The so-called ticking of the fuel injection system has a rather low sound pressure level compared to the residual engine noise. Nevertheless, the impulsive and high frequency noise character leads to a decline concerning the perception of comfort and sound quality. In order to identify the sound quality of fuel injection systems as a frontloading measure, a system test bench has been developed which represents the structure-borne and airborne sound radiation of the stand-alone injection system in a close to series configuration. In this paper, measures for the acoustic optimization of injection systems and their effects on the robustness of the system are discussed. The focus is on engine idling, since at this operating point the ticking of the injectors and high-pressure pump can be perceived most clearly due to the low masking effects of other noise sources. For this purpose, the injection parameters were measured during full engine operation and transferred to the system test bench. By using a special development control unit, it was possible to modify the parameters, quantify their influence on the acoustic behavior and, based on this, define NVH optimized control strategies. For the robustness evaluation of the NVH optimized control strategies, key functions of the injection system were analyzed under varying boundary conditions in system operation on an injection rate test bench. In the present study, different groups of human vertebral cancellous bone were exposed to cyclic compression. The inital modulus and therefore lifetimes were found to be highly dependent on age. Promising applications, e.g., self-driving cars, require a suitable control system that can maintain the vehicle’s stability in critical scenarios. In most of current cars, the control systems actuates independently, meaning there is not a coordination or data sharing between them. This approach can produce a conflict between these standalone controllers and thus, no improvements on the vehicle’s stability are achieved or even a worse scenario can be generated. In order to overcome these problems, an integrated approach is developed in this work. This integration, defined in this work as Integrated Control (IC), is done by an intelligence coordination of all standalone controllers inside the vehicle, i.e., Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Four-Wheel Steering System (4WS). The ABS model was built using Fuzzy logic, for which only three rules were necessary to get a good performance. To design the ESP and the 4WS, the simple handling vehicle model was used as a reference behavior. The IC was designed using the hierarchical approach with two layers, i.e., the upper and lower layer. The upper one, observes the side slip angle and depends of its value the upper layer triggers the ESP or the 4WS. Finally, in order to prove the improvements of the IC system over the non-integrated approach, a full-size vehicle model was used to perform simulation in run-off-road and μ-split scenarios. T1 - Mechanical Behavior and Residual Stresses in AZ31 Wrought Magnesium Alloy Subjected to Four Point Bending T2 - Magnesium Alloys and Their Applications N2 - Several specimens of AZ31 magnesium alloy were taken in different directions from a rolled plate and subjected to tensile, compressive and four-point bending tests. Tensile and compressive tests allowed to characterize the mechanical properties of the material in the rolling and cross rolling directions. The bending tests were carried out in four different specimen types to take the effect of the anisotropy induced by the rolling procedure itself into account. Six strain gages per specimen allowed to observe the evolution of the strain with the bending moment during the tests. All bending specimens were bent until a total compressive deformation of 2.5 %. It was observed that the corresponding tensile strain was significant lower and slightly different for each specimen type. In addition, a characteristic non-uniform distribution of deformation twinning was observed. The induced residual stresses after bending were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and incremental hole-drilling (IHD). Due to the different mechanical behavior in tension and compression, an asymmetric residual stress distribution after bending could be observed. The neutral axis was, in all cases, shifted towards the tensile side. This observation agrees with the strain measurements during bending tests. Focal point of the investigation are different arrangements of vortex-generator pairs within a generic heat-exchanger channel. The DLR URANS CFD solver THETA has been used to carry out numerical simulations of the laminar flow within a rectangular channel with integrated vortex generators. In particular, the analysis of the interaction of generated vortices with the stratified thermal boundary layer, the impact of vortical flow structures on heated walls and the enforced mixed-convection flow is of special interest. The final goal is the evaluation of the applicability of oppositely arranged vortex-generator pairs for the enhancement of vortex-induced heat-transfer. Validation of these new techniques is conducted by comparing the results obtained with simplified models of the trachea and a first lung bifurcation as well as in a cast model of the upper central airways with results achieved from conventional fluid mechanical measurement techniques like e.g. Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA). Further it is demonstrated that MRI of experimental HFOV is feasible and that Hyperpolarized 3He allows for imaging the gas re-distribution inside the lung. Finally, numerical results of oscillatory flow in a 3rd generation model of the lung as well as the impact of endotracheal tubes on the flow regime development in a trachea model are presented. Die Ermittlung der Gleichgewichtslage stellt dabei eine erste Plausibilitäts-Kontrolle dar. Eine Linearisierung mit anschließender Analyse der Eigendynamik liefert Aussagen über die Frequenzen und das Dämpfungsverhalten des Modells. Einfache Erregersignale ermöglichen einen ersten Einblick in das nichtlineare dynamische Verhalten des Modells. Modell-Parameter, die nicht genau bekannt sind, können durch gezielte Variationen plausibel geschätzt oder über eine Optimierung sogar mit optimalen Werten belegt werden. Nach all diesen Tests steht das Mehrkörper- Simulationsmodell dann für praktischeUntersuchungen zurVerfügung, die neben reinen Zeitsimulationen auch Methoden der Inversen Kinematik und der Inversen Dynamik mit einschließen.
