Is it possible for pharmaceutical companies to apply the concepts of industry 4.0, such as the smart factory, completely in their GMP relevant production processes? Are the GMP guidelines generally open to modern production methods enabled by I4.0? Are those responsible in the pharmaceutical industry familiar with the possibilities of I4.0?
The hypotheses could not be supported completely. The survey shows that the potential of industry 4.0 concepts has not yet arrived in large parts of the workforce and the management level. The GMP regulations allow innovations in many areas, but with considerable effort during the implementation phase. The complete introduction of a smart factory means a reinterpretation of the existing regulations. This leads to very cautious first steps which are in the area of employee support, not the introduction of new processes in the workflow itself.
This book is a compendium, a collection of concise yet detailed information, designed as a resource for businesspeople, looking at communication knowledge, skills, mindset, and tools, and refreshing the application of useful models. We challenge individuals to choose to care about how they communicate - not how important they appear, but how they positively influence others and make others feel. Many of the models some may already have come across. What is new is considering why communication is so important, what mindset leaders need to make a difference and then the right tool or approach for many different work-related scenarios. It's all about the goal and the meaning they convey when leaders set out to share information, seek input, discuss ideas, build relationships, show appreciation or open up about hopes and dreams.
With globalization and digitalization steadily contributing to the rising presence of virtual work, which is inherently different than working in an office, we also review the different set of skills to master virtual communication and collaboration. By combining real-life examples, theory and practical application, we share valuable and highly applicable know-how so leaders will be able to grow as communicators and have a reliable resource they can go back to time and time again.
Why it is that half the population is female, yet women made up only 7% of Fortune 500 CEOs in 2020?
This book explores why this shocking fact should concern all workers and what women in particular bring to the workplace. It reviews the imposed barriers versus the choices women make that reduce their numbers at senior levels and seeks to guide both women and men in how to promote and retain great talent that can otherwise be lost.
Women expect life to be fair, yet it is not. It is not easy being a woman in the male-defined business world. It is not easy being harshly judged by men and women. It is not easy having to be better than male counterparts. It is not easy having to always appear credible through higher competence and professionalism. Women have to tolerate old norms and yet take huge steps to connect with and improve the world around them. This means developing their own mindset, skills and interactions with men and women in the workplace. Based on research evidence and personal experiences, this book reveals why not all environments are appropriate for women to thrive in and shares examples from women who have shown the courage to be their authentic self and become role models for others.
In the light of a new level of reciprocal visibility in the digital age, the journalist–audience relationship has fundamentally changed. Mutual expectations become visible or evolve anew. The question arises as to how these expectations and their (non-)fulfillment influence the journalist–audience relationship. Taking an interpersonal communication perspective by following expectancy violations theory, we focus on the level of interactions and propose a theoretical framework explaining how the interplay of journalists’ and audience’s mutual expectations affects their relationship. Our aim is to contribute to a better understanding of the journalist–audience relationship in digital media environments—and to provide indications for its functioning or failure.
Current chatbot development platforms and frameworks facilitate setting up the language and dialog part of chatbots, while connecting it to backend services and business functions requires substantial manual coding effort and programming skills. This paper proposes an approach to overcome this situation. It proposes an architecture with a chatbot as frontend using an IoT (Internet of Things) platform as a middleware for connections to backend services. Specifically, it elaborates and demonstrates how to combine a chatbot developed on the open source development platform Rasa with the open source platform Node-RED, allowing low-code or no-code development of a transactional conversational user interface from frontend to backend.
