This is achieved by projecting speaker-specific information into the latent space of the transformer decoder via a small neural network and learning to process the speaker information along with domainspecific information via parameter-efficient finetuning. We use this method to improve the automatic speech recognition results of spoken academic German and English. Our approach yields average relative word error rate (WER) improvements of approximately 29\% on German academic speech and 25\% on English academic speech. It also translates well to conversational speech, achieving relative WER improvements of up to 36\%, and demonstrates modest gains of up to 5\% on read speech. Moreover, we observe that incorporating utterances from the recent past as personalization context yields the most significant overall improvements and that changes in voice characteristics resulting from prolonged speaking have a minimal effect on the personalization quality of academic lectures.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{BraunBayerlHoenigetal.2024, author = {Braun, Franziska and Bayerl, Sebastian and H{\"o}nig, Florian and Lehfeld, Hartmut and Hillemacher, Thomas and Bocklet, Tobias and Riedhammer, Korbinian}, title = {Infusing Acoustic Pause Context into Text-Based Dementia Assessment}, issn = {2958-1796}, doi = {10.21437/Interspeech.2024-2496}, pages = {1980-1984}, year = {2024}, abstract = {Speech pauses, alongside content and structure, offer a valuable and non-invasive biomarker for detecting dementia. However, it also reveals challenges in warmer climates where cooling requirements exceed heating demands. LSC systems here struggle due to increased soil temperatures, limiting their use for cooling, necessitating additional air conditioning. The FVM simulations also demonstrated that there is no supplementary soil dryness effect by using LSC systems. LSC systems paired with ground-source heat pumps (GS-HP) could reduce CO2 emissions by 72 \% to 81 \% compared to conventional Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems with economic benefits for residents. This study investigates the formation of ties in testimonial networks, focusing on both network-endogenous factors (reciprocity, transitivity and preferential attachment) and exogenous factors tied to social homophily, such as shared publisher, genre and gender. A network of 575 authors was constructed from testimonials in fiction books published between 2020 and 2024 and analyzed using Exponential Random Graph Models (ERGM). The results reveal strong effects of reciprocity, transitivity, and homophily, particularly with respect to publisher and genre. Reciprocity appears to play a key role in testimonial exchanges, suggesting that authors who provide testimonials are significantly more likely to receive testimonials in return. Authors are likely to form connections through shared relationships. However, the network does not exhibit significant inequality in tie distribution, indicating that preferential attachment is not a dominant mechanism. The results strongly confirm that shared attributes, especially publisher and genre, significantly influence testimonial formation, with publisher-based homophily being the most impactful. This reflects the role of publishers in orchestrating testimonial exchanges, as they may actively encourage authors within their networks to provide testimonials for one another. These findings offer insights into the structural dynamics of testimonial networks and provide practical implications for emerging authors seeking to establish connections in the competitive publishing market. The strong evidence for reciprocity underscores the im- portance of actively engaging in the testimonial exchange process. The lack of evidence for preferential attachment is a promising finding for emerging authors, as it suggests they are not disadvantaged by having fewer initial connections.}, language = {en} } @article{StielerBurghardtPoltermannetal.2021, author = {Stieler, Mara and Burghardt, Jennifer and Poltermann, Aleksandra and Dierks, Julisha and Lehmann, Robert}, title = {K{\"u}nstliche Intelligenz als Sozialarbeiterin}, series = {neue caritas}, volume = {122}, journal = {neue caritas}, number = {21}, publisher = {Deutscher Caritasverband e. This includes the acoustic signature of the impeller itself and the design of the fan casing. This is especially true for centrifugal fans with an asymmetric spiral casing. Here, a nonuniform and unsteady pressure field interacts with the volute cutoff, thus resulting in broadband noise radiation and, under given geometric circumstances, significant tonal noise effects. The current study investigates the relation between the local pressure distribution at the volute cutoff and the acoustic farfield signature of the fan. A low-speed centrifugal fan, placed in an anechoic environment, is equipped with pressure sensors to gather information on the mean pressure distribution and the unsteady wall pressure field at selected spots. Correlating the captured signature with the radiated far-field noise reveals significant common spectral components and helps identify relevant noise sources, affected by the volute cutoff. In the long term, the definition of transfer functions between the near-field wall pressure and the radiated noise into the far-field is expected to enhance the geometric optimisation of the volute cutoff in both experimental and numerical environments. The hydrated concretes' phase composition and microstructure were analyzed using XRD, TGA/DTG and SEM/optical-microscopy. The impact of elevated temperatures (300, 600 and 900◦C for 2 hrs) on the mechanical properties was studied. The volume stability of concrete specimens was investigated using a hot-stage microscope and thermodynamics calculations. Finally, the gamma-ray attenuation was evaluated against the 137Cs radioactive isotope with 0.662 MeV energy. The results revealed that Il-concrete has the highest slump value, highest bulk density and lowest water absorption. Also, it has the most outstanding efficiency in gamma-ray shielding; its attenuation is higher than D-concrete and S-concrete by 271.2 and 168.1 \%, respectively. These deviations arise under transient conditions due to several factors, including sensor resolution limitations, time delays between actuators and sensors, and inaccurate air mass estimation within the engine management system. While fuel mass control has significantly improved over the past three decades - achieving superior performance in terms of both dynamics and accuracy through the use of multiple injections per engine cycle - the primary challenge remains the precise control of air mass, particularly under transient conditions. Nonlinear wave dynamics and the inertia of the engine's air path make traditional solutions, such as slow and inefficient actuators like the butterfly valve, inadequate. This paper introduces a novel methodology to address these limitations by developing a device that is an order of magnitude faster than a butterfly valve while minimizing flow losses. The design philosophy is outlined, and the flow bench setup used to evaluate the performance of an instrumented prototype is presented. High-frequency data collected during testing are analyzed, and the extracted flow structure and turbulence parameters are discussed. Finally, the dynamic performance of the newly developed device is incorporated into a transient gas exchange engine model, where its capability to control λ on a cycle-resolved basis is evaluated against a conventional throttle body. Numerous studies have proven that NOx spikes during engine's accelerations and decelerations are well correlated to λ deviations from its setpoint. The assessment of the emissions reduction strategy under transient conditions is based on the device's precision in managing λ during each engine cycle, as derived from the transient model output.}, language = {en} } @incollection{KlohaAghamiriReineckeTerner2022, author = {Kloha, Johannes and Aghamiri, Kathrin and Reinecke-Terner, Anja}, title = {Schulsozialarbeit}, series = {Tr{\"a}ger, Arbeitsfelder und Zielgruppen der Sozialen Arbeit}, booktitle = {Tr{\"a}ger, Arbeitsfelder und Zielgruppen der Sozialen Arbeit}, editor = {Bieker, Rudolf and Niemeyer, Heike}, publisher = {Kohlhammer}, address = {Stuttgart}, isbn = {978-3-17-041959-9}, year = {2022}, language = {de} } @incollection{Kloha2023, author = {Kloha, Johannes}, title = {Der Prozess der Fallarbeit}, series = {Empirische Facetten der Schulsozialarbeit}, booktitle = {Empirische Facetten der Schulsozialarbeit}, editor = {Zipperle, Mirjana and Baur, Katharina}, publisher = {Beltz Juventa}, address = {Weinheim ; Basel}, isbn = {978-3-7799-7439-0}, pages = {36-47}, year = {2023}, language = {de} } @article{ReineckeTernerKloha2025, author = {Reinecke-Terner, Anja and Kloha, Johannes}, title = {Schulsozialarbeit und Inklusion - (Un-)gekl{\"a}rte Herausforderung?}, series = {Jugendhilfe}, journal = {Jugendhilfe}, number = {2}, issn = {0022-5940}, year = {2025}, abstract = {Die inklusive Schule stellt die Schulsozialarbeit vor Herausforderungen, die trotz langj{\"a}hriger Praxis nicht abschließend gekl{\"a}rt sind. Independent verification of published results is crucial for ensuring research quality and promoting further advancements. However, reproducibility in data-focused research is a growing concern across disciplines. Our research aims to improve the reproducibility of interaction-based emotion recognition research. For this, we evaluate current data sharing practices in this area. We survey these practices by examining 100 publications published from 2014 to 2024. We examined the characteristics of shared and not shared data, trends over time, and influences of authorship and publication type. We requested data from the publications' authors for which the data was not shared as part of the publication. Afterwards, we evaluated the reasons we were given as to why the data could not be shared. Overall, we observed limited data sharing, with only 15 out of 100 publications providing their data, even after we sent requests for data to authors. We only received data for four publications after sending requests via email to the authors. Furthermore, the shared artifacts are often insufficient for full reproducibility. We found that, data was shared along a journal article more often than a conference publication. However, data sharing increased noticeably in recent years, particularly since 2021. Overall, the lack of data sharing hinders the reproducibility and comparability of the research results. One of the essential tasks to optimize the overall efficiency of these drives is to precisely, dynamically and frictionless meter the reacting gases into the conversion chambers. In this paper, we propose a novel dosing system, focusing on gases (air), that is based on the principle of a variable Venturi nozzle, which incorporates a device for rapid variation of the effective flow cross-sectional area (EA) with negligible pressure losses. Each EA corresponds to a demanded load or mass flow and thus enables a dynamic control of the stoichiometry (l) of the machine. Our patented technology mainly consists of two surfaces perpendicular to the flow direction where one is fixed in space and the other one is moving at high frequency (> 20 Hz) towards or against the flow direction. Firstly, the underlying design philosophy and the details of the first prototype are presented, followed by an extensive description of the test bench setup, including data acquisition system. This is succeeded by a thorough analysis of the high-frequency data to extract flow characteristics and turbulence parameters. Subsequently, the transient performance of the Venturi system is experimentally compared with that of a throttle body. Finally, the capability of the Venturi system to precisely control the cycle-resolved air-fuel ratio of a hydrogen engine is demonstrated through transient simulation results based on a class B car operating under the FTP-75 driving cycle.}, language = {en} } @incollection{Kloha2022, author = {Kloha, Johannes}, title = {„Die m{\"o}chte ich auch m{\"o}glichst ins Boot mit reinnehmen…" - Die Kooperation von Schulsozialarbeiter*innen und Lehrkr{\"a}ften als ambivalente Herausforderung}, series = {Multiprofessionelle Teamarbeit in Sozialen Dienstleistungsberufen}, booktitle = {Multiprofessionelle Teamarbeit in Sozialen Dienstleistungsberufen}, editor = {Weimann-Sandig, Nina}, publisher = {Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden}, address = {Wiesbaden}, isbn = {9783658364854}, doi = {10.1007/978-3-658-36486-1_10}, pages = {117 -- 129}, year = {2022}, abstract = {Kooperation wird aus guten Gr{\"u}nden als „Kernaufgabe" von Schulsozialarbeiter*innen dargestellt. The study addresses a critical gap in understanding mini-grid efficiency, technical difficulties, and future potential. The key research questions focus on assessing mini-grid performance, identifying technical and operational challenges, quantifying the relationship between electricity demand and supply, and providing recommendations for enhancing rural electrification through mini-grids. These insights are crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of mini-grids in the African context and understanding their role in advancing rural electrification. By using a mixed-method approach, the research combines quantitative and qualitative data to offer a comprehensive analysis of these two mini-grid systems of Namibia. The data collected from 2017 to 2022 include metrics on energy supply, consumption, photovoltaic generation, community load, and meteorological conditions. Qualitative insights were gathered through field visits, surveys, and interviews with mini-grid operators, allowing for a thorough examination of community perspectives, operational issues, and technical performance. The findings reveal that the Tsumkwe mini-grid has seen a decline in efficiency due to maintenance problems and battery overheating, while the Gam mini-grid, initially oversized, now struggles with increased demand and new connections. This study provides the first detailed technical insights, identifies consumer archetypes, and evaluates the energy dynamics of mini-grids in Namibia.
