The main goal is to develop standardised samples for SPECTRO OES devices that can be utilised during routine analysis in automatic processes. The selection criteria include machinability, signal performance, and homogeneity. To achieve these goals, a set of practical tests were carried out. The initial research involves using the existing SPECTRO sample library to identify suitable alloys for standardised production in large batches. In the end, a database is suggested with existing alloys as possible candidates for future production. The chosen alloy must generate signals within specified wavelength ranges and exhibit machinability for post-analysis processing. The thesis introduces a unique approach to assessing machinability using chip analysis, emphasising the role of chip characteristics in understanding the material's suitability for machining. The study found that the E/3 sample, especially among samples with zirconium, demonstrated exceptional machinability. Moreover, the research delves into the importance of power consumption measurements during milling as an informative parameter for machining requirements. The study examines the chemical composition necessary to produce consistent and robust signals across the spectrum, with a particular focus on elements like zirconium, nickel, iron, copper, titanium, and manganese, but also phase diagrams to understand the homogeneity of aluminium alloying elements. Sample 518X905 is highlighted for its role in enhancing emission lines. In conclusion, the thesis proposes an alloy composition that blends aluminium with various alloying elements to meet specific research requirements. Copper, iron, zinc, silicon, nickel, zirconium, chromium, and vanadium provide flexibility for crafting tailored samples. Existing primary alloying elements, including those with copper, zinc, and silicon, can be considered. However, zirconium with a concentration of 0.6% to 1% is pivotal in the proposed alloy recipe. The thesis investigates how these cost pressures affect farm operations, particularly in light of labor shortages and substantial wage expenses. Combining market data, government statistics, and industry reports, the research highlights significant trends in production, cultivation practices, and market dynamics between 2015 and 2023. Through analysis of data, this work finds a notable reduction in the number of farms and cultivated areas for both strawberries and asparagus, alongside fluctuations in yield and production volumes. The results suggest that while mechanization offers some relief from rising labor costs, its adoption is limited by high initial investment requirements, technical complexity, and the need for crop-specific solutions. This effect is moderated by significant regional differences, and farm size. Overall, this study contributes to the understanding of how minimum wage policies affect the German specialty crop sector, providing insights that are crucial for stakeholders aiming to navigate the evolving agricultural landscape. This study aimed to develop a robust machine learning model for classifying schizophrenia patients using neurophysiological markers derived from Electroencephalography (EEG) data. The work explored multiple machine-learning architectures, including traditional Support Vector Machines (SVM) and deep learning models such as Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and CNN-LSTM hybrids. EEG data was collected from schizophrenia patients and healthy controls, with preprocessing conducted using the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) framework to ensure consistency and standardization. Given the varying quality and structure of the EEG recordings—such as missing channels and differing recording lengths—the study employed several preprocessing techniques, including channel interpolation, zero-padding, and limiting data to the first three minutes of resting-state recordings for standardization. Data imbalance was addressed through the application of the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) to ensure balanced representation of both schizophrenia and control groups during model training. The findings showed that the SVM model reached an accuracy of 88.8% in patient classification, whereas the LSTM model, after addressing data imbalances through SMOTE, achieved an improved classification accuracy of 99.3%. However, challenges arose when attempting to predict schizophrenia severity levels using MMN task data and a CNN-LSTM hybrid model. Despite efforts to standardize the number of epochs across subjects, the model achieved a more modest accuracy of 66.7%. This lower accuracy was largely attributed to the limited and unbalanced dataset, as some subjects had fewer than the target number of epochs. Further challenges included BIDS conversion issues due to discrepancies in file naming conventions between .sdt and .set files, which required considerable time to resolve. The successful creation of a tailored BIDS conversion script ensured the data could be standardized and used effectively for analysis. In conclusion, while the classification models achieved high accuracy, particularly the LSTM-based approach, predicting schizophrenia severity levels remains a challenge due to the limitations of the available dataset. Future research will focus on gathering larger and more balanced datasets, refining preprocessing methods, and optimizing model architectures to improve prediction accuracy. Ultimately, the goal is to apply these models in clinical settings to facilitate early diagnosis and intervention, providing timely medical care to schizophrenia patients before their symptoms worsen. A case study from four German hospital wards. N2 - As biofilms are known to harbour (multi-)resistant species, their presence in health settings must be considered critical. Although there is evidence that bacteria spread from drains to the outside, there is still a lack of research data focusing on drain biofilms from hospitals. We sampled biofilms from various wards of Helios Hospital Krefeld (Germany), where comprehensive antibiotic consumption data were available. Biofilms were analysed by cell counting, isolation of relevant bacterial groups and genetic and phenotypical resistance parameters. Data were correlated with the prescribed antibiotics of the respective ward. Furthermore, an ex-situ biofilm model was employed to investigate the influence of sub-inhibitory antibiotics on the bacterial community and the prevalence of class 1 integrons. Our results show, that every ward harboured medically relevant bacterial species. While no significant differences were found in cell counts, the median prevalence of the resistance marker gene intI1 correlated with the amount of prescribed antibiotics. In contrast, phenotypical resistances showed no similar tendency. In addition, melting curve analysis data and changes in intI1 prevalence show that the composition of the bacterial community shifted depending on the biofilm and antibiotic. Based on our results we conclude, that sub-inhibitory concentrations of antibiotics have no general effect on biofilms in terms of bacterial community shift and occurrence of antibiotic resistant species. The effect depends on the initial composition of the bacterial community, the antibiotic used and the intrinsic bacterial resistance e.g. prevalence of class 1 integrons. The research question is: "What impact can Virtual Influencers have on Brand Management?". The aim is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of VIs from a Brand Management perspective. The research utilizes a literature review and comparison to evaluate key dimensions such as authenticity, credibility, engagement, diversity, flexibility and Marketing effectiveness. The results show that VIs offer significant benefits, including flexibility, adaptability, diversity, high engagement rates, increased brand awareness and cost-effectiveness. VIs can operate without time, location or health restrictions and can be precisely customized to the brand strategy. They also achieve higher engagement rates, especially with sponsored posts, and can effectively increase brand visibility and recognition. However, the study also identifies several challenges associated with VIs. These include authenticity issues, as VIs do not have real-life experiences, making it difficult to develop real emotional connections with followers. In addition, VIs may struggle to gain credibility when promoting physical products and may not be as effective at generating purchase intention as HIs. The reduced parasocial interactions and initial distrust of users are also notable drawbacks. Overall, the research concludes that while VIs offer great potential for Brand Management and bring unique benefits, brands need to carefully consider the challenges associated with them. With the region facing significant energy challenges, including reliance on fossil fuels, limited access to electricity and high energy costs, bioethanol offers a promising alternative. The study evaluates the physical feasibility, yield differences, resource requirements, environmental impact, and socioeconomic implications of using these crops for bioethanol production. A comprehensive methodology involving laboratory experiments and literature review is employed. Results demonstrate that cassava has a higher bioethanol yield than maize, with more efficient enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation processes. Additionally, cassava’s adaptability to marginal lands, lower water usage, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions make it a more sustainable feedstock. Economically, cassava-based bioethanol production is more cost-effective and has better market integration due to the established supply chain in the region. However, the social implications, particularly food security concerns necessitate careful consideration and the development of integrated food and fuel production systems. The study concludes that cassava holds significant potential for bioethanol production in West Africa, providing a sustainable economically viable solution for the region’s energy needs. N2 - The development of sustainable and efficient 3D printing technologies is of central importance for progress in manufacturing and industry. One promising approach is the use of wood materials such as lignin, a waste material from the pulp and paper industry. To improve the mechanical properties of such materials in application, the use of biotechnological components such as laccases, which can catalyze the polymerisation of lignin, is useful. The ‘BioHolz3D’ project group at the Fraunhofer Institute für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung is focusing on the process of using 3D printing to produce new and sustainable products from enzymatically combined lignin with other wood residues. To this end, the composition of wood materials and their potential suitability for additive manufacturing are being analyzed. In this thesis, various approaches are pursued to optimize the efficiency of conventional enzymes and possible enzyme alternatives, to validate their suitability using various methods. After the production of different material combinations of wood based materials, these are to be applied with the aim of increasing lignin polymerization, reduce the use of enzymes and save resources such as costs and energy in the production of initial test samples using liquid disposition modelling (LDM). Existing process weaknesses were analyzed, causes of errors discussed and their effects considered. This work demonstrated that the enzyme activity of the laccases from Trametes versicolor and Aspergillus sp can be increased by adding various metal ions. When applied to a model substrate and lignin, it was shown that copper and iron ions correlate with enzyme activity. Based on this, test objects were produced on which the effect could be demonstrated. The fuel cell system consists of multiple sub-systems such as anode gas supply components, cathode air compressors with humidification systems and a cooling circuit. They all must be regulated according to the nominated working conditions of the stack, and one of the most important parameters is the hydrogen supply feed of the fuel cell system. The hydrogen supply system must be robust to handle different working conditions of the stacks such as load fluctuation, purging of water and nitrogen from anode side and subsequent pressure fluctuations. It is critical to control the anode pressure with respect to varying conditions since unbalanced H2 supply can lead to membrane failure, hydrogen starvation and drying out which can lead to deterioration and reduce the lifetime of the stack. The thesis describes the development of “Gas Handling Unit” as the effective hydrogen supply system which will be incorporated with a particle filter, switch off solenoid valve, proportional valve, pressure transmitters and a pressure safety valve for venting during critical conditions. The design and control of the gas handling unit is detailed along with material compatibility of metals and sealants polymers with hydrogen applications. The relevant safety regulations and technical standards are identified and followed during the design process. N2 - Abstract The Poultry industry plays a significant role in meeting global demand for protein-rich food. However, there is a significant challenge in chicken processing which involves the occurrence of wing breakage that impacts both the aesthetic quality of the product and raises concerns regarding animal welfare and economic sustainability. This thesis aims to investigate the underlying biological factors associated with wing damage during processing by comparing wing structures of broilers raised under different management systems. This investigation focuses on exploring the chicken wing breakage contributing factors and cultivating a better understanding of this challenge to aid the chicken processing industry. This objective will be achieved by a comparative analysis of internal wing structures with a focus on distal humeral growth plate development observed in chicken wings from broilers raised under different production systems. The packaging and selling of damaged chicken wings for human consumption is prohibited by the European Union due to the potential health risks and aesthetic reasons. Hence, the disposal of chicken carcasses with wing damage results in financial losses for the company. An internal comparative analysis of the chicken wings aided by dissection techniques as well as X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry analysis of elements present at the bone growth plates will be carried out with an intention of quantifying the structural variations in broiler wings from different management systems. By elucidating the internal features and compositions of the different chicken wings with comparison to relevant literature and recent related discoveries, this research seeks to identify biological factors potentially responsible for wing damage among different broilers, allowing further intervention strategies within the industry. The findings from this study have implications for both industry practices and animal welfare standards. By discovering potential biological root causes of wing damage, this research provides valuable insights for optimizing processing protocols and equipment design to minimize trauma to birds and enhance product quality. In addition, a deeper understanding of physiological responses of chicken to processing stress can encourage more humane and efficient poultry handling practices and management strategies to reduce losses from wastage as well as chicken welfare improvement in commercial broiler production. The overall contribution of this thesis is towards the advancement of knowledge in poultry production and the importance of considering the biological factors and internal structures of chicken wings in designing processing systems. Through collaborative efforts between researchers, stakeholders and other parties involved, the insights gained from this study will aid sustainable practices that prioritize animal welfare, product quality assurance and economic sustainability in the poultry industry. It was standardized by ISO to aid comparison of different studies employing the method of Life Cycle Assessment. The standard contains the phases: Goal and Scope, Life Cycle Inventory, Life Cycle Impact Assessment, and Interpretation. A Life Cycle Assessment is conducted on renewable energies in Germany, namely Wind Energy, Solar Energy, Bioenergy, and Green Hydrogen Energy. The data collection phase of the life cycle inventory was performed under several assumptions and limitations which extend to the results. It is established through the results of the study that Green Hydrogen energy holds the greatest environmental impacts out of the four energies. This impact is justified as Green Hydrogen is an energy carrier, rather than a producer. The impacts of Wind Energy, Solar Energy, and Bioenergy are compared in the absence of Green Hydrogen Energy, as they are all energy producers. It is found that the overall environmental impacts of Bioenergy are the greatest of the three, while Wind Energy has the lowest impacts. Solar Energy had greater impacts than Bioenergy in certain impact categories. Comparison of this study with previous Life Cycle Assessments reveals some similarities and differences. Contrasting this study to the German Sustainable Development Strategy shows that the strategy as well as the current trends are supported by the results of this study, but can be improved in certain aspects. One party welcomes the wolf back to Germany and sees its potential to increase the biodiversity in Germany’s ecosystems and forests, one party sees the harm in the wolf by killing livestock animals such as equines (Equus), sheep (Ovis aries) and cattle (Bovine) yet another party is torn in between. Many farmers and shepherds are trapped somewhere in between in these opposing views. The return of the wolf has led to conflicts between livestock owners and the predators, necessitating effective and sustainable solutions to protect livestock. This thesis examines the status quo of LGDs as a non-lethal method for guarding livestock in the context of the wolf's return in Germany. It explores the historical use of LGDs, their reintroduction in modern German agricultural practices, and the factors influencing the success or failure. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature and interviews, the study investigates the socio-economic, ecological and policy-related dimensions of LGD use. Key areas of focus include the training and management of LGDs, their impact on reducing livestock loss, the attitudes and perceptions of livestock owners towards these guardian animals as well as the attitudes and perceptions of non – livestock owners. Findings indicate that LGDs can significantly reduce wolf predation on livestock when properly implemented and supported by appropriate training and management practices. Nevertheless, challenges such as initial investment costs, maintenance, and integration with other livestock protection measures need to be addressed. The research highlights the importance of education and support for livestock owners, as well as the need for policies that facilitate the use of LGDs. This concludes that LGDs can be a useful, non-lethal protection measure addition to livestock farms. However, it is found that a combination of protection measures is the most effective in protecting livestock from predators. A negative association between social support and the stress of employees mediated by appreciation was expected, along with stress mediating the negative correlation between appreciation and intention to fluctuate. It was also examined whether the appreciation of different sources influence each other in their effects on stress. The analysis data was collected through an online questionnaire. The test subjects were recruited from the author's private environment and an online platform. The analysis is based on data from 65 male and 118 female employees. 69.4% of all employees worked full time. Appreciation had a negative effect on the stress and the fluctuation of employees. The effect on the intention to fluctuate was mediated by stress. Social support also had a negative effect on stress, but it was mediated by the appreciation. The strongest effect on stress was measured for the appreciation of supervisors, followed by the appreciation by coworkers. An interaction effect on stress was only found for the appreciation by superiors and those by clients. The results underline the relevance of an appreciative behavior in the workplace, in particular the behavior of supervisors. The experiments were performed over a period of 4 months with the goal of setting a robust calibration for carbon detection in ferroalloys. Ferrochromium ranging from 0,01 % to 9,03 % carbon was used as a reference material for the calibration. It was tested by using independent certified reference materials of ferrochromium but also additional ferroalloys like ferro-manganese, -silicon, - niobium, -titanium and -vanadium for the validation process. The statistical calculations were performed using the NORDTEST standards to ensure reliable results. Additionally, the drift of the machine and the detection and quantification limits were investigated. It revealed that the drift had to be applied daily, and that the quantification limit of the detector in the CS-analyzer is around 0,012 % carbon. As a result of the statistical calculations, it appeared that the measurement uncertainty is carbon percentage dependent. This led to the creation of a function that can estimate the measurement uncertainty dependent on the carbon percentage for future analysis. Subsequential testing proved the emission of reasonable results for all tested materials, validating that the set calibration can be applied to those materials without further refinement of the calibration method. Nepali language is written in Devanagari script, has complex grammatical structure and diverse linguistic features. Due to the absence of balanced datasets, and computational resources for Nepali, achieving optimal result with the latest architecture remains challenging. For this reason, publicly available NLP modelsfor Nepali are very less, making research in this area difficult. This paper attempts to addressthis gap through the use of pre-trained transformer models specially tailored for Nepali from Hugging Face including BERT, DistilBERT, ALBERT, and DeBERTa for sentiment analysis in Nepali tweets on relatively balanced datasets. The models are trained on large Nepali datasets and optimized for NLP tasks involving Devanagari scripts. To evaluate the model’s performance, various tokenization strategies are investigated in order to capitalize on transformer-based embedding with the SoftMax function and confusion matrix. The outcomes of models are compared using the same datasets. The study’s results shows that DistilBERT achieved the highest accuracy rate of 88% in Nepali sentiment analysis tasks, followed by BERT and DeBERTa at 83% and 80%, respectively. However, ALBERT showed a low accuracy of 70%. The result of this approach shares valuable viewpoints for the field of sentiment analysis in diverse linguistic contexts. Unfortunately, the research is very limited for low-resource languages like Nepali. This study examines the utilisation of pre-trained BERT-based NERNepal for Named Entity Recognition (NER) tasks in Nepali text. The main goal is to investigate the efficiency of the NERNepal model, which has been pre-trained and fine-tuned on Nepali corpus data for NER. This research provides new insights by evaluating the NERNepal model on two distinct datasets. It addresses unique linguistic challenges specific to Nepali. The study also offers a detailed analysis of the model's strengths and weaknesses. By focusing on diverse datasets, this study shows how adaptable the model is and how its performance varies. These aspects have not been explored extensively before. The EverestNER dataset is one of the largest human-annotated datasets in Nepal so far, and the Nepali_NER dataset is also BIO-annotated for the NER task, which helped to compare the model’s prediction. The performance was better on the Nepali_NER dataset in comparison with another selected dataset. The EverestNER dataset contained many complex words for ORG connected with many tokens for a single entity with different contextual meanings and different annotations for the same word in different tokens as per context. Because of this, it created more confusion for the prediction, especially for the ORG entity. It had a similar issue with another dataset as well, but the label annotation was better in comparison. Furthermore, the research tries to clarify the difficulties and constraints related to utilising pre-trained BERT models for NER in low-resource languages such as Nepali. The study focuses on research areas on the efficacy of the model and its performance on two different datasets. Post-training with the EverestNER train dataset was attempted, but due to computational resource limitations, only a maximum of 3 epochs was possible, which did not improve the evaluation. It also has implications for enhancing language processing tools for Nepali. The results show the ability of a pre-trained BERT-based model to improve NER skills for Nepali text. However, further study is required to overcome the current obstacles to identifying complex words. The availability of high computational resources and the possibility of combining other NER approaches with a transformer-based model could increase the performance and robustness of the model. N2 - Due to the current shortage of skilled workers, companies are faced with the challenge of setting themselves apart from the competition and increasing their attractiveness in order to attract employees to their company. After all, they represent a decisive factor in a company's success. This raises the question of how intensively companies deal with appreciative corporate management and what impact this has on commitment, referring to loyalty of employees to their organization. And are there differences in commitment depending on the type of organization? As there are currently gaps in the research on these relationships and they are becoming increasingly important due to the times of crisis management, the aim of this study is to differentiate appreciation in companies and to record the influence of appreciation by superiors on the three components of commitment according to Meyer & Allen (1991) and on organizational commitment. Furthermore, the influence of the type of organization (public sector vs. private sector) on organizational commitment is examined and the resulting interaction with the level of appreciation is considered. A cross-sectional study was conducted with study participants who report to a manager and are employed in the public or private sector. A data set of N = 178 was recorded. The results of the first directed t-test show that high values in appreciation are significantly associated with high values in affective commitment. At the same time, two further, undirected t-tests show no significant differences in regard to the level of appreciation - neither in normative commitment nor in calculative commitment. In addition, an Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was calculated in a 2x2 design. The results show there is a significant difference in the level of appreciation with regard to organizational commitment. At the same time, it was found that the distinction between organizational types doesn‘t have a significant influence on organizational commitment and that organizational commitment in the two organizational types isn‘t significantly influenced by the level of appreciation. The study addresses research gaps and highlights important implications and suggestions for future studies. In many parts of the world, access to safe drinking water is limited, leading to various waterborne diseases. Solar water disinfection(SODIS) is a simple and cost-effective method used to purify water using sunlight, where itinactivates the pathogens and makes the water safe for consumption. This disinfection process involves filling polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles with water and exposing them to sunlight for a specified period. The aim of this thesis is to develop a working prototype that exploresthe automation of SODIS on a small-scale using Arduino Due, a microcontroller board that offers advanced features for automation. The prototype consists of the necessary parts to perform SODIS automatically. In conventional SODIS, it is assumed that the required SODIS criteria are met within 6 hours of a sunny day. In contrast, in the prototype microcontroller pumps the water into the PET bottle, monitors sunlight exposure for 6 hours, determines disinfection, and then pumps out the water for consumption only when the threshold values for irradiance are met. If the conditions are not met, the exposure is extended by an hour each time and checked again. The prototype automates the SODIS on a small-scale using cost-efficient components. However, the prototype lacks oxygenation capacity, and there is a possibility of entering an infinite loop if the irradiance values are not met for a long time. The prototype could be further developed with extra sensors and extensive research for advanced automation. N2 - The recent development of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has inspired some game developers to try and integrate it into games. Anomalous behavior by generative AI or users seems undesirable and effort is being made to find ways on how to prevent anomalous responses by generative AI. However, these responses are a unique trait of generative AI and in our project, we explore strategies on how the negative effects of anomalous user and AI behavior can be mitigated, instead of trying to prevent them from appearing. We want to leverage their uniqueness as an intended game mechanic and see in what context these strategies can work. To achieve these goals, we researched already existing integrations of generative AI features in games and entertainment as well as possible connections to game mechanics and systems that are not related to AI. Based on this, we created 4 prototypes of conversational games with generative AI characters, which allowed the AI to create anomalous responses and did not limit the player freedom of what they may input. In our 36 participatory design sessions, we found that anomalous user and AI behavior can have a positive influence on the player's experience if a game's story is set up in a way that it can allow new and diverging story threads, that are created by the player and AI, to be integrated and if there are supplementary game mechanics, that allow the player to follow the intended story and complete the game. This bachelor thesis investigates the impact of LGWs on indoor environmental quality, employees' well-being, and performance in the offices of the Facility Management Department of Hochschule Rhein-Waal (HSRW) - Kleve campus. A hybrid methodology is adopted, combining sensor measurements of physical parameters and a self-developed questionnaire assessing perceived LGW impact. The sensors are set up in four offices, three of which featured LGWs, while the questionnaire is distributed online to workers before and after the LGW installation. Eight workers participated in the study, of which 62.5 % were female, and 37.5 % were male, with age range between 25 and above 45 years old. The results indicate a positive overall impact of LGWs on office environmental quality and employee well-being. The CO2 concentration was reduced on average by 30 ppm, whereas the relative humidity was increased, on average, by approximately 6 %. Hence, the LGWs enhanced slightly the air quality in the offices. Moreover, the target group claimed that their motivation level, on average, was raised by 15% after exposure to the LGWs. Hence, half of them agreed that the LGWs impacted their performance positively. However, challenges emerged concerning LGW technical design and employee engagement with the research. Despite obstacles, the study suggests potential for future improvements in methodology and technical aspects, offering promising project ideas for further research. Furthermore, the overall positive impact of LGW in this study has proven that integrating such systems into work environment can boost the motivation level of the workers and improve the environmental quality in workspaces. N2 - Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are among the feared pathogens of a colourful picture of infections that can range up to sepsis. One of the biggest problems of MRSA is its high pathogenicity and the development of additional resistance to other classes of antibiotics. The rapid identification of MRSA and the creation of an antibiogram is therefore crucial for an early recommendation of therapy and therefore an optimal treatment of the patient. For this reason, the present work seeks further possibilities in microbiological diagnostics in order to reduce the time span between the first laboratory suspicion of MRSA infection and the specific antibiotic therapy after pathogen identification. For this purpose, two different methods (MRSA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and penicillin-binding protein 2a (PBP2a) rapid test) were compared with the gold standard for the detection of methicillin resistance (VITEK-2 and cefoxitin confirmatory test). The clinical isolates oft he study were derived from blood culture bottles and swabs from intraoperative wounds. A total of 74 isolates were retrospectively tested including 26 (35%) MRSA, 24 (32.5%) methicillin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus and 24 (32.5%) coagulase-negative staphylococci(CnS). In the MRSA-PCR 15 (20%) questionable results were obtained, which is why the method did not appear suitable for reliable routine diagnostics. After excluding the results in question, the PCR had a positive predictive value (PPV) of only 65.7%. The sensitivity was 92.9%, the specificity was 93.5% and the negative predictive value (NPV) was 99.0%. The rapid test showed a specificity and PPV of 100%, a sensitivity of 97.3% and a NPV of 99.6%. In addition, the use of the rapid test has yielded additional benefits in terms of shorter turnaround, lower costs and ease of implementation. The estimated time gain by PCR or rapid test was between 15 and 23.8 hours compared to VITEK-2, which was of significant clinical benefit to the affected patients. In summary, the PBP2a rapid test for both S. aureus and CnS isolates had better performance data than the MRSA-PCR used and was therefore introduced into routine laboratory diagnostics. Y1 - 2024 ER - TY - THES A1 - Mutai, Levi Kipchumba T1 - Utilisation of biomass waste as feed for edible insects and how it can be used to close the food economy cycle and contribute to food security in Sub Sahara Africa N2 - The world is facing a critical challenge in meeting the growing demand for food particularly in developing countries in Sub-Saharan Africa where population growth is outpacing food production. It presents a formidable challenge exacerbated by urbanization, shifting consumption patterns and global disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, alternative food sources such as edible insects are gaining traction as sustainable solutions. Edible insects offer comparable nutrition to traditional protein sources while requiring minimal resources for farming. However, unsustainable harvesting practices endanger wild insect populations. To counter this, insect farming emerges as a promising strategy, leveraging efficient conversion rates and organic waste utilization. This paper explores how edible insects can integrate into circular food economies, converting organic waste into valuable resources, bolstering food and feed security, and mitigating waste. Specifically, it examines the potential of insects like black soldier fly larvae, yellow mealworms, houseflies, and house crickets in SSA for waste management and sustainable nutrition. The discussion encompasses insect abundance, waste utilization, economic cycles, and environmental benefits. Furthermore, it explores the quality and quantity of available urban organic waste streams, waste-to-insect combinations, and the socioeconomic implications of insect farming, including gender dynamics and consumer acceptance. The review highlights the need for regulatory frameworks to govern the edible insect industry in SSA and emphasizes the potential of insect farming to contribute to food security, environmental conservation, and economic development in the region. However, few markets accurately reflect the value of agroforestry products, posing a barrier to farmers implementing AFS (Litschel et al., 2023). In addition, while AFS could i.e. help the Lower Rhine Region reduce nitrate pollution, there is little research on AFS in this region. This thesis aims to reduce these barriers to AFS in the Lower Rhine Region by developing a marketing strategy for one promising agroforestry product: walnuts (Juglans regia). To do this, consumer prices of 62 walnut products from 15 stores in the Kleve area were collected over 46 days to gain an insight into the local market. Secondly, expert interviews were conducted with three German walnut producers to assess their marketing strategies. The SIVA framework (Solution, Information, Value, Access) by Dev and Schultz (2005), was used to analyse the transcripts. Then, the results were adapted to the context of the Lower Rhine Region and agroforestry to provide marketing guidelines for producers of AFS-grown walnuts in the Lower Rhine Region. Results show that not only could new walnut producers successfully compete with imported walnuts in the Lower Rhine Region, but that agroforestry could also be a significant asset to their marketing strategy. To assess its potential, three expert interviews were conducted in the beginning with the key stakeholders of a Silphie supply chain. These stakeholders included the fiber producer OutNature, the seed distributor Donau-Silphie, and the CO2 certification company Positerra. Through these interviews, the necessary conditions for establishing a Silphie cultivation region for paper production were determined. Subsequently, the attitudes of local farmers towards cultivation and further use of the plant were surveyed. Additionally, the potential for CO2 sequestration of Silphie was assessed and compared with the opinions of the farmers. The results from the interviews and the survey were used to identify patterns using explorative data analysis and descriptive statistics methods, enabling the prioritization of potential farmers in the future. The evaluation of the methods revealed an interest in cultivation and fiber production under certain conditions. The most important prerequisites include profitability, secured take-off agreements, and the suitability of using the plant as fodder. Consequently, farmers with a larger farm size who cultivate silage maize for biogas production are most willing to grow Silphie. By geographically mapping potential Silphie areas, two preferred catchment areas were identified where the chance for a cultivation region is favorable due to existing infrastructure and farmer interest. Furthermore, a comparison of the required environmental conditions with those present in OWL was conducted and mostly deemed accurate. Based on these findings and the development of further utilization possibilities for Silphie, this thesis serves as a motivation for additional studies aimed at increasing the potential of Silphie in OWL. Smallholder farmers can enter the food market easily by linking them with school feeding programs. National school feeding programs exist globally. However, food quality is a major factor in the success of these programs in enhancing student nutrition. This offers opportunities for family farms to supply nutritious, local organic produce to regional schools and gain access to the food market in urban areas. Students and farmers can benefit from this integration along with all supply chain contributors. Nevertheless, proper management of these supply chains, programs, and farms is a necessity. In this review, the impacts of local procurement for school meal programs are discussed with data from different national programs. Perspectives of farmers, distributors, school management, students, and parents are discussed to assess the advantages of buying from family farms. Challenges faced in the process of procurement from smallholders and associated risks are also examined. Social actors including producers, distributors, consumers, and government that participated in these studies give their opinions on school feeding programs. The main problems arise from the lack of budget and incentives available to farms and faulty logistics that can affect quality and quantity of school meals. Organizational strategies to promote sustainable supply chains and investment in agriculture policies are practical solutions for these challenges. Yeast metabolism is responsible for the aromatic compounds produced during fermentation. Different yeasts create different aromatic compounds, or different concentrations of compounds during fermentation because of the metabolic differences between yeasts. In this bachelor thesis, the effect of utilizing native yeasts on the sensory properties of the produced alcoholic beverage is evaluated. A total of 83 isolates were obtained from the surface, juice, and 7-days-rested juice of fresh pears of Conference variety. Among these isolates, 19 of them were identified as yeast samples. For native yeast sample used in sensory analysis, among known species in the sample, Saccharomyces cerevisiae has the highest relative abundance, followed by Saccharomyces eubayanus. The odor scores were significantly higher for native yeast sample points than the odor scores of LT8 points. The difference between the total sensory analysis scores was not significant. The results showed that the native yeast performed as good as the commercial yeast in terms of sensory properties, with a significantly better odor perception and higher production of ethanol. N2 - The aim of this study is to examine the needs, requirements, and barriers arising in the implementation of assistive technologies in various areas of everyday school life for students with special educational needs in the field of intellectual development and the educational staff. Furthermore, it will be discussed how the insights gained can serve as a basis for the future development and integration of the systems using design thinking methods. In order to answer these questions, an observation and expert interviews were carried out as part of a qualitative preliminary study in cooperation with the Bönninghardt special school in Alpen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The interviews were subsequently analysed and evaluated using Mayring's content analysis method (2022). The results of the study reveal unmet needs, such as the documentation of individual learning progress, barrier-free navigation and orientation systems, as well as the centralisation of various software, apps, and functions. The discussion on the requirements for assistance systems highlights the relevance of consistent implementation of the UD(L) principles and the provision of features such as image and symbol support, voice output, adaptivity, interactivity, and simplicity. The practical applicability and accessibility of mobile assistive everyday technologies, such as tablets, should be particularly emphasised. They not only provide effective support in everyday school life, but can also help reduce stigmatisation and shame both inside and outside the classroom. In addition, the integration of artificial intelligence was considered a decisive factor in the development of modern assistive devices. For optimal implementation and utilisation in the school context, it is especially important to offer efficient training with an accompanying character. The aim of the comparative analysis is to check the possibility of substituting the intricate methods according to DIN 38409-41:1980-12 and DIN 38409-44:1992-05 with ST methods regarding the concordance of the measurements of the chemical oxygen demand. Due to the extensive consumption of toxic reagents when executing the analysis in accordance to DIN 38409-41:1980-12 and DIN 38409-44:1992-05, the proposition for this comparison was made. Said toxic reagents such as mercury sulphate in potassium dichromate and sulphuric acid containing silver sulphate contribute to the high risk of health hazards compared to the ST test which is determined by describing the steps of the procedure while performing the intricate procedures in which the laboratory technicians come into contact with toxic reagents. As the chemical consumption is compared, it is possible to calculate the savings in absolute quantities of toxic reagents in case of a successful substitution with the ST tests. The statistical evaluation of the measurement results is presented in graphical form according to Bland-Altman. The regulatory specifications for the COD are contextualized depending on the matrix to assess the tolerability of the deviations measured values of the St tests from those of the analysis according to DIN 38409-41:1980-12 and DIN 38409-44:1992-05. The evaluation and assessment of the measurement results show that the determination using ST-tests generates sufficiently matching values of the COD and that a substitution is doable in the case of the waste waters of Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG. However, it is associated with a lot of new challenges for e-commerce businesses, particularly in understanding and managing the customer behavior patterns with the rising online product returns. Since the accessibility of online shopping has risen, assessing the critical factors related to product return and prediction has become a really challenging task for e-commerce vendors. This study also aims to segment the customers based on customer behavior prediction into two categories, i.e., high return risk and low return risk customers, and further develop strategies to reduce the online returns. This study is rather structured into four integral parts, where each part provides the comprehensive analysis. The first aspect involves analyzing and identifying the customer behavior patterns leading to product returns. The second aspect predicts the online product return based on selected features and the third is to segment the customers based on online product return prediction and categorize them into high return risk, and low return risk customers. The final step involves development of strategies to reduce the product return based on the intense analysis conducted. To achieve this meaningful research outcome, data analysis is conducted to understand the customer behavior patterns, and a Random Forest feature selector is used to identify the customer behavior patterns that lead to product return. Based on the identified features, classification models were applied to classify and predict whether the customer is going to return product or not. Furthermore, in these seven classification models such as Logistic Regression, Ada Boost, Decision Tree, Naive Bayes, XG Boost, K-Nearest Neighbors, and Random Forest were implemented and used to compare the performance of the classification models to find out the best performing model. Lastly, the segmentation of customers is carried out based on the online product prediction using Logistic regression with classification threshold method into high return risk and low return risk customer categories. The results obtained help in understanding the customer behavior and reduce the online product return by developing the strategies. This study will eventually help the online businesses in reducing returns which will also enhance the customer satisfaction. Thus, green infrastructures like golf courses have emerged as a potential contributor to biodiversity conservation. Therefore, the research focuses on a golf course in Krefeld, Germany, by examining its role in supporting, conserving, and improving local biodiversity. The objectives include assessing the biotopes and habitats provided by the golf course, investigating the potential of an ecosystem analysis to enhance overall biodiversity, and evaluating the golf course's effectiveness in conserving local species of conservation concern. Through landscape analysis, significant differences between the golf course and surrounding areas were observed. The golf course was ascertained to exhibit a significantly higher biotope value compared to other land use systems except natural ones. Woody biotopes, including forests and tree groups, demonstrated the highest on-course biotope values, while short-kept grass, roughs, ponds, and non-native woody structures were less valuable. Theoretical enrichments of meadow-, pond-, and non-native biotopes as well as their relative size indicated potential for improving biotope value to support biodiversity. Combined enrichments were indicated to be the most effective. Despite the current presence of only a few habitat types, the golf course was found to support local fauna and flora species of conservation concern. Adaptations, such as creating meadow-, riparian-, copse-, and forest habitats, showed promise to further improve biodiversity. The study identified landscape context and prior land use as crucial factors influencing golf course’s value. Overall, the golf course demonstrated potential in providing valuable biotopes, and habitats and supporting local and regional species of conservation concern. The findings suggest that golf courses, particularly in urban and suburban areas, can serve as effective contributors to biodiversity conservation by enhancing landscape connectivity and providing essential habitats. Enrichment strategies, coupled with a focus on specific habitat types, offer practical avenues for improving the conservation status of both local and regional flora and fauna species on golf courses. This research underscores the potential of golf courses as valuable tools in urban biodiversity conservation efforts. Within the context of Zechenpark, formerly known as the Bergwerk West, in Kamp-Lintfort and the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord as case studies, these locations serve as prime examples of reclamation efforts. Both locations now stand as emblematic sites undergoing transformation from industrial ruins to ecologically vibrant zones. This thesis evaluates the diversity of flowering plant species in the two locations: Zechenpark and Landschaftspark, including a comparison of cultural landscape-orientated ecosystems in the traditional parks and the biodiversity growing on more post-industrial structures. The plant species composition of the biodiversity plots of the 2022 Sowing Campaign (Einsaat-Aktion 2022) by the Förderverein Landesgartenschau (LaGa) were analyzed using biodiversity indices, as well as the species composition of Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord. A statistically significant correlation was observed between the number of individuals of flowering plants and the number of insects in Zechenpark, as determined by Spearman's rank correlation coefficient (Rs = 0.75, p < 0.05). This study offers valuable insights that could contribute to enhancing plant diversity within urban parks, thereby supporting the advancement of sustainable urban development. The concept comes from data visualization, except for in a physicalization the data is presented as 3D tangible objects. Research shows that physical representation of data and being able to interact with it improve understanding and memorability of data, which supports the embodied cognition thesis, according to which cognition is supported by the body and the physical world and developmental psychology research, suggesting that manipulation of physical objects can promote understanding and learning. Alongside traditional physicalizations of statistical data, there also exist physicalizations of personal data, for example heartrate patterns, DNA data, one’s emotional states during the course of the week, etc. Research shows that such physicalizations, often embodied into everyday objects to promote familiarity and intuitive interaction, stimulate self-reflection as well as social interactions by telling others the stories behind the data. Some researchers thought about using data physicalizations as gifts and created example of such gifting artifacts. However, the design process of these artifacts was not based on the user research; nor were the physicalization gifts evaluated in any way. This is the gap that we are addressing in this master thesis, and the goal of our project was therefore to create and evaluate a personal data physicalization present using the human centered design approach. We started our work by conducting user research: performing interviews and defining the important characteristics of the future physicalisation gift. It was followed by a brainstorming session of possible design solutions and creation of the prototype. The prototype was then tested with users, addressing understandability of the data presented in the physicalisation and subjective perception of the gift. Our documentation of the findings and the research process provides a new step in the research of personal data physicalisations and lays out new topics for future investigations. Schlüsselwörter: Gruppenstimmung, Vertrautheit, Teamvertrauen, Längsschnittdesign N2 - A widely used approach to improving performance is teamwork, whereby people can be influenced and benefit from various factors when working together. However, as collaboration becomes more diverse and complex, the aim of the thesis is to investigate the relationship between selected factors critical to success in order to contribute to more effective team composition. This raises the research question of how the constructs of familiarity, team trust and group affective tone are related. Therefore, a longitudinal study was conducted with psychology students. The students completed an online questionnaire at three measurement points. In the end, a data set of N = 134 was recorded. In order to aggregate the data at group level, the rwg and the ICC (1) and ICC (2) were calculated. However, the requirement for data aggregation was not met, which is why the statistical data analysis had to be carried out at individual level. The intra- and interpersonal correlations of the constructs were examined using the correlation for repeated measures and linear regression. Familiarity was found to be positively related to trust and positive affecctive tone. It was also found that a positive affective tone favors the level of trust. In addition, a mediation was carried out to work out the significance of positive affective tone on the relationship between familiarity and trust. The results confirm the assumed realationships and show the importance of familiarity and positive affective tone. Practical and theoretical implications are discussed. Moreover, UA largely mitigates the negative impacts associated with conventional agriculture systems such as soil degradation, high resource usage, crop sensitivity towards climate change, and high fertilizer usage. UA is often complimented for its significant potential for producing higher yield nevertheless, for extensive use of UA, an in-depth understand- ing of its environmental impacts is required. For any UA methodology, environmental performance acts as a promising factor in promoting agriculture sustainability. This study performs critical analyses of available literature on UA techniques using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). LCA provides a comprehensive understanding of UA’s environmental footprint across different stages of its life cycle. LCA facilitates the quantification of eco- logical impacts associated with various UA approaches, including vertical farming, roof- top farming, hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics. This study utilizes a systematic review methodology, incorporating the PRISMA model, to conduct a comprehensive data collection process aimed at identifying the LCA of diverse UA methods and their associated impacts. The review addresses the following questions: How does LCA help in quantifying the environmental impacts of UA? What is the environmental performance of different UA techniques? The findings demonstrated that nearly every form of UA exhibited a notable advantage in yield, and efficiency in water usage and land usage. Specifically, aeroponics stands out for its superior performance in yield and water usage efficiency, albeit with elevated energy demands. Hydroponics and aquaponics showcase advantages in reduced water usage and fertilizer requirements. Vertical farms, due to their structural and Controlled Environment (CE) prerequisites, present as energy-intensive systems with higher Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. In contrast, rooftop farms, making use of under-utilised urban spaces, emerge as a balanced system with moderate energy consumption and GHG emissions. The environmental impact of UA techniques varies based on factors such as structure, operational components, crop selection, and the integration of innovative technologies, resulting in diverse outcomes when compared to conventional soil-based farms. This review recommended an extensive LCA of UA techniques, innovation to existing methodologies, urban reforms, and increased awareness about UA. Y1 - 2024 ER - TY - THES A1 - Gehrmann, Bastian T1 - The Impact of Planted Green Facades on Biodiversity and Tem perature in the immediate Surroundings of urban Buildings N2 - People and nature are affected by climate change in different ways. The effects of diminishing green spaces, increasing sealed spaces, and higher summer temperatures are particularly noticeable in built-up and urban areas. The constant use of land and development means that insect habitats, which are essential to a functioning ecosystem, are being lost. But this development is not only problematic for insects: increased sealing also increases the potential risk of the heat island effect, which poses a threat to human health. One possible solution for providing habitat and food for insects in urban areas could be green façade systems. These could partially restore ecosystem services lost to development and have a positive effect on ambient temperature through shading of the building and evaporation from the plants. In order to measure this effect of façade greening on the environment, in particular on insect diversity and insect population, this work measured the number of insects using two different counting methods over several days on two external façades, one with façade greening and one without. In addition, to determine the effect of the green façade on the ambient temperature, the temperature was measured at different parts of the façades at both measurement locations. The result of the work is that the façade with plants has a significantly higher insect biodiversity and insect density than the façade without plants. Temperatures are cooler, in most cases, on a green façade. However, they are not particularly significant and show large fluctuations. The paper also outlines a possible way of analysing demand and developing a possible sales concept. Purified pig insulin, pancreas, islet, and beta cells are biological resources synthesized, extracted, and isolated from pigs to provide medical services like treating human diabetes. The observed methodology was obtained by systematically reviewing and comparing other similar scientific studies to determine the challenges and risks associated with using pig grafts (islet, pancreas, beta cells) for the treatment of type 1 diabetes (T1D), the optimal pig age for extracting graft for treatment of diabetes, differences between human and pig insulin, and the clinical trials and adoption pig insulin and graft therapies for type 1 diabetes treatment. Xenotransplantation of pig grafts has successfully restored normoglycemia in a Type 1 diabetes patient for about 9.5 years, thus potentially being an alternative therapy to human islet allotransplantation. However, the clinical adoption of using pig grafts for diabetes treatment is hindered by the unavailability of T1D volunteers to be used for clinical trials because of risks like zoonosis, loss of body weight, immunosuppression, and death of the transplanted pig implant. Xenotransplantation of pig grafts to T1D can be clinically accepted through advanced practices like Genetic modifications of the pig, encapsulating the pig grafts before transplantation, and co-transplantation of the pig grafts with Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSCs) and/or Sertoli cells (SCs). The clinical adoption of pig grafts for T1D treatment will mitigate the problem of limited islet/pancreas donor sources encountered in allotransplantation, hence more research and studies are needed for this milestone to be accomplished. Y1 - 2023 ER - TY - THES A1 - Guttkowski, Lena T1 - Enrichment of Bacillus anthracis using phage-derived recombinant fusion proteins N2 - Bacillus anthracis is a rod-shaped, Gram-positive, spore-forming bacterium causing the lethal zoonotic disease anthrax. This disease mainly infects herbivores, but many mammals can be hosts as well, including humans. Multiple cases in history are known, in which human infection resulted either from digestion or handling of contaminated animal products, from industry accidents or bioterrorism attacks. The endospores of B. anthracis are persistent to harsh environmental conditions and can survive in soil for decades, before heavy rains or grazing animals can reemerge the spores again. In appropriate medium, like blood, the spores germinate again to the vegetative cell form. B. anthracis belongs to the “Bacillus cereus group” which shares high genetic similarity, with cases where the virulence plasmids of B. anthracis, which are responsible for the toxin and capsule production, are even shared with other members of this group. Species-specific testing therefore often poses a challenge, because sophisticated equipment and financial investments are needed for a correct diagnosis. Because of appearing new infection cases, a species-specific, rapid and inexpensive method for the detection of B. anthracis is needed. Apart from the gold standard of detection of B. anthracis via PCR, receptor-binding protein (RBP) based detection methods are in research for a few years. Bacteriophages (phages) represent the most prevalent biological entities on earth and are viruses targeting bacterial cells. Brown and Cherry isolated a phage named gamma (γ), demonstrating high efficiency in infecting encapsulated bacilli. Notably, the γ phage exhibited sensitivity across nearly all variants of B. anthracis, while members of the B. cereus sensu lato group displayed resistance. The specificity of phages is attributed to their RBPs, which recognize distinct structures on the host cell, inducing the initial step of phage infection. One of these RBPs specific for B. anthracis is BA4079Δ1-127. This work aims to produce two recombinant fusion proteins, with two different cellulose-binding domains (CBDs) which were internally linked to the fluorescent reporter protein superfolder green fluorescent protein (sfGFP) and coupled to BA4079Δ1-127. The protein tools would enable binding to B. anthracis and at the same time would allow sequestration to cellulose materials. Because of the fluorescence protein, the sample can be observed by fluorescence microscopy and cells or cellulose bound to the fusion proteins would exhibit green fluorescence. This experimental approach could lead to a new low-cost enrichment tool for B. anthracis cells using the fusions proteins containing CBDs, RBPs and fluorescence proteins. The fusion proteins were tested with various cultures of B. anthracis cells, grown under different conditions, as well as different cellulose materials including cotton wool in a syringe, cotton wool fibers, cellulose filters and microcrystalline cellulose. Binding tests showed, that the fusion proteins were not able to connect B. anthracis cells with diverse cellulose materials in a way that cells could be enriched from media. However, both fusion proteins successfully bound to both, cultured B. anthracis cells and different cellulose materials individually. This research underscores the environmental benefits of utilizing biochar as a soil amendment, given its porous structure, carbon and nutrient retention capacity, and potential to enhance plant development and soil quality. By evaluating the impact of pyrolysis biochar from sewage sludge on plant growth and compatibility, the research aims to provide valuable insights for sustainable agricultural practices and waste management strategies. Pot trials were conducted in the university greenhouse, incorporating findings from a range of prior studies as a guiding framework. Diverse plant species were selected for experimentation, aiming to assess both plant compatibility and the influence of pyrolyzed biochar. This research investigates the contextual influence of sewage sludge biochar on water-holding capacity (WHC) across different soil types. Contrasting effects were observed, with silty clay loam experiencing decreased WHC and sandy loam exhibiting an increase, highlighting the soil- specific impact of biochar on water retention. Gaseous toxicity and phytotoxicity tests confirmed the absence of harmful gases, challenging previous findings. Plant compatibility tests underscored species-specific responses, emphasizing the need for tailored approaches when utilizing biochar as a soil amendment. Germination tests supported the idea that biochar does not adversely affect seed germination. Root analysis revealed biochar-induced fine root proliferation, suggesting enhanced nutrient availability for plants. Several industries implement technological elements in today’s dynamic industrial landscape for smooth and efficient productivity. By presenting an overview of the digital elements used in the game and the industries, this paper assists in comparing the industrial elements to the game. The framework involves an analysis of technologies commonly used in the industries to establish connectivity of the game. Thus, the primary concern of this paper comprises the evaluation of the industrial elements of the game through a feasibility study to design a roadmap for further development of the game. Supplementary materials and supporting documents can be found in the appendices of the thesis, expanding the approach of the game. Because of climate change, Europe is expected to see an even higher number of floods in the coming decade. As floods cannot be prevented, understanding the pattern and causes and being able to forecast could significantly reduce the losses during the flood. In July 2021, Germany faced a catastrophic flood, taking more than 180 people’s lives and causing around 40 billion euros of economic loss. To study the flooded region and the region at high risk, the Flood event 2021 has been visualized in this research. The Flood map has been created using a sentinel-1 image. In the visualization, floods in the Rhine River and Arh River can be seen, and the change in the pattern of flood from 12th July to 16th July has also been observed. Different models exist that try to predict floods and warn as early as possible. Since Machine learning is popular nowadays in every sector, ML models have been implemented in this study to forecast the flood. The SARIMA, Random Forest, and LSTM have been implemented using historical data to predict the flood. The Random Forest model performed better than the remaining two models. The Isolation Forest model has also been implemented to classify the data into Flood and No Flood. This model performs well with the Flood classes but struggles in capturing the No Flood class. Collaborating with CODUCT Solutions GmbH, this research aims to enhance GKK’s operational efficiency and user experience in their digital transformation journey, focusing on Project Baldeney, a cloud-native platform that automates content management workflows. The thesis begins by outlining the limitations of traditional, static methods of form rendering, highlighting the implications for development time and error frequency. It identifies the fragmentation in the existing API-driven architectures as a critical issue affecting system reliability and user experience. Against this backdrop, the work proposes a unified, API-driven framework to dynamically render forms for many user actions, such as data input and transactions. The research takes a deep dive into existing systems—particularly Informatica’s Product Information Management (PIM) software and the new software in development Article Workbench to identify user experience issues, inefficiencies, and the complexities involved. Through this examination, it offers a targeted solution to integrate various components of form management, like building, parsing, validation, and rendering, into a cohesive system. The thesis aims to contribute to software development and user experience design substantially, by targeting improved development efficiency, reduced errors, and enhanced system reliability. By achieving these objectives, the research aspires to furnish GKK with a robust solution for dynamic form rendering, thereby enhancing both user satisfaction and system performance in the fast-evolving digital landscape.
