The study aims to identify the risk factors for ulcerative colitis-colorectal cancer and to perform a survival curve analysis of the outcome. This retrospective cohort study included 254 patients from March 2016 to October 2017. Age, age at diagnosis, follow-up time, smoking status, and family history of colorectal cancer were analyzed as risk factors for colorectal cancer. The mean patient age was 46.6 +/- 16.9 years; 5.5\% of the patients were smokers and 49.6\% had pancolitis. Six patients (2.36\%) had colorectal cancer, which was associated with age at diagnosis (odds/hazard ratio 1.059 [95\% confidence interval: 1.001-1.121];P = .04), family history of colorectal cancer (12.992 [1.611-104.7];P = .02), and follow-up time (0.665 [0.513-0.864];P = .002). First, it attempts to develop testable, theoretical sounded hypotheses explaining ethics of entrepreneurs. Therefore it builds upon studies exploring potential drivers for ethical attitudes and behavior. Second, these hypotheses are tested with a large and representative cross national data set, i.e. data from the European Social Survey (ESS). Third, our study is two-level comparative: The sample includes entrepreneurs, managers of sme's and large incorporations, and a representative number of populations excluding the two groups mentioned before. By this, we can compare ethics in attitudes and behavior between those three groups of profession as well as we can test for differences in ethical attitudes and behavior across 20 European countries. We discover that, at the end of 2009, a total of roughly two-thirds of Germany's cumulated net issuance of euro banknotes was in circulation outside Germany. The lion's share of roughly €160 billion was in non-euro-area countries, with the remaining €80 billion in other euro-area countries. Graves. The purpose of the instrument is to help people identify their personal hierarchies of value systems and thus become more aware of what motivates and demotivates them in work-related contexts. The MVSQ is a forced-choice (FC) measure, making it quicker to complete and more difficult to intentionally distort, but also more difficult to assess its psychometric properties due to ipsativity of FC data compared to rating scales. To overcome limitations of ipsative data, a Thurstonian IRT (TIRT) model was fitted to the questionnaire data, based on a broad sample of N = 1,217 professionals and students. Comparison of normative (IRT) scale scores and ipsative scores suggested that MVSQ IRT scores are largely freed from restrictions due to ipsativity and thus allow interindividual comparison of scale scores. Empirical reliability was estimated using a sample-based simulation approach which showed acceptable and good estimates and, on average, slightly higher test-retest reliabilities. Further, validation studies provided evidence on both construct validity and criterion-related validity. Scale score correlations and associations of scores with both age and gender were largely in line with theoretically - and empirically-based expectations, and results of a multitrait-multimethod analysis supports convergent and discriminant construct validity. Criterion validity was assessed by examining the relation of value system preferences to departmental affiliation which revealed significant relations in line with prior hypothesizing. In order to un-cover the weaknesses of knowledge and technology transfer, an effective measurement and indicator system is required. For this reason, research activities in this area have increased recently, especially funded by state institutions such as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Relevant publications and studies contain a large number of proposals for key figures and indicators. These are intended to provide as comprehensive a picture of the transfer process as possible. The point of view of the transfer provider, i.e. the university, is often in the foreground. Until the present moment, transfer recipients such as economy and society have received less attention. The analysis of these sub-systems was part of the cross-university research project 'Transfer_i: Transfer Indicators'. In this paper we describe an effective approach for mapping, measuring, and managing of transfer pro-cesses by using key performance indicators (KPI). Therefore, a systematic analysis and description of the (research-based) transfer processes at the subsystem level were carried out. Starting with conceptual remarks on the importance of money for the economy in general, special attention is paid to the unique characteristics of cash. As these become apparent especially during crisis periods, a comparison of the Great Depression (1929 - 1933) and the Great Recession 2008/09 shows the devastating effects of a severe monetary contraction and how a fully elastic provision of cash can help to avoid such a situation. We find interesting similarities to both crises in two separate case studies, one on the demonetization in India 2016 and the other on cash supply during various crises in Greece since 2008. The paper concludes that supply-driven cash withdrawals from circulation (either by demonetization or by capital controls) destabilize the economy if electronic payment substitutes are not instantly available. However, as there is no perfect substitute for cash due to its unique properties, from the viewpoint of the society as a whole an efficient payment mix necessarily includes cash: It helps to stabilize the economy not only in times of crises in general, no matter which government is in place. The nature of the crisis does, however, determine whether small or large banknote denominations are affected more. This study finds that times of payment uncertainties are associated with increased demand for small denominations, probably reflecting an elevated demand for transaction balances. By contrast, in times of financial crisis or general economic uncertainty, the increased demand for cash is largely the result of consumers taking precautionary actions and building up non-transaction balances; for this reason, there is greater demand for large banknote denominations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, pediatricians faced a variety of challenges regarding information uptake and transfer to patients, practice organization and consultations for families. This qualitative study aimed at shedding light on German pediatricians' experiences of providing outpatient care during the first year of the pandemic. Methods: We conducted 19 semi-structured, in-depth interviews with pediatricians in Germany from July 2020 to February 2021. All interviews were audio recorded, transcribed, pseudonymized, coded, and subjected to content analysis. Results: Pediatricians felt able to keep up to date regarding COVID-19 regulations. However, staying informed was time consuming and onerous. Informing the patients was perceived as strenuous, especially when political decisions had not been officially communicated to pediatricians or if the recommendations were not supported by the professional judgment of the interviewees. Some felt that they were not taken seriously or adequately involved in political decisions. Parents were reported to consider pediatric practices as sources of information also for non-medical inquiries. Answering these questions was time consuming for the practice personnel and involved non-billable hours. Practices had to adapt their set-up and organization immediately to the new circumstances of the pandemic, which proved costly and laborious as well. Some changes in the organization of routine care, such as the separation of appointments for patients with acute infection from preventive appointments, were perceived as positive and effective by some study participants. Telephone and online consultations were established at the beginning of the pandemic and considered helpful for some situations, whereas for others these methods were deemed insufficient (e.g. for examinations of sick children). All pediatricians reported reduced utilization mainly due to a decline in acute infections. However, preventive medical check-ups and immunization appointments were reported to be mostly attended. Our findings highlight the adaptability and varied applications of expert interviews in IS research and offer recommendations to strengthen rigor in their preparation, execution, and presentation of outcomes. Theoretical and practical implications are provided to guide a more systematic and rigorous use of expert interviews in IS research.}, language = {en} } @book{BoerschSupanHunklerWeiss, author = {B{\"o}rsch-Supan, Axel and Hunkler, Christian and Weiss, Matthias}, title = {Big Data at Work}, address = {Regensburg}, organization = {Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg / Fakult{\"a}t Betriebswirtschaft}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:bvb:898-opus4-21637}, publisher = {Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg}, pages = {59}, abstract = {Does productivity decline with age? Thus, an already considerable number of studies have been developed in recent years presenting approaches to transfer models or proposing a range of indicators to measure transfer performance from a universities' perspective. The research project Transfer_i (transfer indicators) aims to present a transfer model approach, which reflects the complexity of knowledge and technology transfer processes in order to overcome the limited perspectives of existing models. The empirical study in progress presented in this paper shows first findings, which validate the developed approach. In contrast to nearly all other studies presenting only a universities' viewpoint, this study shows the perspective of the other actors within the transfer practice, thereby providing useful insights for universities and research institutions on how to value their third mission activities.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{GuentherFalterBruckschetal., author = {G{\"u}nther, Swen and Falter, Thomas and Brucksch, Michael and Beckmann, Wilhelm and Lang, Gabriele and Findeisen, Vivien and Bormann, Paula-Marie}, title = {Relevance of transfer processes and indicators in practice - Results of a cross-subsystem expert survey in Germany}, series = {Academic and Practitioner Proceedings of the 2023 UIIN Conference Series, Challenges and Solutions for Fostering Entrepreneurial University-Industry Engagement, Entrepreneurial \& Innovative Universities and Collaborative Innovation, Budapest}, booktitle = {Academic and Practitioner Proceedings of the 2023 UIIN Conference Series, Challenges and Solutions for Fostering Entrepreneurial University-Industry Engagement, Entrepreneurial \& Innovative Universities and Collaborative Innovation, Budapest}, publisher = {University Industry Innovation Network B.V.}, address = {Amsterdam}, isbn = {9789-491-901-614}, pages = {17}, language = {en} } @article{BoerschSupanDuezguenWeiss, author = {B{\"o}rsch-Supan, Axel and D{\"u}zg{\"u}n, Ismail and Weiss, Matthias}, title = {Altern und Produktivit{\"a}t}, series = {Personalf{\"u}hrung}, journal = {Personalf{\"u}hrung}, number = {07}, pages = {74 -- 81}, abstract = {Der Zusammenhang zwischen Alter und Leistungsf{\"a}higkeit von Besch{\"a}ftigten wird in den verschiedensten Disziplinen untersucht - mit zum Teil recht unterschiedlichen Ergebnissen.
