For the past 15 years, Germany has consistently ranked among the top 5 of the largest armament exporters world-wide, sending weapons, ammunition and so-called ‘dual use’ goods into international conflict zones. With the majority of the German public opposing such practices, it has become questionable whether strategic political decisions concerning armament exports are still under democratic control, or whether it is justifiable to speak of the existence of a so-called ‘military-industrial complex’ in Germany. The concept, which describes an alliance between a nation’s military troops, its defense industry as its main supplier and parts of the political apparatus, is already commonly used when speaking about the US situation. The thesis investigates whether the use of the term can be justified in the context of Germany focusing on the procurement practices of the German unified armed forces (Bundeswehr), the arms exporting practices of German corporations, and the lobbying power of the German defense industry. Finally, the case of German arms exports to Saudi Arabia was used to evaluate the concept on a clear example. The case study also provides insight to what extent public pressure plays a role in bringing decisions about armament exports back under democratic control.

After the introduction into the topic and its relevancy, customer experience management and its relation to third-party cookies for digital advertising are explained. Common methods to track customers along the customer journey are established; one of them being third-party cookies. The third chapter presents all categories of web cookies and describes their purposes. Thereafter, data privacy legislations, which regulate cookie usage and consumer rights are introduced. In the same chapter, a timeline of the third-party cookie phase-out is given and cookies’ efficacy for advertising is analysed. In spite of marketer’s reliance on third-party cookies, the deprecation of them might present marketers with new opportunities.
Sensordaten abzeichnenden Defekt einzuleiten.
frei konfigurierbare, individuelle Angebote fordern.
Abstract: Consulting research aims at mapping scientific and practical perspectives against each other. Therefore, this Thesis is considering theoretical knowledge as well as practical insights which were empirically conducted. The author aims at creating a first snapshot on the influence of the Corona pandemic on the business model of the German consulting industry. Based on guideline-based, semi-structured interviews, the research gap on this recent topic was closed. Also, the author provides practicians with implications.
Summary: Contact bans imposed by the Corona pandemic led to a reduced amount of business travels and an increase in remote consulting. Digitalisation within the consulting industry was already on the horizon but pushed. Acceptance of clients for remote consulting increased. It became apparent that many activities do not have to be carried out at the client site. Video conferencing and online communication tools made remote project execution possible.
However, not all consulting fields seem to be suitable for remote execution. These include mainly soft and conflict-ridden topics as well as group workshops. Although, different online formats have been tried, innovative formats overcoming this obstacle are still missing. Nevertheless, it is assumed that relevance of remote consulting will remain high and that a hybrid consulting world will emerge.
The long-time successful consulting industry is suffering from economic effects of the Corona pandemic. Some projects have been cancelled or down streamed. Remote networking and acquisition of new projects has become a challenge. Furthermore, clients are becoming more price sensitive. However, this does not seem to affect the entire German consulting industry or all client segments. In the long run, demand for consulting is also not expected to decrease.
Some long-term effects are still unclear. These include possible changes in the cost structure, impact of remote consulting on the work-life balance, and effort required to create remote consulting. Changes to the business model so far mainly concern the shift of key activities to the online world and the increased use of new channels. There seems to be a strong hope for a quick return to business as usual. However, there are signals indicating that further business model innovation may be necessary.

Fintech is an innovative tool that applies technology to improve financial services.
Mobile Baking is the most common product of Fintech and has vast prospects to
improve access to financial resources for the previously unbanked populations. The role
of Fintech in providing inclusion is especially vital in developing countries- where the
proportion of the financially excluded remains high. This study focuses on the role of
M-Banking in serving mentioned populations, and identifies the factors influencing
adoption and usage of Fintech services. The last part also introduces the case of
Azerbaijan-a former USSR country, and concludes by drawing the potential paths of its
Fintech-inclusion development.
This master thesis aims to identify the defining variables for a market ramp-up of electric road systems (ERS) and to develop scenarios for the potential market launch of the technology in Germany and Europe. For this purpose, a comprehensive analysis of the political, regulatory and economic variables is conducted, which finally leads to the generation of different market ramp-up scenarios.
The role of a Universal Basic Income in addressing the socio-ecological crisis – a critical analysis
(2021)
Human induced environmental degradation and the continuous rise in inequality are two of the greatest and most pressing challenges currently facing society (UN, 2020). Climate mitigation, ecological sustainability, combating poverty and social inequality are considered prevailing imperatives to contemporary global policy. On the premise that the challenges of ecological sustainability and social inequality call for a collective response, many scholars claim that it requires alternative proposals designed to initiate a multi-disciplinary socio-ecological transition (SET) that can address both issues in an integrated way (Hall et al., 2019). This paper considers the proposal of a Universal Basic Income (UBI)1 that has long been discussed as redistributive economic policy and at present increasingly receives attention regarding strategies to improve ecological sustainability. Although Basic Income (BI) proposals have been put forward by Green and post-growth movements such as degrowth, the ecological case receives less emphasis as evidenced by the fact that hitherto research on the interface of UBI and the environment has been fairly limited (MacNeill & Vibert, 2019). The present paper will enlarge upon the question of how adequate the concept of a BI policy might be in addressing the socio-ecological crisis by critically discussing arguments that indicate its positive environmental impact. By doing so, the paper contributes to the current academic debate on BI that has been revitalized in recent years.
