What if I have my publication published by a publisher or plan to do so?

This does not necessarily conflict with the publication on our document server. In accordance with the German copyright law, you, as the author of the document, have all rights of exploitation.

With the first publication in KU.opus you transfer the permanent non-exclusive right of use of your publication to the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, so that nothing speaks against further publication of your work in specialist journals or as a book.
This non-exclusive right of use allows the KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt to use the work in the approved way, without excluding any use by the author or third parties (e.g. by a publisher).

If you wish to publish your work with a publisher first and then publish it on KU.opus at a later stage, please ensure during the contract negotiations that you, as the author of the work, do not assign all rights in the work to the publisher but to generally reserve the right to online publication.

Please verify in any case whether your contract allows publication on our document sever! You can verify this for example by using the SHERPA/ROMEO list. However, the contract that you have concluded with the publisher is decisive.
