@masterthesis{Furre, type = {Bachelor Thesis}, author = {Furre, Liban}, title = {Somaliland Livestock Export: Understanding Reasons Behind Recurring Export Embargoes}, school = {Hochschule Rhein-Waal}, abstract = {Somaliland heavily relies economically and socially on livestock export to Arabian countries, mainly Saudi Arabia. The livestock sector has, in recent years, experienced many challenges, including export bans imposed by importing states. This thesis study aims, therefore, to investigate and understand the reasons behind the recurring livestock export bans in Somaliland's livestock sector. It deployed a Literature review as a research approach and found that the main reason for the bans is animal health problems, particularly Rift Valley Fever outbreaks in the Horn of Africa. Absent institutional regulations and frequent droughts add more pressure on the top.}, language = {en} }
