Three different additives were considered in an attempt to reduce the tendency towards agglomeration and caking, which are occuring effect, reducing process efficiency and stability. The selection of these additives was based on their performance in previous studies on the limestone and lactose material systems during dry grinding [1] – [3]. Instead of grinding especially separation and transport processes were taken into account. To test the efficiency of the additives used, the sieving capacity of the powders, the separation behavior in a zig-zag air classifier as well as the flow behavior in a vibratory feeder were tested. Here, only the results of the sieve analysis for the additive heptanoic acid are described since heptanoic acid showed the most significant effect compared to the other additives. Additionally, the results of the dynamic image analysis, laser diffraction spectroscopy and the flowability measurements are provided and will be discussed. [1] P. Prziwara, S. Breitung-Faes, und A.
