    <title language="eng">Interactive Visualisation Tool for Teaching Environmental Data: A Guideline of how to set up the tool taking user feedback into account</title>
    <abstract language="eng">This thesis will study the creation of an interactive data visualization tool for environmental dataset that concentrates specifically on Nitrate concentrations in groundwater. This project is intended to create a tool for exploratory/experiential learning - one that allows learners to investigate regional data and pursue genuine learning opportunities. The plan is to use regional data in a specific user journey to create this interactive learning experience. The project uses open environmental data: Hygris dataset of LANUV(Landesamt für Natur, Umwelt und Verbraucherschutz) related to the regions Kleve and Wesel in Germany, and realizes this with help of python programming language and python streamlit framework, web development tools and data visualization libraries (pandas , plotly.express, streamlite.components.v1).&#13;
This study explores tailored visualization strategies that address key challenges such as the inherent complexity of environmental datasets and the need for more engaging and comprehensible educational tools. These strategies include deploying interactive visualizations that allow hands-on data exploration, and temporal visualizations. The role of user feedback in refining educational tools for teaching environmental data is examined, particularly in designing effective visualization techniques like line char, bar chart, bubble chart, pie chart, scatter plot and intensity graph for representing groundwater nitrate concentrations. The impact of different visualization techniques on the understanding and interpretation of open environmental data among educators and students is analyzed, with an emphasis on the spatial distribution of groundwater nitrate concentrations over time. This approach aims to increase user engagement and deepen understanding of environmental data, facilitating a more profound embedding of information within learners' cognitive processes.

    <title language="eng">Assessment of Emissions from Pig Transportation using the GLEC-Framework</title>
With the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and the EU-Taxonomy, the European Union has introduced mandatory sustainability reporting for certain companies to which slaughterhouses and food retailers belong to. Any emission causing practices along the complete supply chain have to be reported on, so that stakeholders and investors have better access to information for their assessment of the respective companies. In the area of animal production, the current literature deems emissions from live-animal transports as negligible, thus the majority of research focused mainly on assessing emission from on-farm operations. In conjunction with the development of an emissions calculator for live-animal transports, this paper deployed the in 2023 released Global-Logistics-Emissions-Council-Framework v3 for the first time to different exemplary transportation scenarios of live-pigs (Sus scrof domesticus) in Germany. The results showed that indeed the contribution of live-animal transport to the total emissions of animal products is significantly low. However, the assessed emissions are still a valuable parameter for sustainability reports as more data enables more accurate evaluations by stakeholders.

    <title language="eng">DECOLONIZING THE INDIGENOUS FEMALE BODY IN BOLIVIA: BRAIDS AND ATTIRE.</title>
This thesis explores the decolonization of the Indigenous female body in Bolivia, focusing on the cultural significance of traditional attire and hair practices among Chola women. It examines how the pollera (traditional skirt) and braids, initially imposed during the colonial era, have been reappropriated as symbols of cultural pride and resistance against ongoing discrimination. Through ethnographic research, including interviews and digital ethnography, this study investigates how Chola women navigate and redefine their identities within a society marked by racial and social hierarchies. The research draws upon postcolonial feminist theories, particularly the works of Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Aníbal Quijano, and María Lugones, to analyze the complex interplay of power, representation, and agency in the context of Bolivian Chola culture. The findings highlight the resilience and agency of Chola women in transforming symbols of oppression into powerful expressions of cultural identity and resistance, contributing to a more nuanced understanding of their experiences in contemporary Bolivian society.

    <title language="eng">Using the U-Net Model for Steel Microstructure Identification and Analysis</title>
    <abstract language="eng">This thesis presents the development and training of a U-Net- a convolutional neural network (CNN) model for the segmentation and classification of 4 microstructural phases in C45 steel: retained austenite, martensite, pearlite, and ferrite. It also features the steps taken to prepare the metallographic samples. The U-Net was designed and developed for biomedical microscopy&#13;
imaging but has a wide array of uses for semantic segmentation in other fields as well. Utilizing Nital-etched microscopy images, the network was trained to identify and differentiate between these microstructures, which is critical for determining the mechanical properties of the steel.&#13;
The dataset is comprised of a set of 35 grayscale images, and its corresponding labels/masks annotated with 4 colours for the various phases. Moreover, this thesis is an attempt at using deep learning to segregate retained austenite from martensite through visual LOM methods, as opposed to EBSD and XRD which are the widely used methods for identifying and quantifying retained austenite in a sample. The trained network demonstrated reasonable performance in segmenting the microstructural components. This research highlights the potential of deep learning approaches in materials science, particularly for automating the analysis of metallographic images, contributing to more efficient and precise material characterization.

    <title language="eng">Comparative Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) Of Tomato Production in Spain and Northern Germany</title>
    <abstract language="eng">The environmental impact of year-round greenhouse vegetable production, particularly in high latitude region such as the Emsland district in Lower Saxony, Germany, has raised concerns. It has latitude 52,362324 and longitude 7,269548 with temperature from 10°C to 25 in summer and temperature ranges from -1°C to 7°C in winter. In this context, two gardens with different&#13;
climatic conditions, represented by the gardeners DE from Germany and ES from Spain, were considered. The latter is located at latitude 41,39467 and longitude 2,157998, with summer temperatures ranging from 20 to 30°C and winter temperatures from 10 to 15°C. Greenhouse vegetable production requires significant energy inputs for heating and lighting, particularly&#13;
during the winter months. However, the environmental implications of using renewable energy sources like hydroelectricity and the effects of other production strategies on the environment have not been adequately investigated. To address this knowledge gap, a life cycle assessment (LCA) of greenhouse tomato production for year-round production in 2022&#13;
has been conducted, including processes from seedling planting in a pre-build greenhouse structure to distribution at two locations: the ES Gardner in Spain and the DE Gardner in Germany. The study used the OpenLCA software and followed the ReCipe 2016 Mid-Point (H) impact assessment methodology. Our analysis revealed that, across the two main production seasons, the highest global warming potential (GW) was observed during year-round production in Spain. The following aspects were discovered to have a significant influence on&#13;
the environmental impact: Packaging material, transportation, heating systems, electricity, land usage, and irrigation methods. Overall, it was determined that year-round production in Germany had the least detrimental environmental impact among the examined production types. The use of packaging material, electricity for heating the greenhouse and transportation&#13;
was the primary contributor to most of the impact categories. Conversely, the application of fertilizers and manures during extended seasonal and year-round production had a lower environmental impact.

    <title language="eng">A Systematic Review of Rapamycin- Mediated Fetal Hemoglobin Induction via the mTOR Pathway</title>
mTOR inhibitor rapamycin has been observed to induce fetal hemoglobin in patients of β-hemoglobinopathies, a group of disorders in which mutations in the gene responsible β-globin chains results in reduced or malformed RBC production, leading to anemia. The induction of fetal hemoglobin bypasses these mutations, as they are found on the gene responsible for adult hemoglobin. Following birth, the fetal hemoglobin gene is silenced, and the adult gene is activated through a process known as the hemoglobin switch. Rapamycin treatment reverses this hemoglobin switch but the mechanism by which it does so is currently unknown. Rapamycin functions through its inhibition of mTORC1, a protein complex responsible for nutrient- and growth factor-dependent cell growth and proliferation. This literature review seeks to collate existing information on the mTORC1 signalling pathway and the hemoglobin switch, allowing for a specific mechanism by which rapamycin induces fetal hemoglobin through its inhibition of mTORC1 to be hypothesized. Following the literature search, 55 studies on the mTORC1 pathway and 31 studies on the hemoglobin switch were summarized. Using the information gained from this, three hypotheses were put forward for the possible induction mechanism, out of which the primary hypothesis is based on the hemoglobin switching factor KLF1. This was based on the observation that the knockdown of Raptor, a crucial component of mTORC1, in mice caused a decreased expression of KLF1. As KLF1 is an essential component of the hemoglobin switch, this provides a direct link between the inhibition of mTORC1 and the reversal of the hemoglobin switch. Additionally, the efficiency of rapamycin in comparison to other methods of fetal hemoglobin was discussed, including newer generations of mTOR inhibitors developed using rapamycin as a foundation. Finally, possible avenues of research to confirm the validity of the proposed hypotheses and to address points of ignorance within each topic were discussed.

    <title language="deu">Entwicklung von Handlungsansätzen einer adressatenorientierten Förderung der psychischen Gesundheit jugendlicher Schülerinnen und Schüler in Ganztagsschulen</title>
    <abstract language="deu">Nicht nur die Covid-19-Pandemie wirkte auf die allgemeine Verschlechterung der psychischen Gesundheit von Jugendlichen in Deutschland. Das Erleben vielseitiger Entwicklungen in der Jugendzeit machen diese Lebensphase zu einer psychisch vulnerablen Zeit. Gleichzeitig haben Schulen einen großen Einfluss auf das Leben der Schülerinnen und Schüler und bilden für die psychische Gesundheitsförderung einen zentralen Wirkungsort. Besonders Ganztagsschulen zeichnen sich durch erweiterte Betreuungszeiten und Ressourcen aus. Wünsche und Interessen der Schülerinnen und Schüler werden sowohl in der Gesundheitsförderung als auch in der Ganztagsschule selten erhoben und einbezogen (vgl. BMFSFJ, 2017).&#13;
Die vorliegende Arbeit geht der Frage nach, welche adressatenorientierten Handlungsansätze aus der aktuellen Forschungslage zur Förderung der psychischen Gesundheit im Setting Schule für jugendliche Schülerinnen und Schüler an Ganztagsschulen abgeleitet werden können. Ziel ist die Ableitung adressatenorientierter, auf Ganztagsschulen ausgerichteter Handlungsansätze.&#13;
Zur Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage wurde mithilfe einer systematischen Literaturrecherche der aktuelle Forschungsstand der psychischen Gesundheitsförderung im Setting Schule erhoben. Auf Grundlage der analysierten Ergebnisse wurden adressatenorientierte Handlungsansätze diskutiert. &#13;
Die Ergebnisse zeigen den Bedarf der Edukation von Lehrkräften in der Früherkennung psychischer Krankheiten, die zusammen mit ganztagsschulischen Unterstützungsnetzwerken das Potenzial tragen, Schülerinnen und Schüler frühzeitig zu unterstützen. Des Weiteren hebt sich unter Orientierung am Adressaten die Dringlichkeit einer geschlechtersensibleren psychischen Gesundheitsförderung ab. Des Weiteren werden fehlende entwicklungsorientierte und partizipative Formen der psychischen Gesundheitsförderung festgestellt. Ganztagsschulen, die sich als Teil der Lebenswelt ihrer Schülerinnen und Schüler verstehen, können schulische und psychische Faktoren stärken. &#13;

    <title language="deu">Auswirkung von Tensiden auf die Genexpression und die Zusammensetzung der mikrobiellen Gemeinschaft von Abflussbiofilmen</title>
    <abstract language="deu">In dieser Arbeit wurde eine Methodik zur Untersuchung von intl1-Prävalenz von Abflussbiofilmen entwickelt sowie eine mögliche Verschiebung der mikrobiellen Gemeinschaft bei Inkubation mit unterschiedlichen Tensidgruppen analysiert. Die Ergebnisse zeigten inhomogene Reaktionen fünf ausgewählter Biofilmproben, welche aus Siphons von Handwaschbecken eines Krankenhauses sowie der Hochschule Rhein-Waal entnommen wurden. Die Proben wurden jeweils zu einer Biofilmsuspension verarbeitet, um diese anschließenden den Tensiden Dodecylsulfat Natriumsalz (anionisch), Cocamidopropyl Betain (zwitterionisch), Fettalkohol- Ethoxylat (nicht-ionisch) und Benzalkoniumchlorid (kationisch) auszusetzten. Das ex situ-Modell wurde mit drei Konzentrationen eines Tensids angelegt, sodass die mittlere Konzentration der CMC entspricht und jeweils eine Konzentration oberhalb sowie unterhalb dessen liegt. Ein Nährmedienwechsel fand alle 48 bis 72 Stunden statt, wobei zeitnah unterschiedliche phänotypische Entwicklung, wie die Synthese von Biofilmen mit Pilzgeflechten sichtbar wurde. Die geringste Biofilmentwicklung wurde bei dem kationischen Tensid Benzalkoniumchlorid ersichtlich, sodass für die Ergebnisanalyse drei Biofilme ausgewählt wurden und die höchste Konzentration 3 nicht ausgewertet wurde. Die relative Integron-Prävalenz der DNA und RNA wurde anhand der qPCR und mithilfe von Standards der 16S und intl1 ermittelt. Die Auswertung der Ergebnisse zeigte keinen signifikanten Zusammenhang zwischen der relativen Prävalenz und dem eingesetzten Tensid, dennoch konnte ein Trend abgeleitet werden, sodass der Einsatz von Benzalkoniumchlorid den höchsten Einfluss auf das Vorhandensein, sowie die Expression des intl1-Gens erzielte. Auch das anionische Tensid, Dodecylsulfat Natriumsalz zeigte eine Zunahme der relativen intl1- Prävalenz, welche bei Cocamidopropyl Betain und Fettalkohol-Ethoxylat verhältnismäßig gering ausfiel. Zur Beurteilung einer möglichen Verschiebung der mikrobiellen Zusammensetzung wurde mittels der HRMA und unter Einsatz von bakteriellen ITS-Primern eine Schmelzkurvenanalyse durchgeführt, welche deutliche Shifts bei Benzalkoniumchlorid zeigte. Zusätzlich wurde die Berechnung der euklidischen Distanz zwischen der Wachstums-Kontrolle und der jeweiligen Biofilmprobe durchgeführt. Ein möglicher Zusammenhang zwischen der normalisierten intl1-Prävalenz der DNA und der euklidischen Distanz führte erneut zu einem nicht signifikanten Ergebnis.&#13;

    <title language="deu">Die Rolle individueller Copingstrategien und Resilienz für die mentale Gesundheit im Kontext der Wahrnehmung der Klimakrise: Eine systematische Untersuchung empirischer Studien</title>
    <abstract language="deu">Hintergrund: Der Klimawandel ist ein globales Problem, welches bereits weltweit spürbar ist und sich zukünftig weiter verschärfen wird. Neben den damit einhergehenden physischen Auswirkungen für die Gesundheit, steigt auch die Relevanz mentaler Belastungen. Nicht nur das Erleben von Naturkatastrophen und extremen Wetterereignissen, sondern auch die Wahrnehmungen der Veränderungen wirkt bedrohlich und kann eine mentale Belastung für Menschen darstellen. Ziel der Masterarbeit war es zu untersuchen, welche Rolle individuelle Copingstrategien und Resilienz für die mentale Gesundheit und das Wohlbefinden im Kontext der Wahrnehmung der Klimakrise haben. Wesentlich war daher die Identifikation potenzieller Schutz- und Risikofaktoren sowie die Untersuchung von Copingstrategien im Kontext des Klimawandels, um gezielte Empfehlungen zur Stärkung der Resilienz und Verbesserung des psychischen Wohlbefindens abzuleiten.&#13;
&#13;
Methoden: Eine systematische Literaturrecherche wurde durchgeführt, um relevante, empirische Studien zu identifizieren. Das methodische Vorgehen orientierte sich an den Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Die Suche erfolgte auf den Datenbanken Web of Science, ScienceDirect, PubPsych, PubMed und PsycArticles. Zur Bewertung der methodischen Qualität und Bewertung des Verzerrungspotenzials der eingeschlossenen Studien, wurden die Critical Appraisal Checklisten des Joanna Briggs Instituts (JBI) verwendet. Die Ergebnisse der Studien wurden anhand zweier Evidenztabellen nach Studiendesign und Studienergebnissen synthetisiert und narrativ beschrieben.&#13;
&#13;
Ergebnisse: Insgesamt erfüllten 19 von 1.676 geprüften Studien die Einschlusskriterien. Die Studien untersuchten unterschiedliche Copingstrategien und -stile, wie Verhaltensweisen des umweltfreundlichen Handelns sowie problem-, emotions- und bedeutungsorientierte Bewältigungsstrategien. Verschiedene Faktoren wurden berücksichtigt, darunter emotionale Reaktionen, psychologische, soziale und kognitive Aspekte sowie soziodemografische Eigenschaften. Zunächst wurde untersucht, wie Copingstrategien in Verbindung mit den einbezogenen Faktoren stehen. Darauf aufbauend wurde analysiert, wie diese Copingstrategien die mentale Gesundheit beeinflussen und ob die Faktoren im Kontext des Klimawandels als Schutz- oder Risikofaktoren wirken. Beispielsweise zeigten leichte Ausprägungen der Angst vor dem Klimawandel sowohl aktivierende Effekte, in Form von umweltfreundlichen Verhaltensweisen, als auch die Neigung zu mentalen Beeinträchtigungen, bei starker Ausprägung. Sorgen zeigten im Studienvergleich gemischte Auswirkungen, indem sie teilweise problemorientiertes Coping begünstigten, teilweise jedoch auch belastend wirkten. Wut zeigte vorwiegend aktivierende Effekte und weniger Beeinträchtigungen für die mentale Gesundheit. Naturverbundenheit, Geschlecht und Alter standen oftmals mit problemorientiertem Coping in Verbindung, jedoch gleichzeitig mit einer erhöhten Anfälligkeit für mentale Beeinträchtigung. Daneben wurden zwei Studien identifiziert, die unterschiedliche Maßnahmen zur Reduktion der mentalen Belastungen durch den Klimawandel evaluierten und bei relevanten Parametern der mentalen Gesundheit positive Ergebnisse erzielten.&#13;
&#13;

    <title language="eng">Selection of Global Standardization Samples for Optical Emission Spectrometry from Practical and Materials Science Perspectives</title>
The focus of this thesis is to address the task of alloy selection for Optical Emission Spectrometry (OES) applications. The main goal is to develop standardised samples for SPECTRO OES devices that can be utilised during routine analysis in automatic processes. The selection criteria include machinability, signal performance, and homogeneity. To achieve these goals, a set of practical tests were carried out. The initial research involves using the existing SPECTRO sample library to identify suitable alloys for standardised production in large batches. In the end, a database is suggested with existing alloys as possible candidates for future production. The chosen alloy must generate signals within specified wavelength ranges and exhibit machinability for post-analysis processing. The thesis introduces a unique approach to assessing machinability using chip analysis, emphasising the role of chip characteristics in understanding the material's suitability for machining. The study found that the E/3 sample, especially among samples with zirconium, demonstrated exceptional machinability. Moreover, the research delves into the importance of power consumption measurements during milling as an informative parameter for machining requirements. The study examines the chemical composition necessary to produce consistent and robust signals across the spectrum, with a particular focus on elements like zirconium, nickel, iron, copper, titanium, and manganese, but also phase diagrams to understand the homogeneity of aluminium alloying elements. Sample 518X905 is highlighted for its role in enhancing emission lines. In conclusion, the thesis proposes an alloy composition that blends aluminium with various alloying elements to meet specific research requirements. Copper, iron, zinc, silicon, nickel, zirconium, chromium, and vanadium provide flexibility for crafting tailored samples. Existing primary alloying elements, including those with copper, zinc, and silicon, can be considered. However, zirconium with a concentration of 0.6% to 1% is pivotal in the proposed alloy recipe.

    <title language="eng">Effects of the Agricultural Minimum Wage Increase on the Special Crop Sector in Germany</title>
    <abstract language="eng">This thesis explores the impact of rising labor costs, driven by minimum wage&#13;
increases, on Germany's specialty crop sector, with a focus on strawberries and asparagus. The thesis investigates how these cost pressures affect farm operations, particularly in light of labor shortages and substantial wage expenses. Combining market data, government statistics, and industry reports, the research highlights significant trends in production, cultivation practices, and market dynamics between 2015 and 2023. Through analysis of data, this work finds a notable reduction in the number of farms and cultivated areas for both strawberries and asparagus, alongside fluctuations in yield and production volumes. The results suggest that while mechanization offers some relief from rising labor costs, its adoption is limited by high initial investment requirements, technical complexity, and the need for crop-specific solutions. This effect is moderated by significant regional differences, and farm size.&#13;
Overall, this study contributes to the understanding of how minimum wage policies affect the German specialty crop sector, providing insights that are crucial for stakeholders aiming to navigate the evolving agricultural landscape.

    <title language="eng">Implementation of the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) with EEG Data for Machine Learning-Based applications in Schizophrenia patients</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Schizophrenia, a complex mental disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, and cognitive impairments, remains challenging to diagnose accurately due to the reliance on subjective clinical evaluations. This study aimed to develop a robust machine learning model for classifying schizophrenia patients using neurophysiological markers derived from Electroencephalography (EEG) data. The work explored multiple machine-learning architectures, including traditional Support Vector Machines (SVM) and deep learning models such as Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and CNN-LSTM hybrids.&#13;
EEG data was collected from schizophrenia patients and healthy controls, with preprocessing conducted using the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) framework to ensure consistency and standardization. Given the varying quality and structure of the EEG recordings—such as missing channels and differing recording lengths—the study employed several preprocessing techniques, including channel interpolation, zero-padding, and limiting data to the first three minutes of resting-state recordings for standardization. Data imbalance was addressed through the application of the Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) to ensure balanced representation of both schizophrenia and control groups during model training.&#13;
The findings showed that the SVM model reached an accuracy of 88.8% in patient classification, whereas the LSTM model, after addressing data imbalances through SMOTE, achieved an improved classification accuracy of 99.3%. However, challenges arose when attempting to predict schizophrenia severity levels using MMN task data and a CNN-LSTM hybrid model. Despite efforts to standardize the number of epochs across subjects, the model achieved a more modest accuracy of 66.7%. This lower accuracy was largely attributed to the limited and unbalanced dataset, as some subjects had fewer than the target number of epochs.&#13;
Further challenges included BIDS conversion issues due to discrepancies in file naming conventions between .sdt and .set files, which required considerable time to resolve. The successful creation of a tailored BIDS conversion script ensured the data could be standardized and used effectively for analysis.&#13;
In conclusion, while the classification models achieved high accuracy, particularly the LSTM-based approach, predicting schizophrenia severity levels remains a challenge due to the limitations of the available dataset. Future research will focus on gathering larger and more balanced datasets, refining preprocessing methods, and optimizing model architectures to improve prediction accuracy. Ultimately, the goal is to apply these models in clinical settings to facilitate early diagnosis and intervention, providing timely medical care to schizophrenia patients before their symptoms worsen.

This bachelor thesis explores the prototypical development of a Geographic Information Sys-tem (GIS) for coordinating police aerial devices in North Rhine-Westphalia during the UEFA Euro 2024. The need for a coordination system stems from the rising utilization of drones and helicopters by law enforcement and the concurrent challenge of coordinating them securely. The primary aim of this project is to create an IT driven system that enhances the coordination of both manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. Through an analysis of requirements and exa-mination of technological and legal frameworks a GIS was crafted to cater to the specific requi-rements of NRW police. The prototype implementation enabled real-time visualization and monitoring of aerial devices, potentially improving security and efficiency at large-scale events. The outcomes and understandings from the trial phase of this system offer insights into the capabilities and constraints of the technology for deployment and future exploration, in this domain.

    <title language="eng">Comparative Analysis of Waste Management Challenges and Strategies: A Case Study of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Beijing.</title>
The paper emphasizes the importance of effective waste management for sustainable development, highlighting the challenges faced by Dhaka, mainly due to inadequate infrastructure, poor public awareness, and insufficient governmental support. The rapid urbanization and population growth in Dhaka exacerbate these issues, leading to severe environmental and public health risks. The study compares the waste management systems of Dhaka and Beijing. A survey was conducted to understand the attitude and awareness of the residents of Dhaka, and secondary data was considered to provide an overview of the existing waste management policies and practices of both Dhaka and Beijing. The findings of the paper outline several recommendations for improving waste management in Dhaka. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, insufficient governmental support and so on. In summary, the research highlights the significance of efficient waste management systems in metropolitan regions, especially in developing nations, and promotes a comprehensive strategy to tackle the difficulties encountered by cities such as Dhaka.
