electric field arranged at an angle equal to the angle between the most polarizable axis of the molecule and its permanent dipole moment.
In today’s business practice, but also in academic research the aspect of competencies has gained remarkable importance. Competencies are not only a central part of the strategy process of a company. Corporate Strategy literature states that that human asset in particular can fulfil the criterion ’of a sustainable competitive advantage’ (Storey, 2007). The utilization of competencies is a key target of companies, as it is important in realizing a full return on investment. The paper analyses the state-of-the-art of competence theories with a specific recognition to the aspect of social capital. The author argues that the management of company competencies is a contributor to the utilization of competencies and links these aspects to social capital. In order to achieve the main goal of the underlying work the paper is structured as follows: first, the presentation of the state of the art in the area of competencies and social capital based on literature review; afterwards, the discussion is made in order to prove the main hypothesis. As a result the author concludes with a model showing the key bond between company competencies, individual competencies and social capital. With this, the paper contributes to a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of competencies for business managers and scientist. The findings are valuable to contribute to the utilization of individual competencies especially in the prism of social capital which will pay off for industrial companies and employees in long term. This is especially valid in an environment of skilled worker shortage.
The purpose of this article is to discuss different approaches in the values-based culture literature and identify research challenges and inconsistencies regarding the topic. From this, the authors develop applicable recommendations for scientists and managers. The study is based on an intense literature review on values, their definition, their measurement and management. These aspects are linked to each other in a further step. The authors link different perspectives on definition, measurement, analysis, and the management of values to a comprehensive picture. The measurement of values is seen to be a basis for the ability to be clear in communication, to monitor congruencies between beliefs and practices and to integrate personal values and the ethical framework of the company. The target of managing values is to be seen in a successful implementation into the organisation, as well as the P-O-fit (Person-Organisation fit) thought. In conclusion, the authors recommend to measure and to be aware of both, management values and employee values, in order to optimize the P-O fit and make values contribute to strategic goals. The article shows a way forward to a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of organisational values for business managers and scientists. The authors develop a common threat for a coherent picture on the definition, the method of measurement and the approach to management of values, which contributes to applicable recommendations for scientists and managers. Moreover, the article provides a platform for further research and empirical testing.
In safety analysis for safety-critical embedded systems, methods such as FMEA and fault trees (FT) are strongly established in practice. However, the current shift towards model-based development has resulted in various new safety analysis methods, such as Component Integrated Fault Trees (CFT). Industry demands to know the benefits of these new methods. To compare CFT to FT, we conducted a controlled experiment in which 18 participants from industry and academia had to apply each method to safety modeling tasks from the avionics domain.
Although the analysis of the solutions showed that the use of CFT did not yield a significantly different number of correct or incorrect solutions, the participants subjectively rated the modeling capacities of CFT significantly higher in terms of model consistency, clarity, and maintainability. The results are promising for the potential of CFT as a model-based approach.
(Background) Empirical Software Engineering (SE) strives to provide empirical evidence about the pros and cons of SE approaches. This kind of knowledge becomes relevant when the issue is whether to change from a currently employed approach to a new one or not. An informed decision is required and is particularly important in the development of safety-critical systems. For example, for the safety analysis of safety-critical embedded systems, methods such as Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) are used. With the advent of model-based systems and software development, the question arises whether safety engineering methods should also be adopted. New technologies such as Component Integrated Fault Trees (CFT) come into play. Industry demands to know the benefits of these new methods over established ones such as Fault Trees (FT). (Methods) For the purpose of comparing CFT and FT with regard to the capabilities of the safety analysis methods (such as quality of the results) and to the participants' rating of the consistency, clarity, and maintainability of the methods, we designed a comparative study as a controlled experiment using a within-subject design. The experiment was run with seven academic staff members working towards their PhD. The study was replicated with eleven domain experts from industry. (Results) Although the analysis of the tasks' solutions showed that the use of CFT did not yield a significantly different number of correct or incorrect solutions, the participants rated the modeling capacities of CFT higher in terms of model consistency, clarity, and maintainability. (Conclusion) From this first evidence, we conclude that CFT have the potential of being beneficial for companies looking for a safety analysis approachfor projects using model-based development.

The Bode catchment (Germany) shows strong land use gradients from forested parts of the National Park (23 % of total land cover) to agricultural (70 %) and urbanised areas (7 %). It is part of the Terrestrial Environmental Observatories of the German Helmholtz association. We performed a biogeochemical analysis of the entire river network. Surface water was sampled at 21 headwaters and at ten downstream sites, before (in early spring) and during the growing season (in late summer). Many parameters showed lower concentrations in headwaters than in downstream reaches, among them nutrients (ammonium, nitrate and phosphorus), dissolved copper and seston dry mass. Nitrate and phosphorus concentrations were positively related to the proportion of agricultural area within the catchment. Punctual anthropogenic loads affected some parameters such as chloride and arsenic. Chlorophyll a concentration and total phosphorus in surface waters were positively related. The concentration of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) was higher in summer than in spring, whereas the molecular size of DOC was lower in summer. The specific UV absorption at 254 nm, indicating the content of humic substances, was higher in headwaters than in downstream reaches and was positively related to the proportion of forest within the catchment. CO2 oversaturation of the water was higher downstream compared with headwaters and was higher in summer than in spring. It was correlated negatively with oxygen saturation and positively with DOC concentration but negatively with DOC quality (molecular size and humic content). A principle component analysis clearly separated the effects of site (44 %) and season (15 %), demonstrating the strong effect of land use on biogeochemical parameters.

Schallschutz im Holzbau
(2013)

It is common for timber ceiling constructions to include a suspended ceilings made of plasterboard. In order to minimize the radiation from impact excitation, especially in the low frequency range below 100 Hz, a detailed analysis of the vibration behaviour was necessary.
An experimental modal analysis was carried out and the radiated sound power from the suspended ceiling was measured using a sweep sine excitation by a shaker connected to the top layer of the timber floor construction.
Since the experimental modal analysis was conducted using a high frequency resolution and with a non-stationary sound field, it was necessary to check the validity of the intensity measurements by comparing it with 1/3-octave band measurements. The results show very good agreement.
By this means the radiation efficiency can be measured simultaneously with an experimental modal analysis of a structure.
In this paper we apply diagnostic analysis to gain a deeper understanding of the performance of the the keyword search system that we have developed for conversational telephone speech in the IARPA Babel program. We summarize the Babel task, its primary performance metric, “actual term weighted value” (ATWV), and our recognition and keyword search systems. Our analysis uses two new oracle ATWV measures, a bootstrap-based ATWV confidence interval, and includes a study of the underpinnings of the large ATWV gains due to system combination. This analysis quantifies the potential ATWV gains from improving the number of true hits and the overall quality of the detection scores in our system's posting lists. It also shows that system combination improves our systems' ATWV via a small increase in the number of true hits in the posting lists.
This paper describes the acquisition, transcription and annotation of a multi-media corpus of academic spoken English, the LMELectures. It consists of two lecture se-ries that were read in the summer term 2009 at the com-puter science department of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, covering topics in pattern analysis, machine learning and interventional medical image processing. In total, about 40 hours of high-definition audio and video of a single speaker was acquired in a constant recording en-vironment. In addition to the recordings, the presentation slides are available in machine readable (PDF) format. The manual annotations include a suggested segmenta-tion into speech turns and a complete manual transcrip-tion that was done using BLITZSCRIBE2, a new tool for the rapid transcription. For one lecture series, the lecturer assigned key words to each recordings; one recording of that series was further annotated with a list of ranked key phrases by five human annotators each. The corpus is available for non-commercial purpose upon request.
We describe a state-of-the-art large vocabulary continuous speech recognition (LVCSR) and keyword search (KWS) system trained on roughly 70 hours of conversational telephone speech. Using the Kaldi speech recognition toolkit, we investigate several aspects: for the acoustic front-end, we analyze the use of mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC), pitch and probability-of-voicing (PoV), and deep neural network (DNN) bottleneck (BN) features, as well as their feature-level combination ("tandem"). For the acousticphonetic decision tree, we explore different hidden Markov model (HMM) topologies for the glottalization phoneme /?/ to model its typically short duration. For the acoustic model, we compare regular continuous HMM with a sort of multi-codebook subspace Gaussian mixture model (SGMM) that lead to an overall best word error rate (WER) of 58.7% and 56.3%, respectively. The KWS is implemented as a word lattice search, and is augmented by a syllable lattice back-up search to capture out-of-vocabulary keywords as well as misrecognized lexical surface forms due to ambiguous prefix and hyphenation rules.
Cleft Lip and Palate (CLP) is among the most frequent congenital abnormalities. The impaired facial development affects the articulation, with different phonemes being impacted inhomogeneously among different patients. This work focuses on automatic phoneme analysis of children with CLP for a detailed diagnosis and therapy control. In clinical routine, the state-of-the-art evaluation is based on perceptual evaluations. Perceptual ratings act as ground-truth throughout this work, with the goal to build an automatic system that is as reliable as humans. We propose two different automatic systems focusing on modeling the articulatory space of a speaker: one system models a speaker by a GMM, the other system employs a speech recognition system and estimates fMLLR matrices for each speaker. SVR is then used to predict the perceptual ratings. We show that the fMLLR-based system is able to achieve automatic phoneme evaluation results that are in the same range as perceptual inter-rater-agreements.
The paper demonstrates how institutional ethnography provides a way forward for occupational scientists to understand how social policies shape and infiltrate people's daily lives and work. Institutional ethnography is a method of inquiry that starts in individual's experiences and from there traces how their experiences are coordinated to and become shaped within particular organizational processes and social relations. In this paper, we are specifically interested in how social policies, as higher order texts, shape the organizational processes and service agents' work at Labor Market Offices, and enter into the organization of people's everyday activities. We want to make visible how particular policies enter into the organization of the daily lives of women with rheumatoid arthritis who apply for unemployment benefits and ‘regulate’ what they can or may have to do, even though higher order policy texts are not immediately visible or actively referred to in the setting. We learn from the experiences of two women, who are of employable age, have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and live in a mid-sized city in Austria.
We propose a reinforcement learning approach to heating control in home automation, that can acquire a set of rules enabling an agent to heat a room to the desired temperature at a defined time while conserving as much energy as possible. Experimental results are presented that show the feasibility of our method.
Competitive wooden floor systems - multi-objective optimization based on acoustics improvement
(2013)
The objective of this research project is the design of lightweight timber floor systems which have similar thicknesses to those of concrete floors but which perform better than concrete in terms of their environmental life cycle impact and in terms of airborne and impact sound insulation.
The availability of superior lightweight acoustic designs will increase the share of timber based floors within the Swiss construction market and will contribute to higher wood utilization in general.
A program for systematically developing validated finite element models for the development of lightweight timber floor systems has been proposed.
The use of Swiss hardwoods in floor systems will be studied and implemented where possible. Keywords: lightweight timber, sound transmission, impact noise
In this contribution a method for the prediction of the radiated sound out of the velocity field of a vibrating ceiling is presented. The numerical method was validated via measurements on a real structure using a pp-probe. It is based on Integral Transform techniques and can be applied in the postprocessing of a FEM simulation
(harmonic analysis) [1]. The method was verified by measurements on the real structure and can be used for parametrical studies.
Rounding off the Parts 1 and 2 of this publication nomograms, based on dimensionless parameters, can be developed to predict the sound radiation of light weight slabs. Hereby different sets of geometry as well as different configurations of ceilings can be studied in order to describe the acoustical and dynamical behaviour of wooden ceilings.
In order to set up guidelines for the design of light-weighted ceilings for timber constructions to be used by engineers in practice, investigations based on both measurements and numerical models have been carried out [1, 2, 3].
The setup and the calibration of the numerical model of the structure are outlined briefly.
A semi-analytical approach for the prediction of radiated sound is presented, which is based on Integral Transform Methods. The method can be applied in the post processing of a Finite Element computation.
Thus as a first step the structure, consisting of a timber slab, a floating floor and a suspended ceiling, is built up in a Finite Element model, where the material properties of wood and the characteristics of the system are considered.
The model is parameterized in order to enable computations with varying geometry and material parameters and calibrated with the help of measurements using model updating techniques.
The velocity pattern resulting out of the FEM computation is transformed from the spatial into the wavenumber domain and from the time into the frequency domain using Fourier Transform Methods. Applying this velocity pattern as a boundary condition to the Helmholtz Equation, which results out of the Fourier Transform of the wave equation, the wavenumbers, which fulfil the radiation condition, can be selected and the pressure field in the adjacent acoustic fluid can be computed.
Due to the properties of the Fourier-Transform the radiated sound power can be calculated efficiently in the transformed domain out of pressure and velocity.
In a second part of the contribution the model for the air cushion in the suspended ceiling is discussed, where a FSI-model for the acoustic fluid and the structure is compared against engineering approaches using simplifications concerning mass distribution and transfer impedances between the individual nodes at the interface
Numerical models for the prediction of vibroacoustical characteristics of light-weighted ceilings
(2013)
In order to set up guidelines for the design of light-weighted ceilings for timber constructions to be used by engineers in practice, investigations based on both measurements and numerical models have been carried out within the cooperative research project “VibWood”.
In this contribution the setup and the calibration of the numerical model of the structure as well as the prediction of radiated sound are discussed, where a special focus is set on a dimensionless description in order to deduce information for a wide range of system’s specifications.
The structure, consisting of a timber slab, a floating floor and a suspended ceiling, is built up in a Finite Element model, where the material properties of wood and the characteristics of the system (e.g.support conditions, contact phenomena dynamic properties of individual parts) are considered.
The model is parameterized in order to enable computations with varying geometry and material parameters.
After calibrating the FE-model with the help of measurements using model updating techniques dimensionless parameters are defined based on the Buckingham-π- Theorem and computations are carried out in order to specify guidelines for various systems. The radiation of sound is computed in a post processing using Integral Transform Methods.
Within the scope of the research project "VibWood", operational vibration analyses of timber floor constructions were carried out. In order to understand the vibration behaviour of and the sound transmission through the layers of the constructions the coupling between them was investigated. The transfer function from the point of excitation to a pattern of receiving positions located on each of the layers of the construction was measured using a swept sine excitation. As a result, the frequency range of decoupling between the base floor and the floating floor and between the base floor and the suspended ceiling could be identified and the individual vibration behavior analyzed. The measurements also included the radiated sound power from the suspended ceiling. There is indication that there is not necessarily a correlation between the eigenmodes of the suspended ceiling and the maxima of the radiated sound power

Background
Joint contractures are frequent in older individuals in geriatric care settings. Even though they are used as indicator of quality of care, there is neither a common standard to describe functioning and disability in patients nor an established standardized assessment to describe and quantify the impact of joint contractures on patients’ functioning. Thus, the aim of our study is (1) to develop a standard set for the assessment of the impact of joint contractures on functioning and social participation in older individuals and (2) to develop and validate a standardized assessment instrument for describing and quantifying the impact of joint contractures on the individuals’ functioning.
Methods
The standard set for joint contractures integrate the perspectives of all potentially relevant user groups, from the affected individuals to clinicians and researchers. The development of this set follows the methodology to develop an International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health (ICF) Core Set and involves a formal decision-making and consensus process. Evidence from four preparatory studies will be integrated including qualitative interviews with patients, a systematic review of the literature, a survey with health professionals, and a cross sectional study with patients affected by joint contractures. The assessment instrument will be developed using item-response-theory models. The instrument will be validated.
Discussion
The standard set for joint contractures will provide a list of aspects of functioning and health most relevant for older individuals in geriatric care settings with joint contractures. This list will describe body functions, body structures, activities and participation and related environmental factors. This standard set will define what aspects of functioning should be assessed in individuals with joint contractures and will be the basis of the new assessment instrument to evaluate the impact of joint contractures on functioning and social participation.
Background Free movement of the limbs is a prerequisite of mobility and autonomy in old age. Joint contractures, i.e. restrictions in full range of motion of any joint due to deformity, disuse or pain, are common problems of frail older people, particularly in nursing home residents.
Contractures are among the most unexplored and underreported syndromes in clinical and homecare settings. Epidemiological studies indicate a wide range of prevalence of joint contractures in older individuals between 20% and 80%. This variation is due to different definitions of contracture and varying diagnostic criteria or data collection methods, different research settings, sample size and study participants? characteristics.
The aetiology of joint contractures is multifaceted. In older people contractures may be caused by a variety of health conditions and situations, but immobility due to an acute injury or disease seems to be the major risk factor. Upper limb joint contractures may result in loss of ability to dress or eat independently while lower limb contractures may lead to instability and inability to walk independently and higher risk of bed confinement.
Joint contractures further increase the risk of other adverse patient outcomes like pain, pressure ulcers and risk of falls. Thus, joint contractures are a major cause for excess disability in older people with a significant impact on overall quality of life and functioning. Preventive and rehabilitation interventions targeting joint contractures may decrease morbidity, increase functioning and quality of life, and, ultimately, prevent long-term disability. In the United States of America, presence of joint contractures is an established indicator of quality of care in nursing facilities.
In Germany, joint contracture risk assessment and prevention have recently been defined as a quality indicator of nursing home care that should be regularly monitored by experts from the statutory health insurance system. Nursing homes are obliged to report whether they regularly assess the risk of joint contracture and administer relevant preventive measures. In clinical settings, joint contractures are assessed by measuring the range of motion.
However, from a patient- and nursing-oriented perspective the relevance of a systematic registration of contractures in care-dependent older people is unclear unless their impact on functioning is understood. Contracture assessment is only an intermediate step in the evaluation of patient-relevant outcomes such as quality of life, functioning, and the ability to participate in everyday life and social participation. Arguably, a clinical definition of joint contracture is difficult because the contracture?s severity is determined by the consequences on activities of daily living, quality of life and social participation. In addition, there is no consensus on aspects most relevant to the affected individuals.
A variety of functional measures is currently used for the assessment and evaluation of geriatric patients. To date, there is no consensus on common concepts for the choice of outcome measures specifically for evaluating the impact of interventions targeted on joint

Symptom frequency and severity in vestibular disorders often do not correlate well with patients' restrictions of activities of daily living and limitations of participation.
Due to the lack of appropriate patient reported outcome measures (PRO), the extent of limitations and restrictions is mostly unknown. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) is a conceptual framework and classification to evaluate all aspects of health and disability. An ICF-based measure, the Vestibular and Participation Measure (VAP), was recently proposed.
Also, an ICF Core Set for vertigo, dizziness and balance disorders was developed to describe what aspects of functioning should be measured. This study protocol describes the development and cross-cultural validation of a new measure, the VAP-extended (VAP-e), based on VAP and ICF Core Set on three continents.
To determine objectivity and cross-cultural validity of the VAP and to find potentially redundant items, Rasch models will be used. The VAP-e will be created by modifying or adding items from the Activities and Participation and Environmental Factors component of the ICF Core Set. Reliability, objectivity and responsiveness of the VAP-e will be tested.
Masterprojekt Schletter
(2013)
Also eine Stromtankstelle?
Touch down and take off
(2013)
Also eher ein Crash anstatt eines Touch Down.
