The usage of resources is still often pictured on a short perspective. Especially the usage of human resources must be sustainable, based on long term balance of interests and supported by procedures and systems that anchor the anabolic balance of interest between company and employee (Moldaschl,2008). Within the management of competencies, culture and values, the "social capital" in terms of an "asset of mutual trust" plays and important role. If the "homo reciprocans" feels to be treated fair his own willingness to cooperate increases (Falk, 2002). Furthermore "Trust in human relations is a binding framework under insecurity and allows decisions and actions that would not be possible based on pure rational information and consideration" (Strasser/ Voswinkel, 1997). The question behind the research paper at hand is: "Is a culture of trust leading to higher employee competence utilization?" This is of relevance as "it is human capability and commitment that distinguishes successful organizations from the rest" (Storay, J. 2007), which is explicitly valid in times of skilled worker shortage. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a research approach to test the correlation between Trust and Employee Competence Utilization (ECU) - embedded in a Business Excellence (BE) setting. Based on a short insight in the theoretical foundation of the basic model behind the empirical study and the subsequent operationalization of the variables the basic empirical methodology is described. With this the paper shows the process of focussing and bounding from the general theoretical relation of Trust and ECU to a specific research question and it's correlating stepwise empirical approach. The paper at hand gives detailed insights in the logic of planning of the empirical test methods as well as the development of the derived interview lines and questionnaires. The findings of this paper broaden the research focus towards the complexity of the two variables, trust and ECU, but simultaneously introduce and suggest an empirical approach to lighten the possibilities of measuring both variables. First empirical results underline the concrete tangible approach towards a focussed structural equation model. Still trust is a resource of strategic relevance since it establishes security, reduces complexity and opens potentials being bigger than simply the reduction of "cost of control". These characteristics are of special interest for management, as competent action is always bound to problem-solving-abilities under circumstances of insecurity. Further to this there are numerous situations where control is not applicable and where we simply don't have full knowledge. Also trust is particular as it bypasses financial efforts and grows through usage; an investment of high amortization though that deserves closer attention of management especially valid in times of skilled worker shortage and with respect to organizational learning as a valuable competitive advantage. The purpose of this paper is to develop direct and indirect measurable on the impact of trust on employee competence utilization and its subsequent realization in a strategic scorecard approach. This is based on a new integrative model in the organizational context applicable for strategicmanagement. With this the objective of the paper is to answer the question if culture of trust is an adequate instrument for strategic management. The empirical evaluation of the model is based on a survey directed to employees of selected companies in a pragmatic mixed methods application. The selected view considers the trust level of employees with regard to management as another individual and the organization itself; personal and institutional trust mechanisms are affected. Thus the employee evaluates its management. As a result, the empirical study suggests that it is possible to specify frameworks for the establishment of trust, and that its impact on competence utilization is moreover significant. However the concept of trust creates challenging requirements on managers. Based on the assumption that employees basically think and act in the sense of the company, benevolence and goodwill must be involved to avoid an opportunistic approach. Further to this accountability, shared norms and freedom to take responsibility need to be proven by behavior. The allowance of constructive seriously taken criticism, problem solving attitude, the acceptance of decisions are further key points for trust supporting frameworks that have to be accepted and shown through behavior.}, language = {en} } @article{BolzernKonrad2013, author = {Bolzern-Konrad, Britta}, title = {Company competencies and individual competencies in the prism of social capital}, series = {Proceedings of the International Conference NEW CHALLENGES OF ECONOMIC AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - 2013, Riga, University of Latvia, May 2013.}, journal = {Proceedings of the International Conference NEW CHALLENGES OF ECONOMIC AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - 2013, Riga, University of Latvia, May 2013.}, editor = {Faculty of Economics and Management, University of Latvia,}, isbn = {978-9984-45-715-4}, year = {2013}, abstract = {In today's business practice, but also in academic research the aspect of competencies has gained remarkable importance. The system is solely based on standard cepstral features in form of MFCCs. No other information like word alignments is used. So the system can be easily adapted to other languages. For each child one GMM is created by adaptation of a UBM to the speaker-specific MFCCs. The components of this GMM are concatenated in order to create a so-called GMM supervector. These GMM supervectors are then used as meta features for an SVR. We evaluated our language-independent system on two different datasets of children suffering from CLP. The quality of the final product is significantly influenced by this production step. The manufacturing process step within the edgebanding machine begins with the milling of the raw edge. The quality of the edgebanding process is determined by a large number of process input variables, such as the tool used and the cutting geometry, the type of laminate used for the wood-based material, adhesives, etc. The quality of the edgebanding process is also determined by the type of material processed. Particularly with regard to the materials, the increased use of recycled wood in the particleboard sector and different types of adhesives (with reduced formaldehyde emissions) results in increased demands on the milling process. Due to this developments, most of the earlier investigations (in the years 1990 - 2000) are not comparable with today's general conditions. The mechanical and optical properties of the edge applied to the end product are decisively influenced by the quality of this joint. The milling technology used, as well as the tool used for this purpose and its condition, is a decisive influencing factor in the formation of quality. Tests on the indication of various influencing variables in the edgebanding process at the Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences showed that in the case of chipboard milling, a decrease in the electrical power required for the cutting process can take place with increasing tool wear. It was also demonstrated that previous process steps in furniture production, such as panel dividing by means of sawing or milling/nesting, generally have a significantly different influence on the subsequent joining process during edge banding process. Furthermore, a direct correlation was determined between the mechanical properties of the end product and the condition of the tool used, which can be used as a measurable indicator. In addition to the effect of the tool condition on the mechanical properties of the edge banding, this also has an impact on the optical quality characteristics. Accordingly, it could be demonstrated here that an increase in the size and number of chippings takes place in the laminate of the board material to be processed.}, language = {en} } @book{BiffarSeidlmeier2010, author = {Biffar, J. and Seidlmeier, Heinrich}, title = {Betriebliche Prozesse}, publisher = {DocuWare}, address = {Germering}, publisher = {Technische Hochschule Rosenheim}, year = {2010}, language = {de} } @inproceedings{BetzSchoepferMayretal.2016, author = {Betz, Katja and Sch{\"o}pfer, Fabian and Mayr, Andreas R. and Schanda, Ulrich}, title = {Berechnung der installierten K{\"o}rperschallleistung im Holzrahmenbau}, series = {Deutsche Gesellschaft f{\"u}r Akustik e.V. Virtual reality (VR) is an innovative approach to engage and motivate patients during training. There is promising evidence for its efficiency in retraining upper limb function. However, there is insufficient proof for its effectiveness in gait training. AIM: To evaluate the acceptability of robot-assisted gait training (RAGT) with and without VR and the feasibility of potential outcome measures to guide the planning of a larger randomized controlled trial (RCT). DESIGN: Single-blind randomized controlled pilot trial with two parallel arms. SETTING: Rehabilitation hospital. POPULATION: Twenty subacute stroke patients (64±9 years) with a Functional Ambulation Classification (FAC) ≤2. METHODS: Twelve sessions (over 4 weeks) of either VR-augmented RAGT (intervention group) or standard RAGT (control group). Acceptability of the interventions (drop-out rate, questionnaire), patients' motivation (Intrinsic Motivation Inventory [IMI], individual mean walking time), and feasibility of potential outcome measures (completion rate and response to interventions) were determined. RESULTS: We found high acceptability of repetitive VR-augmented RAGT. The drop-out rate was 1/11 in the intervention and 4/14 in the control group. Patients of the intervention group spent significantly more time walking in the robot than the control group (per session and total walking time; P<0.03). In both groups, motivation measured with the IMI was high over the entire intervention period. The felt pressure and tension significantly decreased in the intervention group (P<0.01) and was significantly lower than in the control group at the last therapy session (r=-0.66, P=0.005). The FAC is suggested as a potential primary outcome measure for a definitive RCT, as it could be assessed in all patients and showed significant response to interventions (P<0.01). We estimated a sample size of 44 for a future RCT. CONCLUSIONS: VR-augmented RAGT resulted in high acceptability and motivation, and in a reduced drop-out rate and an extended training time compared to standard RAGT. This pilot trial provides guidance for a prospective RCT on the effectiveness of VR-augmented RAGT.
