The reason to present this idea are several personal experiences in daily teaching. If students experience some uncertainty in their study program, it is seen that they have higher challenges and therefore higher learning success in managing uncertain situations. In these ways, students acquire methodical and social competences to deal with uncertainty and achieve productive results in an unstable working environment. If, however, the chaos is too large, students are over-strained with the situation, distracted from the actual learning targets and consequently learning results will be worse, drop-out rates will increase and they will be frustrated. The beneficial level of uncertainty depends on the student culture, academic progress and personality characteristics. The competence to deal with complex situations is essential for later professional life where unexpected circumstances occur regularly. Introducing planned chaos into lectures and lab courses has not to be confused with a missing didactic concept and is no justification for a bad preparation. Planned chaos is a demanding concept for professors to find the right implementation for an optimized learning outcome. Ein wesentliches Merkmal des Konzeptes ist die konsequente und durchgehende Anwendung der Idee des constructive alignment auch f{\"u}r die Konzipierung einer kompetenzorientierten Pr{\"u}fung. Ausgangspunkt der Entwicklung des neuen Konzepts war die Definition von Lernzielen f{\"u}r das gesamte Modul, die dann f{\"u}r jede einzelne Lehrveranstaltung detailliert wurden. Im Ergebnis gibt es einen genauen Plan f{\"u}r die Abfolge der einzelnen Lehrveranstaltungen zur Theorievermittlung, der {\"U}bungen und der Praktika sowie der jeweils zu erreichenden Lernziele. Basierend auf der Definition von Lernzielen wurde ein Drittel der Lehrveranstaltungen zur Theorievermittlung mit einem Blended learning Ansatz konzipiert. F{\"u}r diesen m{\"u}ssen die Studierenden vor der eigentlichen Lehrveranstaltung einen spezifischen Lehrtext lesen und Fragen dazu beantworten. Sie haben außerdem die M{\"o}glichkeit, selbst Fragen an die Dozentin zu stellen. Basierend auf diesem R{\"u}cklauf kann die Dozentin den Inhalt der Pr{\"a}senzphase auf die jeweilige Studierendengruppe anpassen und dadurch spezifisch auf die Anforderungen dieser Gruppe reagieren. Durch diese Just-in-Time Teaching (JiTT) Methode oder auch inverted classroom Methode wird auch den unterschiedlichen Vorkenntnissen der Studierenden Rechnung getragen. Die {\"u}brigen Lehrveranstaltungen zur Theorievermittlung werden als klassische Lehrveranstaltungen durchgef{\"u}hrt. Auch in diesen werden aktivierende Lehrmethoden wie die Peer Instruction oder Clicker Befragungen eingesetzt. Peer Instruction stellt nach eine ideale Erg{\"a}nzung zu JiTT dar. Die {\"U}bungseinheiten und Praktika dienen dem weiteren Kompetenzerwerb im Sinne der komplexeren Lernziele. Insbesondere die Praktika fokussieren jeweils auf einen spezifischen Effekt, der gezielt gefestigt werden soll. Nevertheless, we find a great variation between German regions for both, diagnostic coronary angiographies and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI). We assume that this variation is not only due to variation in morbidity but also reflects factors such as guideline adherence, physician-patient communication and access to care. In this mixed method project, we aim to first describe the variation of coronary angiographies and PCIs in different German regions. Secondly, we explore current practices and motives for (non-)adherences to guidelines in the diagnostic process of patients with suspected CHD. Based on these results, we consequently plan to develop a complex intervention (treatment pathway) to improve guideline adherence and thus appropriateness of coronary angiography. Method The projects will be organized according to the recommendation of the Medical Research Council for the development and evaluation of complex interventions. The first study will use descriptive methods based on routine data of three German Health Care Insurances and registry data to describe status quo and associated factors of coronary angiography. The second study will use qualitative methods to understand barriers and facilitators of guideline adherence and medical decision making. Furthermore, we will discuss variations in care and thereby identify implementation targets for the planned treatment pathway. Based on this information, we will develop local treatment pathways in four selected regions. Relevant peers will develop the local pathway in group discussions. Common goal of most professors is to help students acquiring knowledge and competencies that are relevant for their further life. From the beginning of Universities' history, lectures are usually chosen to reach this goal but it is seen in recent years that they are in many cases not the optimal choice. In the last years, many efforts were made to increase students knowledge gain. From learning and motivation psychology research, many details are known how humans remember and transfer knowledge. These research results are used to create new lecture formats to activate students. Research based learning, project based lab courses, problem based learning, feedback systems, flipped classroom, blended learning and gamification in lectures are only some examples for new formats. Common goal of all these new types of learning formats is to increasing students' motivation and to enhance learning success. In this paper, evaluations using a questionnaire with open questions were done among first year students, bachelor students before graduation and alumni, about their sources of motivation and demotivation. Interesting curricula and lectures with application related topics and possibilities for own work are the main sources of motivation. Enthusiastic professors with high competences and good lecture didactics also contribute to students' motivation. On the other side, demotivated professors with boring lectures play a much higher role for demotivating students. For this reason, research activities in this area have increased recently, especially funded by state institutions such as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Relevant publications and studies contain a large number of proposals for key figures and indicators. These are intended to provide as comprehensive a picture of the transfer process as possible. The point of view of the transfer provider, i.e. the university, is often in the foreground. Until the present moment, transfer recipients such as economy and society have received less attention. The analysis of these sub-systems was part of the cross-university research project 'Transfer_i: Transfer Indicators'. In this paper we describe an effective approach for mapping, measuring, and managing of transfer pro-cesses by using key performance indicators (KPI). Therefore, a systematic analysis and description of the (research-based) transfer processes at the subsystem level were carried out. The main causal rela-tionships in knowledge and technology transfer were determined for each sub-system, e.g. state, re-search, economy, society. However, it remains unclear what are the best ways to foster trusts between actors in a conflict environment. This study draws insights from the literature on trust and from Kahneman's Prospect Theory to analyse the decision-making dynamics of the actors involved in a conflict and how these dynamics could affect the trust levels between those actors. To this purpose, the fourfold pattern of preferences I applied to a thought experiments where opposing actors in a conflict in the Sahel face the decision to accept or refuse a peace agreement when either one of the two actors face huge gains or catastrophic losses. The main findings is that, in those extreme situations, the actors involved tend to take unnational decisions that undermine the trust building process in the country. Therefore, it would be recommendable to boost situations where actors are negotiating in a more balanced environment. Another advantage is the adaptability to the individual needs of the patient through a suitable design of the structure and the careful selection of the characteristics of the elements. Using geometric nonlinear analysis, the mechanical behavior of the structure was investigated, focusing on mechanical compliance. The main objective was to determine the influence of the initial length and stiffness of the tensioned members and the influence of the magnitude of external forces on the overall stiffness of the movable member of the structure. Students learn to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges as it is the case in their later professional life. If students are not used to project work or the scientific topic is new and relatively complex, they may be overwhelmed. The consequence is that students achieve poor results, are frustrated, and therefore learning success is low. Semi-structured projects are introduced that combine the advantages of structured experiments with projects. The project work is structured into several parts with detailed descriptions of the tasks. In the end, students get similar results to doing a free project, but the success rate is higher due to higher guidance. Therefore, these semi-structured projects are seen to be an appropriate method to guide students to learn how to do project work. The feedback from most students is very positive. Although raw EEG data can provide insightful information, accurate fatigue identification requires strong feature extraction techniques because of the inherent complexity of the data. This emphasizes how urgent it is to investigate revolutionary deep-learning architectures that can successfully extract discriminative features from raw EEG data. This study provides an innovative framework for driver fatigue identification from EEG that combines continuous wavelet transform (CWT) with convolutional neural networks (CNN) and long-short term memory (LSTM). In order to gain the advantage over the drawbacks of manual feature extraction, this study generates time-frequency spectrum representations of EEG data using the CWT. Following extracting information, each channel's time-frequency images are concatenated and fed into a CNN-LSTM architecture. This combination models the temporal and spatial characteristics of the EEG data and automatically learns discriminative features for identifying drivers' normal and fatigued states. A publicly available EEG dataset with recordings from twelve subjects is used to evaluate the proposed CWT-CNN-LSTM architecture. The result shows a prominent classification accuracy of 98.34\% for both the average of each subject and combined subjects. This global trend, together with existing and upcoming regulations (ISO 270xx, ISO 21434, UNECE WP.29, UNECE R155), and the lack of qualified professionals create a tension field for the entire automotive industry. Hence, new education concepts for engineers of safety-critical and connected systems are necessary to secure our daily and future systems against cyber-attacks and raise awareness and knowledge of the topic of IT-Security. Existing automotive security education systems have one common problem: All systems are hardware-based and therefore have very steep learning curves for beginners. Hardware-based systems, in general, are expensive in their initial costs, require regular maintenance, and add diverse operational difficulties independent of the aspired education goal. Additionally, the global pandemic increased the necessity of virtual education concepts for security training in cyber-physical systems. Therefore, we present a novel concept for the education of cyber-security professionals for automotive systems based on discovery and problem-based learning in a virtual learning environment (VLE). Our concept contains individual exercises focusing on the topics of vulnerabilities and attacks in automotive networks and systems. Each exercise relates those topics to the corresponding security goals and countermeasures for mitigation. The learners work collaboratively in a self-contained manner within the VLE to acquire the necessary information to answer questions or find a solution to the given problem. To consider the heterogeneous background (e.g. knowledge, experience, preconceptions) of the learners, the topics can be presented in different difficulties, enabling an adaptable learning environment and different learning trajectories within the exercises. The concept is based on a VLE, consisting of automotive networks and components, which simulate the behavior of a vehicle. This environment provides a hands-on, "real-life" scenario, which allows discovery and problem-based learning in a realistic, but cheap and scalable education environment. Furthermore, virtualization removes common difficulties, always present in training on real hardware. This aims to decrease complexity, prevent learning obstacles related to hardware handling, and enables a location-independent learning environment. The target group of our education concept is Bachelor and Master students of computer science, engineering (e.g. electrical engineering, mechatronics), or similar studies, and (experienced) engineers from the industry. Aus CT-Patientendaten wurden zwei dreidimensionale Modelle des Clavicula-Implantat Verbundes gebildet, die sich in der Frakturform unterscheiden (Querfraktur und vertikale Fraktur). In beiden Modellen wurde eine Claviculaosteosynthese in superiorer Position mit einer 6 Loch LCP mit 2 Schrauben pro Hauptfragment verwendet. Die Materialeigenschaften wurden aus der Dichte des Materials sowie aus Literaturdaten verwendet. Die Muskel- und Gelenkkr{\"a}fte aus der muskuloskelletalen Berechnung wurden auf das Finite Elemente Modell {\"u}bertragen und die Spannungen und Dehnungen des Implantat-Knochenverbundes wurden berechnet. Ergebnisse Es zeigte sich, dass die simulierte in vivo Belastung stark abh{\"a}ngig vom Flexionswinkel ist. Das Implantat ist in der superioren Lage auf Biegung belastet, welche maximale Werte im {\"U}berschulterniveau erreicht. Die Bruchform mit anatomischer Reposition und Kontakt der Hauptfragmente zueinander f{\"u}hrt zu einer deutlichen Entlastung des Osteosyntheseverbundes im Vergleich zu einer Bruchform mit vertikaler Fraktur. Schlussfolgerung Aus den Analysen ist eine Positionierung der Plattenosteosynthese f{\"u}r die im mittleren Drittel frakturierte Clavicula in anterior-superiorer Lage w{\"u}nschenswert. Die anatomische Reposition entlastet den Osteosyntheseverbund und sollte m{\"o}glichst erreicht werden. Objectives: Exploring steps after 28 days of measurement. Finding similarities in the data by running cluster analysis and formulating linear regressions models to predict steps through time. Methods: Two types of motion trackers (FitBitAlta HR and Garmin v{\´i}vofit 3) have been used to measure patients' (N=24) steps after hip fracture in two study groups. Cluster analysis detected three clusters for progress in number of steps that were tested for group differences with ANOVA. Regression analysis tested models for individual patients. Results: Three-cluster solutions showed significant differences for the average amount of steps after 5, 14, 21 and 28 days. Regression models could predict 71 \% of the individual patients' progress in study group 2. Method - Direct slice-to-slice correspondence even in irregularly-spaced cutting sequences is achieved by registration-based interpolation of the MRI. Introducing a weighted multi-image mutual information metric (WI), adjacent histology and corresponding MRI are taken into account at the same time. Therefore, the reconstruction of the histological volume as well as the fusion with the MRI is done in a single step. Results - Based on two data sets with more than 110 single registrations in all, the results are evaluated quantitatively based on Tanimoto overlap measures and qualitatively showing the fused volumes. In comparison to other multi-image metrics, the reconstruction based on WI is significantly improved. In this work, we propose the characterisation of the border area with intensity pairs for inside and outside estimating joint intensity probabilities. Method - In contrast to global object and background models, we focus on the object border characterised by a joint mixture density. This specifies the probability of the occurance of an inside and an outside value in direct adjacency. These values are not known beforehand, because inside and outside depend on the level-set evolution and change during time. Therefore, the speed function is computed time-dependently at the position of the current zero level-set. Along this zero level-set curve, the inside and outside values are derived as mean along the curvature normal directing inside and outside the object. Advantage of the joint probability distribution is to resolve the distribution overlaps, because these are assumed to be not located at the same border position. Results - The novel time-dependent joint probability based speed function is compared expermimentally with single probability based speed functions. Two rat brains with about 40 slices are segmented and the results analysed using manual segmentations and the Tanimoto overlap measure. Dieser Beitrag stellt einen Farbkonstanz-Algorithmus vor, der unabh{\"a}ngig von der Lichtquelle quantitative Farbwerte des Gewebes liefert und die Glanzlichtdetektion und -elimination erm{\"o}glicht. 2 Methodik Ziel des Farbkonstanz-Algorithmus ist die Trennung von Lichtquellen-und Gewebefarbe. Unter Verwendung des dichromatischen Reflexionsmodells [1] kann die Oberfl{\"a}chenreflexion mit der Farbe der Lichtquelle und die K{\"o}rperreflexion mit der Gewebefarbe identifiziert werden. In traditional methods, physicians usually use their experience to interpret CXR images, however, there is a large interobserver variance. Computer vision may be used as a standard for assisted diagnosis. In this study, we applied an encoder-decoder neural network architecture for automatic lung region detection. We compared a three-class approach (left lung, right lung, background) and a two-class approach (lung, background). The differentiation of left and right lungs as direct result of a semantic segmentation on basis of neural nets rather than post-processing a lung-background segmentation is done here for the first time. Our evaluation was done on the NIH Chest X-ray dataset, from which 1736 images were extracted and manually annotated. We achieved 94:9\% mIoU and 92\% mIoU as segmentation quality measures for the two-class-model and the three-class-model, respectively. We validated three approaches of classification based on patches, patients and images in two datasets (MICCAI 2015 and Augsburg) using the color-and-texture descriptors and the machine learning techniques. Concerning MICCAI 2015 dataset, the best results were obtained using the blue channel for the descriptors and the supervised OPF for classification purposes in the patch-based approach, with sensitivity nearly to 73\% for positive adenocarcinoma identification and specificity close to 77\% for BE (non-cancerous) patch classification. Regarding the Augsburg dataset, the most accurate results were also obtained using both OPF classifier and blue channel descriptor for the feature extraction, with sensitivity close to 67\% and specificity around to76\%. The introduction of generative adversarial networks (GANs) provides a mean to generate artificial images by training two convolutional networks. This paper proposes a method which uses GANs trained on medical images in order to generate a large number of artificial images that could be used to train other artificial intelligence algorithms. This work is a first step towards alleviating data privacy concerns and being able to publicly share data that still contains a substantial amount of the information in the original private data. Sub-optimal biopsy material, methodical, and intrinsic electron microscopy factors pose difficulty in ciliary defects evaluation. We present a computer-assisted approach based on state-of-the-art image analysis and object recognition methods yielding a time-saving and efficient diagnosis of cilia dysfunction. Method - The presented approach is based on a pipeline of basal image processing methods like smoothing, thresholding and ellipse fitting. However, integration of application specific knowledge results in robust segmentations even in cases of image artifacts. The method is build hierarchically starting with the detection of cilia within the image, followed by the detection of nine doublets within each analyzable cilium, and ending with the detection of dynein arms of each doublet. The process is concluded by a rough classification of the dynein arms as basis for a computer-assisted diagnosis. Additionally, the interaction possibilities are designed in a way, that the results are still reproducible given the completion report. Results - A qualitative evaluation showed reasonable detection results for cilia, doublets and dynein arms. However, since a ground truth is missing, the variation of the computer-assisted diagnosis should be within the subjective bias of human diagnosticians. The results of a first quantitative evaluation with five human experts and six images with 12 analyzable cilia showed, that with default parameterization 91.6\% of the cilia and 98\% of the doublets were found. The computer-assisted approach rated 66\% of those inner and outer dynein arms correct, where all human experts agree. Exemplarily, the free software FSL-FAST (FMRIB's Segmentation Library - FMRIB's Automated Segmentation Tool) in version 4 is used for segmentation of brain tissue types. To speed up the segmentation procedure by parallel execution, we transferred FSL-FAST to a General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit (GPGPU) using Open Computing Language (OpenCL) [1]. The necessary steps for parallelization resulted in substantially different and less useful results. Therefore, the underlying methods were revised and adapted yielding computational overhead. The chosen Bullet-Physics-Engine provides a stable simulation of rigid bodies, if the collision model of the drill and the tool holder is generated as a compound shape. Three haptic points are added to the K-wire tip for removing single voxels from the bone. Computer assisted diagnosis of endoscopic images (CAD) could therefore be most helpful in the demarcation and classification of neoplastic lesions. In this study we tested the feasibility of a CAD method based on Speeded up Robust Feature Detection (SURF). A given database containing 100 images from 39 patients served as benchmark for feature based classification models. Half of the images had previously been diagnosed by five clinical experts as being "cancerous", the other half as "non-cancerous". Cancerous image regions had been visibly delineated (masked) by the clinicians. SURF features acquired from full images as well as from masked areas were utilized for the supervised training and testing of an SVM classifier. The predictive accuracy of the developed CAD system is illustrated by sensitivity and specificity values. High-definition endoscopic images (50 cancer, 50 Barrett) are partitioned into a dataset containing approximately equal amounts of patches showing cancerous and non-cancerous regions. A deep convolutional neural network is adapted to the data using a transfer learning approach. The final classification of an image is determined by at least one patch, for which the probability being a cancer patch exceeds a given threshold. The model was evaluated with leave one patient out cross-validation. With sensitivity and specificity of 0.94 and 0.88, respectively, our findings improve recently published results on the same image data base considerably. Texture, however, is a resolution-dependent phenomenon and hence, classification depends on the chosen scale. Since there is no optimal scale for all textures we employ a multiscale approach that acquires textural features at several scales. Thus linear and nonlinear scale-spaces are analyzed by multiscale co-occurrence matrices that describe the statistical behavior of a texture in scale-space. Classification is then performed on the basis of texture features taken from the individual scale with the highest discriminatory power. By considering cross-scale occurrences of gray level pairs, the impact of filters on the feature is described and used for classification of natural textures.
