This development asks for a more subtle understanding of the role of industrial relations institutions for trade union membership. The paper addresses the phenomenon by locating the main problem areas of membership erosion, such as weak service sector membership and the ageing of membership in manufacturing trade unions. It argues that industrial relations institutions have a double effect. Industry unionism is on the one hand a key pillar for centralized bargaining and institutional stability. On the other hand, stable institutional structures might have contributed to the membership decline.}, language = {en} } @book{Hassel, author = {Hassel, Anke}, title = {Wage Setting, Social Pacts and the Euro. Recently, however, social pacts have demonstrated an impressive resurgence, as governments across Europe facing necessary economic policy adjustments have chosen to view trade unions as vital negotiating partners rather than adversaries. Wage Setting, Social Pacts, and the Euro offers a theoretical understanding of the forces that have led to this new understanding, and of the challenges that increasing monetary integration will continue to pose.}, language = {en} } @incollection{Hassel, author = {Hassel, Anke}, title = {Gewerkschaften}, series = {Interessenverb{\"a}nde in Deutschland}, booktitle = {Interessenverb{\"a}nde in Deutschland}, publisher = {Springer VS}, address = {Wiesbaden}, isbn = {978-3-531-14589-1}, pages = {173 -- 196}, language = {de} } @article{Hassel, author = {Hassel, Anke}, title = {Aufwachen in der Kinderpolitik}, series = {Berliner Republik: Debattenmagazin}, volume = {2007}, journal = {Berliner Republik: Debattenmagazin}, number = {2}, edition = {Hart gelandet}, publisher = {Berliner Vorw{\"a}rts-Verlagsges.}, address = {Berlin}, issn = {1616-4903}, language = {de} } @article{Hassel, author = {Hassel, Anke}, title = {Das Fristenproblem}, series = {Berliner Republik: das Debattenmagazin}, volume = {2007}, journal = {Berliner Republik: das Debattenmagazin}, number = {1}, edition = {German Hoffnung}, publisher = {Berliner Vorw{\"a}rts-Verlagsges.}, address = {Berlin}, issn = {1616-4903}, language = {de} } @article{Hassel, author = {Hassel, Anke}, title = {Mein Vater, der Lokomotivf{\"u}hrer}, series = {Berliner Republik: das Debattenmagazin}, volume = {2007}, journal = {Berliner Republik: das Debattenmagazin}, number = {6}, publisher = {Berliner Vorw{\"a}rts-Verlagsges.}, address = {Berlin}, issn = {1616-4903}, language = {de} } @article{Hassel, author = {Hassel, Anke}, title = {Schweigen ist Bronze}, series = {Berliner Republik: das debattenmagazin}, volume = {2007}, journal = {Berliner Republik: das debattenmagazin}, number = {4}, edition = {Russen.
