    <title language="eng">Catalytic upgrading of ablative fast pyrolysis vapors with different catalysts</title>
    <abstract language="eng">As the fuel demands are increasing and oil reserves are depleting, the need for alternative fuels is becoming increasingly necessary. Fast pyrolysis has received considerable attention in the conversion of biomass into bio-oils which can be used for transportation fuel production. However, bio-oil produced from conventional fast pyrolysis has poor quality mainly due to its high amount of oxygenated compounds and requires upgrading before it can be used as transportation fuel. Catalytic upgrading is a prospective process in which oxygen can be removed from the bio-oil using a catalyst, which was studied in this paper. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the catalytic effects of six applied catalysts on the quality of the bio-oil derived from wheat/barley straw biomass. Fast pyrolysis of the biomass feedstock was performed in an ablative reactor at 550 ℃, and the pyrolysis vapors were led through a catalytic layer (at 400 ℃) in a second reactor for upgrading. Different properties were analyzed for evaluating the quality of the upgraded bio-oils, including water content (for calculating organic content), total acid number (TAN), higher heating value (HHV), elemental composition, and chemical composition. &#13;
&#13;
It was found that all catalysts, especially activated carbons (SC40 and SC44), reduced the tarry phase yield with increasing aqueous yield, resulting in the upgraded bio-oils with lower carbon and higher oxygen contents due to their catalytic activities. Moreover, the use of catalysts significantly reduced the sulfur content，making the final bio-oils more attractive due to the environmental concerns. SC40 was the best catalyst in increasing phenols yield and decreasing acids and ketones yields. The zeolite catalysts showed good selectivity to phenols production; the increasing load of nickel ions (Ni) on HZSM-5 slightly enhanced the formation of phenols and eliminated the formation of acids and ketones compared to unmodified HZSM-5. The upgraded bio-oil is still not qualified to be used as transportation fuels. However, it can be used as feedstock for producing specific chemicals in the modern refineries.

    <title language="deu">Grundlagen und Relevanz der Unternehmenskultur im Rahmen der Organisationsentwicklung: Evaluation der Methoden zur Kulturtransformation</title>
    <abstract language="eng">The issue-area of organizational culture gained pertinence over the last few decades. Scientists found out that organizational culture has a significant impact on the success of organizations. Because of the fast-moving environment of companies, firms have to build up capabilities to react quickly to those environmental changes and adapt. Adapting means changing and as the culture of an organization is the fundamental base it has to change, too. &#13;
Deduced from that development in science this paper investigates methods to change organizational culture and evaluates which of these methods are sensible to do so. The interventions Laboratory Training, Survey Feedback and Process Consultation are compared by assessing studies that tested the effect of those methods. &#13;
The results of that comparison show that all three intervention types are useful to change organizational culture but for different cultural aspects and in different stages of the change process. Laboratory Training should be applied at the beginning of the change process in order to change attitude and strengthen the commitment to change. Survey Feedback should be used whilst developing the new culture to obtain feedback from employees and increase their involvement in the change process. Finally Process Consultation can support the implementation of the new culture in specific departments. Because these findings are mostly based on older studies, future research should focus on newer methods and explicit on methods to change culture.

    <title language="eng">Radar Signal Distortion caused by Directional Vibration of a 24 GHz FMCW System</title>
    <abstract language="eng">This thesis is an initial attempt to investigate the influence of mechanical vibrations on the 24 GHz FMCW radar developed by IMST GmbH and develop a simple vibration compensation model for the human tracking algorithm.&#13;
&#13;
The project objectives are to determine the radar signal distortion caused by vibrations theoretically, conduct simulations to evaluate the effects of vibrations on the human tracking process, and develop a basic model to compensate the disturbing vibrations.&#13;
&#13;
The single radar pulse simulations conclude that when the radar is vibrating at a low frequency, the signal would not be distorted if the change of phase of the intermediate frequency is less than half a resolution cell. While the results from the multiple radar pulses simulations reveal that factors like the SNR value, vibrating amplitude and the target’s velocity would influence the human tracking process. The higher the SNR value, vibrating amplitude and target’s velocity, the more the detected ghost targets when there is only one target presence. A signal demodulation method is then proposed which indicate the possibility in reducing the disturbance caused by the vibrations.

    <title language="eng">Hardware Design and RF Performance Evaluation of a Long Range 2.4 GHz Radio Module</title>
Low–power, long–range wireless solutions are needed for transmission of environmental and industrial monitoring data from remote, battery–driven sensors. Chirp spread spectrum (CSS) modulation techniques are able to meet these requirements. A CSS–based radio module was designed to operate in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, whose advantages are worldwide availability, lack of duty–cycle restrictions and a broad spectrum. The module’s power consumption is satisfactory, but its range has to be improved. The accuracy of time-of-flight (ToF) distance estimation, an extra feature of the module, has not been evaluated. Impedance matching, transmission lines and printed circuit board design are among the practical aspects discussed, while ToF ranging and orthogonality of CSS signals are considered from a theoretical point of view.

    <title language="eng">Global Mobility - Failure or Success and possible Improvements of the Reintegration of International Assignments</title>
In the current era of globalization and internationalization, markets spread across borders and companies need to line up internationally. The question is how to manage the employees in this global context. This study looks at the use of international assignments as a solution of transferring employees internationally. Especially, this paper focuses on the reintegration of internally assigned employees. Corresponding to the literature, the reintegration proves to be the most difficult stage in an international assignment, as most companies still underestimate the impact and do not invest sufficient in this phase. Therefore, the thesis aims to identify how the reintegration is handled in organizations and which aspects can be considered as critical in this process. Consequently, on the basis of analysis, the author comes up with improvement options. In order, to receive detailed insights in the experiences and opinions of dispatched employees and human resource managers of multinational companies, the author used a qualitative research method (expert interviews). Results show that there is not a great need for cultural reintegration measures, as expatriates assume coming home to be easy and human resource managers do not see the willingness and demand for such arrangements. Anyhow, interviewees described problems in the new work environment and mentioned the request for some enhancements. Therefore, this thesis discusses improvement options for the re-entry, including a reintegration plan set in agreement with the employee and the company before the assignment.

    <title language="deu">Untersuchung der Vorgehensweise ausgewählter Internetplattformen gegen gefälschte Online-Bewertungen</title>
    <abstract language="deu">Diese Arbeit dokumentiert ein Experiment zur Untersuchung des Umgangs von Facebook, Google Maps, Google Play Store und Zalando mit gefälschten Bewertungen („Opinion Spam“). Es wurde untersucht, ob die Plattformen im Rahmen dieser Arbeit abgegebene gefälschte Bewertungen veröffentlichen. Dazu wurden je Plattform 24 unterschiedlich authentisch wirkende Konten erstellt. Mit diesen wurden je 48 gefälschte Bewertungen nach folgenden Kriterien abgegeben: 1) Kopierte Produkt-/Ortsbeschreibung oder Werbesprache 2) Aussagen ohne Produkt-/Ortsbezug oder inhaltliche Fehler 3) Blindtexte oder sehr viele Rechtschreibfehler 4) eine Meinung verknüpft mit der Aussage, dass der Bewertende das Produkt/den Ort nicht kennt. Innerhalb von 14 Tagen wurde mehrmals überprüft, ob eine Bewertung freigeschaltet oder gelöscht wurde. &#13;
Bei Facebook wurden 6,7% der abgegebenen Bewertungen innerhalb der ersten 14 Tage gelöscht. Nachdem die verbleibenden Bewertungen der Plattform gemeldet wurden, waren es 47,7%. Bei Google Maps wurden 4,2% entfernt, im Google Play Store 12,5% (bei beiden keine Änderung durch Melden). Bei Zalando (kein Melden möglich) war die eigenständige Löschquote mit 43,8% mit Abstand am höchsten. Besonders häufig wurden im Experiment Blindtexte gelöscht. Positive und negative Bewertungen wurden nahezu gleich oft entfernt. Bewertungen von Konten mit simulierter Nutzerinteraktion wurden häufiger gelöscht als Bewertungen von Konten ohne Nutzerinteraktion.&#13;
    <abstract language="eng">This bachelor thesis contains the documentation of an experiment to evaluate how Facebook, Google Maps, Google Play Store and Zalando deal with fake reviews (“opinion spam”). Measured was whether the platforms publish or delete fake reviews submitted in the context of this work. For this purpose, 24 accounts with different attributes according to age and user interaction were created on each platform. With those accounts 48 reviews per platform were submitted based on the following criteria: 1) Copied product/location description or advertising-language 2) reviews without product/location reference or contextual errors 3) Blind texts or many spelling mistakes 4) reviews which contain an opinion but state that the author does not know the product/location. &#13;
6.7% of the reviews submitted to Facebook were deleted within the first 14 days, 47.7% after reporting the remaining reviews to Facebook. Google Maps deleted 4.2%, Google Play Store 12.5% (both showed no changes after reporting). Zalando (no reporting possible) has the by far highest independent deletion rate with 43.8%. Blind texts were most often deleted during the experiment. Positive and negative ratings were deleted almost the same number of times. Reviews from accounts with simulated user interaction were deleted more often than reviews from accounts without user interaction.&#13;
The experiment showed that many fake reviews, which contradict the guidelines of the platforms, were not deleted. But their visibility varies depending on platform and product/location. The creation of many accounts at the services does not require too much effort. If users want to publish fake reviews according to the criteria used in the experiment, the platforms do not really hinder them.

    <title language="eng">The Disclosure of Alternative Performance Measures at the German Capital Market</title>
While the regulation of non-standardized, voluntarily disclosed earnings figures – so- called Alternative Performance Measures (APMs) – has been part of the standard setting for over a decade now in the USA, the first extensive legally binding regulations for the EU and Germany have been coming into action in 2016 with the ESMA Guidelines on Alternative Performance Measures. In order to evaluate the impact of the guidelines on the APM reporting behavior of German large stock-listed companies, the annual reports of an adjusted sample of DAX30 and MDAX corporations are examined for the financial years 2014, 2015, and 2016. The empirical results show a slight decrease in the dissemination of APMs when comparing the results for 2015 and 2016. Moreover, the portion of companies reconciling the adjustments made in the calculation of APMs has increased significantly in the post-ESMA Guidelines period while the number of annual reports without any reconciliation has declined simultaneously. Furthermore, the results indicate a significant decrease in the amount of adjustments between normal and modified earnings figures that are published by the same company when comparing the periods prior and subsequent to the issuance of the ESMA Guidelines. A comparison to the developments in the USA following Regulation G shows a much smaller impact of the ESMA Guidelines on the countries’ companies. Nonetheless, this may be due to the differences in structure and competencies between the securities authorities in the US and the EU. However, it can be concluded that by reversing the trend of an increasing use of APMs, the ESMA has achieved some of its goals.

    <title language="eng">Minimum Quality Requirements for Water Reuse in Agricultural Irrigation: A Review of Legislation in the European Union.</title>
    <abstract language="eng">The European Commission has identified water reuse "as a possible other way of mitigating the impacts of severe drought" (European Union: European Commission, 2007) and is thus stepping up efforts to encourage water reuse in the Union (European Union: European Commission, 2012a). In order to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks associated with this practise, and ensure compliance with the laws, the clear identification and sound knowledge of existing or developing limit values of water quality is of crucial importance, when planning and creating water reuse schemes.&#13;
In this study, the water quality requirements in terms of limit values of treated waste water for agricultural irrigation set in the legislation of different countries and regions (i.e. European Union, Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia, Italy and Spain) were investigated. In the eventuality of a regulatory gap, the requirements set in other pieces of legislation regulating the quality of water for agricultural irrigation or other uses were provided. The purpose of this work is to support the decision making of a subject planning to reuse water for agricultural irrigation, but is not aware of the legal framework regulating this activity.

    <title language="eng">Employability of Chinese Overseas Returnees</title>
In the past years, the benefits of overseas studies have brought many Chinese returnees with some advantages to enhance their employability in the Chinese labor market. However, with a large number of overseas Chinese students returning to work in recent years, some disadvantages of returnees gradually appear that the experiences of studying abroad have been unable to satisfy domestic employers’ needs. In this bachelor’s thesis, the questions on “whether overseas studies still maintain the large benefits on employability for the majority of returned Chinese overseas students, and if not, what are the reasons?” were answered to explore the employability between Chinese returnees and the local graduates. In order to get better analysis, appropriate methods (secondary analysis, literature review, questionnaire, and so forth) were implemented during the study, which questionnaire was considered as the main research measure to update the current condition. The results were somewhat different from the previous studies which indicated a more positive attitude towards the returnees’ employability. Overseas qualifications were not considered as a decisive factor for employment in the Chinese market that more comprehensive experiences were required. Overall, the thesis is possible to provide people with a clearer understanding in the current employability of Chinese students under different study background.

    <title language="eng">Differences in root morphology of modern wheat and barley varieties and their wild ancestors</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Sustainable agriculture requires plants which are able to absorb water and nutrients more efficiently to avoid losses and to reduce negative effects on the environment. Root traits are vitally important to fulfill these aims. Therefore, it is important to better understand root morphology of common cereals, such as wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) and their wild relatives. Wild wheat and barley relatives have a superior root system and thus may provide a valuable biological resource for breeding stress tolerant cereals in the future. The objectives of this research were to characterize the variability of root traits among modern wheat and barley cultivars and their wild forms. &#13;
Fifteen wheat and nine barley cultivars and wild forms were grown under optimal growth conditions without addition of nutrients in a greenhouse experiment. Cultivars and wild forms showed a high genetic variation in root morphology, as well as in shoot traits. Cultivars were divided into three domestication categories: wild forms, old cultivars and modern cultivars. A high variability while comparing cultivars at domestication level showed that it is a 4 weak predictor for root traits. A deep and large root system, high root length density and a high root to shoot ratio were identified as being beneficial traits for efficient nutrient and water uptake. T. aestivum var. tschermakianum, Aegilops cylindrica, H. vulgare hexastichon and H. lagunculiforme had highest values for these traits.

    <title language="deu">Organisationales Lernen: Methoden zur Förderung organisationaler Lernprozesse mit Hilfe mentaler Modelle</title>
