TY - THES A1 - Förster, Alena T1 - Proof of concept for the removal of antibiotic residues from wastewater by algae N2 - Wastewater treatment is an important field of study and gets more and more attention due to the fact that environmental pollution poses a severe threat to the environment itselt but also our health. Most wastewater treatment plants are not equipped enough to remove antibiotic residues from the water phase of wastewater. With their ability to use nitrogen and phosphor for their metabolism algae can help with this process. This thesis provides an introduction into the ability of algae to remove the pollutants and shows ways to analyse the samples. The goal of this thesis is to develop an own method for the detection of antibiotic residues in the water phase of wastewater and therefore help with further analysis in the future. This was done in two parts, first the algae were grown in the laboratory and then literature research was conducted. The final result showed, that using algae in the wastewater treatment process is a sustainable and environmentally friendly method and an efficient way of removing antibiotic residues. Y1 - 2018 ER -
