Hence the claim for ecological validity of such experiments is reasonable, but too vague in its bare formulation. The estimation of ecological validity requires theoretical knowledge about the meaning and the totality of factors influencing everyday listening and their interaction. Therefore the influence of "reality factors" on the sound evaluation of household appliances was investigated within the framework of nine experiments. These tests were performed in four different settings with varied reality degrees. The psychological realism and the perceived face validity of the tests were examined by means of interviews. The results reveal, on the one hand, that stimuli are perceived as more pleasant in everyday-like environments. The analysis of the relative judgments shows, on the other hand, that the influence of the experimental realism is moderated by a number of factors. These are the saliency and meaning of the sounds, differences between the assessed devices, and personality traits. The correlation and regression analysis confirms that the perceived sound character is widely independent from experimental realism. However, there is great empirical evidence, that valid assessments of sound quality require the reconstruction of everyday attention and action processes.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{Steffens2013, author = {Steffens, Jochen}, title = {Ger{\"a}uschbeurteilung im Kontext des Wohnumfeldes}, series = {ALD-Winterveranstaltung "Nachbarschaftsl{\"a}rm"}, booktitle = {ALD-Winterveranstaltung "Nachbarschaftsl{\"a}rm"}, address = {Berlin}, year = {2013}, language = {de} } @phdthesis{Steffens2013, author = {Steffens, Jochen}, title = {"Wie viel Realit{\"a}t braucht der Mensch?" - Untersuchungen zum Einfluss der Versuchsumgebung auf die Ger{\"a}uschbeurteilung von Haushaltsger{\"a}ten}, publisher = {Technische Universit{\"a}t}, address = {Berlin}, organization = {Technische Universit{\"a}t}, doi = {10.14279/depositonce-3732}, year = {2013}, language = {de} } @inproceedings{Steffens2013, author = {Steffens, Jochen}, title = {When do we judge sounds? - Relevant everyday situations for the estimation of ecological validity of indoor soundscape experiments}, series = {International Congress on Acoustics (ICA) 2013, Montr{\´e}al, Canada}, booktitle = {International Congress on Acoustics (ICA) 2013, Montr{\´e}al, Canada}, address = {Montr{\´e}al}, doi = {10.1121/1.4800346}, year = {2013}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{GrebSteffens2013, author = {Greb, Fabian and Steffens, Jochen}, title = {The Impact of Music Preference on the Physiological Activation of the Human Body due to Music Reception}, series = {Fortschritte der Akustik 2013, DAGA-AIA, Merano, Italy, CD-ROM}, booktitle = {Fortschritte der Akustik 2013, DAGA-AIA, Merano, Italy, CD-ROM}, address = {Merano}, year = {2013}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{KaerstSteffensSkoda2013, author = {K{\"a}rst, Michaela and Steffens, Jochen and Skoda, Sabrina}, title = {Subjective evaluation and psychoacoustic analysis of the sound quality of low-noise asphalt on motorways in North-Rhine Westphalia}, series = {Fortschritte der Akustik 2013,DAGA-AIA, Merano, Italy, CD-ROM}, booktitle = {Fortschritte der Akustik 2013,DAGA-AIA, Merano, Italy, CD-ROM}, address = {Merano}, year = {2013}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{SkodaSteffensBeckerSchweitzer2013, author = {Skoda, Sabrina and Steffens, Jochen and Becker-Schweitzer, J{\"o}rg}, title = {Investigations on subconscious perception of product sounds}, series = {Fortschritte der Akustik 2013}, booktitle = {Fortschritte der Akustik 2013}, year = {2013}, language = {en} } @article{HuberSchnaussRoenickeetal.2013, author = {Huber, Florian and Schnauß, J{\"o}rg and R{\"o}nicke, S. and Rauch, P. and M{\"u}ller, K. and F{\"u}tterer, C. and K{\"a}s, Josef}, title = {Emergent complexity of the cytoskeleton: from single filaments to tissue}, series = {Advances in Physics}, volume = {62}, journal = {Advances in Physics}, number = {1}, publisher = {Taylor \& Francis}, issn = {1460-6976}, doi = {10.1080/00018732.2013.771509}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:hbz:due62-opus-34812}, pages = {1 -- 112}, year = {2013}, abstract = {Despite their overwhelming complexity, living cells display a high degree of internal mechanical and functional organization which can largely be attributed to the intracellular biopolymer scaffold, the cytoskeleton. Being a very complex system far from thermodynamic equilibrium, the cytoskeleton's ability to organize is at the same time challenging and fascinating. The extensive amounts of frequently interacting cellular building blocks and their inherent multifunctionality permits highly adaptive behavior and obstructs a purely reductionist approach. Nevertheless (and despite the field's relative novelty), the physics approach has already proved to be extremely successful in revealing very fundamental concepts of cytoskeleton organization and behavior. This review aims at introducing the physics of the cytoskeleton ranging from single biopolymer filaments to multicellular organisms. Throughout this wide range of phenomena, the focus is set on the intertwined nature of the different physical scales (levels of complexity) that give rise to numerous emergent properties by means of self-organization or self-assembly.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{StrygulecMuellerMeuteretal.2013, author = {Strygulec, Sarah and M{\"u}ller, Dennis and Meuter, Mirko and Nunn, Christian and Ghosh, Shamila and W{\"o}hler, Christian}, title = {Road boundary detection and tracking using monochrome camera images}, series = {2013 16th International Conference on Information Fusion (FUSION)}, booktitle = {2013 16th International Conference on Information Fusion (FUSION)}, publisher = {IEEE}, isbn = {978-605-86311-1-3}, pages = {864 -- 870}, year = {2013}, language = {en} }
