Unterbrechungen treten bei Dienstleistungsarbeit – quer durch alle Tätigkeits- und Qualifikationsbereiche – überproportional häufig auf. In diesem Text wird an Hand zweier Fallstudien aus der agilen Softwareentwicklung untersucht, inwieweit
Projektmanagementansätze wie Scrum als Möglichkeit zur Reduktion von Unterbrechungen verstanden werden können. Die Ergebnisse weisen insbesondere auf die zentrale Bedeutung des Prinzips der Selbstorganisation hin.
Die Corona-Pandemie hat tiefe Spuren auch in der empirischen Sozialforschung hinterlassen. Insbesondere qualitativ Forschende sehen die Pandemie als Einschnitt und Zensur. Dieser Artikel versucht dagegen, die Herausforderungen der Pandemie mit Blick auf die arbeitssoziologische Fallstudienforschung als Beschleunigung von Wandlung wie Heterogenität arbeitssoziologischer Forschung zu begreifen. Dies wird anhand der theoretisch-konzeptionellen, methodologischen wie empirischen Ebenen aufgezeigt. Die Pandemie und ihre Folgen führen demnach weniger zu einer substanziellen Krise insbesondere der qualitativen Forschung, als vielmehr zur Reflexion eigener Grundannahmen und Vorgehensweisen auf den genannten Ebenen: Empirisch wie forschungspolitisch wird das eigene Erwartungsmanagement herausgefordert, methodisch wie konzeptionell verlangt der heterogenere Zugang zu Interviewees, Betrieben und die damit verbundenen Veränderungen in den Fallrekonstruktionen Antworten.
Is the Scrum Board Feminine?

The so-called agile movement was formed to stop the "quasi-Taylorization" especially of software development. It could be described as a kind of a grassroots movement that aims to act as a counterbalance to bureaucratization and technocentrism in the working processes of developers. The key idea behind Scrum is that instead of working as isolated individuals, separated from their actual work product, developers now operate in teams, which are the core component of their work and organizational processes (Cockburn and Highsmith 2001; Junker et al. 2021). Agile teams use the Scrum board (Figure 14.1) to plan and estimate their work tasks for the next time period, usually lasting 2-4 weeks (the so-called sprint). e inquire whether the Scrum board can be seen as a feminine tool in software development, which is still a highly androcentric field. Is it a tool by means of which female empowerment can materialize, and does it contribute to other aspects of gender equity in the world of work?
Die Corona-Pandemie forderte im Zeitraffer Veränderungen (nicht nur) von der Arbeitswelt. Für die qualitative (Arbeits-)Forschung ist dies thematisch wie methodologisch herausfordernd. Ausgehend von der These, dass sich insbesondere qualitative Forschungsmethoden notwendig durch eine gewisse Fluidität auszeichnen, wird am Beispiel eigener partizipativer Forschung aufgezeigt, dass Forschungsmethoden durchaus virtuell durchgeführt werden können – und in Zukunft ggf. sogar müssen.
The discourse around digitalisation has become detached from the lived reality of the world of work. This discourse is dominated by vague, nebulous promises about new models of work on the one hand and dire warnings of a mass replacement of human labour on the other. Drawing on the work of Erich Fromm, we argue that this creates a risk of regression, as people turn to ‘traditional’ authority figures or a fatalistic solutionism that places unconditional faith in technology. We instead propose an alternative approach rooted in people’s actual experiences that looks for ways that digital technology can be used to support and augment, rather than replace, human labour.
The market ramp-up of electromobility is shifting vehicle-to-grid (V2G) issues into the focus of research and industry. Electric vehicles (EVs) have the potential to support the trend towards renewable energies in their role as storage units during idle times. To participate in balancing power and energy markets, EVs are pooled via aggregators. Instead of a random composition, aggregators can smartly compose their pools and add only those vehicles that actually contribute to the pool’s performance, gaining advantages over competitors. The optimization methods presented in this paper form optimized pool combinations based on the power and energy capability profiles of commercial EVs. Genetic algorithms are used to determine the revenues of the possible pools per participating EV. The use cases analyzed are the provision of balancing power on the frequency containment reserve (FCR) market of Central Europe and energy arbitrage trading on the European power exchange intraday continuous and day-ahead auction spot markets. The results show that through smart pool composition, an aggregator can increase revenue per vehicle by up to seven-fold across the markets compared to randomly assembled pools. In the Central European market, for example, the potential V2G revenues on the FCR market (380 €) exceeded those of arbitrage trading (28 € − 203 €) in 2020. In a simulation, we show the increased degradation of the vehicle battery in V2G operation compared to sole use for mobility with a smart charging strategy. However, the additional revenue can make V2G financially worthwhile, depending on costs for measuring equipment, bidirectional charging stations, and aggregator costs.
