    <title language="eng">Prehospital stroke education in paramedics</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Background  and  aims:  &#13;
Rapid pre-hospital identification of  stroke  symptoms  result  in  therapy  directed  admission  to dedicated stroke units. Widespread application of stroke scales reveal high sensitivity but low specificity, especially in non-academic first aid personal. In our previous work we show that prehospital stroke diagnostics based on neurolo-gical examination and transcranial color-coded Duplex so-nography (TCCS) is feasible and results in high sensitivity and specificity for middle cerebral artery / distal internal carotid artery occlusion. The aim of our ongoing study is to design and evaluate a dedicated stroke educational program for paramedics including transcranial ultrasound. This is a prerequisite  for  a  telemedical  decision  support  system  in  the absence of stroke experienced emergency doctors.&#13;
&#13;
Methods: &#13;
We currently educate 6 paramedics in advanced stroke neurology and also transcranial ultrasound examina-tion during a course of 2 months. The web-based curricu-lum was designed in two parts. The first was theoretical and the second will be the real-life training under neurological supervision. For final assessment of the theoretical know-ledge a control group will be implemented without specific stroke expertise. The stroke-educated paramedics will have to  assist  stroke  investigation,  perform  pre-hospital  TCCS  and enter the date in a mobile telestroke pad. The data set will be send to an in-hospital stroke physician. We will as-sess the mean time to reach the diagnostic assessment, its sensitivity and specificity and the patient outcome after 30 days.   &#13;
&#13;
Results: &#13;
Our study is ongoing&#13;
&#13;
Conclusion: &#13;
The study just reach the 2 part and we will be glad to present our data on the meeting EAN 2015. &#13;

    <title language="eng">Error detection sensitivity of a commercially available system for 3D plan verifications</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Purpose&#13;
The complexity of the treatment techniques IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) and VMAT (Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy) introduced the requirement of an individual plan verification. The latest development is 3D verification which allows evaluation in terms of 3D gamma values but also a judgment based on differences in dose distributions on individual patient CT data and in dose volume histograms. For a verification tool the error detection sensitivity is important. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the accuracy and the sensitivity of the gamma evaluation of the 3D verification software MobiusFx when a systematic error in one parameter is applied. The results are compared to an established 2D-measurement based method.&#13;
Methods&#13;
11 IMRT and 11 VMAT plans were selected as reference plans. For every reference plan a systematic offset of 1 mm, 2 mm and 3 mm in the same direction was applied to the Multi-Leaf-Collimator (MLC) positions. All plans were irradiated and verified simultaneously with MobiusFx and MatriXX Evolution 2D array measurement. For both verification systems the applied dose distributions were evaluated using the gamma method based on the reference plans. In MobiusFx additionally the MLC position errors were evaluated.&#13;
Results&#13;
Regarding the gamma evaluation results, MobiusFx and MatriXX Evolution 2D measurements have almost the same sensitivity: The gamma evaluation of both systems detected shifts of 1 mm in VMAT plans and shifts of 2 mm and larger in IMRT plans. The information of the MLC position error provided by MobiusFx allows further to detect errors down to a shift of 1 mm in IMRT plans, giving an advantage over the MatriXX measurement.&#13;
Conclusions&#13;
MobiusFx shows a high error detection sensitivity, comparable to MatriXX Evolution. Through the gamma calculation and the MLC position error it is possible to detect errors down to a shift in MLC positions of 1 mm. It is recommended to inspect all the above parameters during plan verification.

    <title language="eng">Embedded Linux Quality Assurance: How to Not Lie with Statistics</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Embedded Linux drives an every-increasing number of appliances in many domains and applications, some even real-time and/or safety critical. Traditional quality assurance of such systems is based on testing and formal verification, but the huge amount of code and the rapid dynamics of the Linux ecosystem, as well as fundamental limitations of formal methods make these approaches unsatisfactory.&#13;
&#13;
Statistical quality assurance for reliability, error rates, maximal latencies etc. is needed. We will discuss current best practises, how to design and run automated statistical tests that capture relevant information, and how to properly evaluate the resulting data. Practical real-world examples and recipes are played through using the open source R language. Most importantly, we identify common mistakes in (over-)interpreting statistical results and predictions that may eventually harm people.

    <title language="eng">Building Mixed Criticality Linux Systems with the Jailhouse Hypervisor</title>
The partitioning hypervisor Jaihouse allows us to run safety critical and uncritical applications in parallel on a single SoC. We present our experiences when porting a safety and real-time critical existing application as a Jailhouse guest. It shows a novel and promising approach for implementing mixed-criticality applications with real-time requirement while not loosing the benefits of Linux. This is done by static partitioning of hardware resources; guests do not interfere. We will present a multicopter platform running the real-time critical flight stack in an isolated Jailhouse guest. This proves the practicability of Jailhouse as well as the suitability for real-time safety critical systems by porting an existing application to a Jailhouse cell. We stress its concept and show up current hardware limitations, like undesired behaviour and present possible workarounds and solutions.

We present two methods that combine image reconstruction and edge detection in computed tomography (CT) scans. Our first method is as an extension of the prominent filtered backprojection algorithm. In our second method we employ ℓ1-regularization for stable calculation of the gradient. As opposed to the first method, we show that this approach is able to compensate for undersampled CT data.

    <title language="eng">Applied Learning through Industry Collaboration</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Purpose&#13;
In 1969, Germany founded a new type of tertiary education institution, the so-called “Universities of Applied Sciences” (UAS). In contrast to traditional universities, UAS are supposed to educate their students based on scientific methods but with a high degree of application orientation (Wissenschaftsrat, 2010). The goal was to generate highly employable graduates. Since then the number of UAS in Germany has risen to 216 in 2018/2019 (Statistisches Bundesamt, 2019). ~45% of all German students start their tertiary education at a UAS (Autorengruppe Bildungsberichterstattung, 2018). UAS graduates are well perceived by domestic employers, enjoy high recruiting rates and attractive salary levels.&#13;
The educational model has proven so successful that its approach and underlying philosophy has been replicated under terms such as “cooperative education” or “applied learning” in a vast number of different countries and educational systems around the globe (Altbach, Reisberg, &amp; Rumbley, 2011).&#13;
This talk critically describes the key aspects that constitute German UAS’ approaches to industry-oriented applied learning. The findings are relevant for academics, policy makers, and industry representatives to generate ideas on how to improve study curricula, policies, or collaboration between academia and industry.&#13;
Method&#13;
The approach taken consists of a descriptive and structured account of the key aspects that constitute the study curricula of a UAS from an applied learning perspective. By building on their own experiences as teaching professors and part of a German UAS’ managerial team, the research method taken resembles an action research-oriented approach.&#13;
Key Findings&#13;
German UAS have numerous application-oriented learning elements in their curricula. These elements are performed inside the university like lab courses but many of these learning elements are carried out in cooperation with industry.&#13;
Bachelor programs span over seven semesters. Fundamentals are taught in the first two semesters and from the third semester on, more and more application-oriented lectures and labs become part of the curricula. In the fifth semester, a mandatory internship is integrated in the study program. This internship is carried out either at companies in Germany or abroad. It is the goal of the internship that the students gain first practical experience in a real work environment. The work tasks in internship should be similar to the later professional demands and should contain a project. The students themselves are responsible for finding an appropriate job and organize the administrative aspects around the internship, thus their self-organization skills are advanced. The UAS teaching staff supervises the internships from an academic perspective. This mandatory internship has numerous advantages: students experience real industry environment and they build contacts to later employers thus forming a potential pathway to future employment.&#13;
Bachelor and master courses each finish with thesis work. The majority of theses is carried out in companies under university supervision. This is a second chance for the students to accomplish a company project, to gain practical experience and to get in touch with potential employers.&#13;
In addition to undergraduate and postgraduate education, German UAS do a lot of applied research together with companies. This applied research can also be the basis for the work of Ph.D students.&#13;
Industry representatives are also involved when designing new study programs as consultants and give advice for accreditation and reaccreditation of programs.&#13;
All these activities of German universities of applied sciences lead to a high practical relevance of education programs and to a high degree of employability of UAS graduates.

    <title language="eng">A simulation analysis of Independent Requirements Consumption in Master Production Scheduling</title>
This poster presents purpose and function of the Independent Requirements Consumption in Master Production Scheduling and gives recommendations for its application. The approach of hierarchical production planning and its planning problems are explained. The problem of new customer requirements information between planning periods and solving options are shown. The solving option of Independent Requirements Consumption is focus of this poster. The algorithm of the Independent Requirements Consumption that is implemented in commercial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like the SAP system is analyzed. The methods for analyzing the effects of the Independent Requirements Consumption are outlined. The scenarios for simulation studies are stated and compared to similar investigations. The simulation studies were performed on a simulation system at IPF that contains both a production planning and control system and a production. The extent of simulation analyses outreaches similar investigations, especially because of the variety of scenarios. For scenarios in which capacity is available to a sufficient extent, advice for setting the Independent Requirements Consumption parameters is given. It is pointed out that with production constrained scenarios, the necessity to level out production leads to problems. An algorithm to determine necessary inventory levels is presented. It is stated that straight advice for Independent Requirements Consumption parameter settings might not be possible with production constrained scenarios. Further analyses with production constrained scenarios as well as investigations concerning safety stocks in combination with Independent Requirements Consumption are current and future research topics at the Innovation Center for Production Logistics and Factory Planning.
