This is important, since the increasing miniaturization and performance demands for electronic devices have led in a growing need for advanced thermal management systems capable of handling rapid transient loads. The novelty of the work lies in examining different heat sink layouts that optimize the heat dissipation capabilities of GR42 PCMs while minimizing size and weight for electronic cooling. The experimental testing was conducted using three configurations, namely no fin, circular fin and hexagonal fin, with three input powers (4 W, 8 W, and 12 W). The experimental results show that the hexagonal-fin heat sink, surface area is 25 \% more than circular fins, exhibited superior thermal performance without significant variation in input power. Notably, the hexagonal-fin heat sink achieved the desired set point temperature of 55 ◦C in 33 \% less time than the circular-fin design and 45 \% less time than the heat sink without fins. Furthermore, the peak temperatures increased up to 21 \% for circular fins. During the charging cycles, the enhancement ratios vary from 72 \% and begin to narrow to 25 \% during discharge cycles. The hexagonal-fin configuration also exhibited superior melting dynamics, completing the phase transition 44 \% faster at higher input power than the circular fins, and established a thermal deviation of nearly 51 \% less than finless heat sinks. These findings underscore the critical role of fin geometry and PCM integration in achieving uniform temperature distribution and improved energy storage efficiency. Overall, the hexagonal-fin heat sink with GR42 PCM shows strong potential as a passive cooling solution for low-power portable electronic devices.}, language = {en} } @unpublished{YuwonoLoeppenbergSchwungetal.2024, author = {Yuwono, Steve and L{\"o}ppenberg, Marlon and Schwung, Dorothea and Schwung, Andreas}, title = {Gradient-based Learning in State-based Potential Games for Self-Learning Production Systems}, series = {arxiv}, journal = {arxiv}, publisher = {arxiv}, doi = {10.48550/arXiv.2406.10015}, year = {2024}, abstract = {In this paper, we introduce novel gradient-based optimization methods for state-based potential games (SbPGs) within self-learning distributed production systems. SbPGs are recognised for their efficacy in enabling self-optimizing distributed multi-agent systems and offer a proven convergence guarantee, which facilitates collaborative player efforts towards global objectives. Our study strives to replace conventional ad-hoc random exploration-based learning in SbPGs with contemporary gradient-based approaches, which aim for faster convergence and smoother exploration dynamics, thereby shortening training duration while upholding the efficacy of SbPGs. Moreover, we propose three distinct variants for estimating the objective function of gradient-based learning, each developed to suit the unique characteristics of the systems under consideration. To validate our methodology, we apply it to a laboratory testbed, namely Bulk Good Laboratory Plant, which represents a smart and flexible distributed multi-agent production system. However, on average only 10\% of the molecules can be annotated. This low annotation rate hampers biochemical interpretation and effective comparison of metabolomics studies. Furthermore, de novo structural characterization of mass spectral data remains a complicated and time-intensive process. Recently, the field of computational metabolomics has gained traction and novel methods have started to enable large-scale and reliable metabolite annotation. Molecular networking and machine learning-based in-silico annotation tools have been shown to greatly assist metabolite characterization in diverse fields such as clinical metabolomics and natural product discovery. Aim of review We highlight recent advances in computational metabolite annotation workflows with a special focus on their evaluation and comparison with other tools. Whilst the progress is substantial and promising, we also argue that inconsistencies in benchmarking different tools hamper users from selecting the most appropriate and promising method for their research. We summarize benchmarking strategies of the different tools and outline several recommendations for benchmarking and comparing novel tools. Key scientific concepts of review This review focuses on recent advances in mass spectral library-based and machine learning-supported metabolite annotation workflows. We discuss large-scale library matching and analogue search, the current bloom of mass spectral similarity scores, and how molecular networking has changed the field. In addition, the potentials and challenges of machine learning-supported metabolite annotation workflows are highlighted. Overall, recent developments in computational metabolomics have started to fundamentally change metabolomics workflows, and we expect that as a community we will be able to overcome current method performance ambiguities and annotation bottlenecks.}, subject = {Metabolomik}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{GeigerThieleMeyeretal.2013, author = {Geiger, Christian and Thiele, Simon and Meyer, Laurid and Meyer, Stefan and H{\"o}ren, Lutz and Drochtert, Daniel}, title = {Goin' Goblins - Iterative Design of an Entertaining Archery Experience}, series = {Advances in Computer Entertainment. 10th International Conference, ACE 2013, Boekelo, The Netherlands, November 12-15, 2013. The method is called Exploring Generative Logic (EGL). The method is based on the concept of Generative Logic. Both methods are under development at the Faculty of Design, HSD, University of Applied Sciences, D{\"u}sseldorf. The basic idea of teaching Prolog with EGL is to present Prolog not as "another" programming language, but primarily as a logic AI. This perspective helps beginners gain a clear view of how Prolog works and focuses on understanding Prolog as a powerful generative AI, making it highly attractive in the domain of art and design. The author assumes that the EGL method can be easily adapted to other educational settings: education of non-programmers of all ages, including children in elementary or secondary schools, as well as students in other non-STEM curricula, to develop skills in logical thinking, digital literacy, AI literacy, and artistic literacy. The focus is laid on indoor soundscapes and the interplay between acoustic measures, individual differences, and contextual factors. A retrospective online study and a field study at peoples' homes based on the Experience Sampling Method were the ecologically valid ground truth for four key publications. These address significant gaps in soundscape research by providing insights into the factors influencing sound perception in real-life contexts, the evaluation of low-level (i.e., quiet) sounds, and the consequences of (in)appropriate statistical analysis of imbalanced hierarchical soundscape data. The studies reveal that the sound source category is a critical predictor of annoyance and the pleasantness of soundscapes, with different types of sounds (e.g., natural, human, technical) having distinct impacts. Contrary, the effect of acoustic measures like perceived and calculated loudness on sound perception was expected to be high but was masked by contextual factors. These were the perceived control over the acoustic situation and the affective state of a person in the specific situation, proving context-related perceptual measures to be more important than the sound itself. The research consequently highlights the need for automatic sound source identification in complex polyphony everyday sound environments and suggests that individual preferences and liking of sounds could be potential factors in predicting individual sound perception. The dissertation also emphasizes the importance of using appropriate statistical methods, including mixed-effects models and nonlinear regression techniques, to generate more generalizable and more valid results based on hierarchical and imbalanced soundscape data. The findings underscore the limitations of traditional acoustic metrics and advocate for the use of time-series data to better capture the dynamic nature of everyday sound environments in contrast to stimuli typically used in laboratory studies. The author further developed a multi-objective function for avoiding both over- and underfitting during hyperparameter tuning, significantly improving generalized model fitting in soundscape research. Overall, this work contributes to the field of soundscape research by providing a comprehensive analysis of sound perception in indoor environments, highlighting the importance of context, individual differences, and advanced statistical methods in understanding and modeling soundscapes. We examined if the assumed effect of gazing rituals on attractiveness ratings exists and if it is associated with dissociation. In an experiment, we asked N = 65 non-clinical females to focus on the nose of a photographed face at pre- and post-test. In between, participants gazed at the nose of either the same (relevant gazing) or another face (irrelevant gazing).
