abstract = {AbstractThe quality of political reporting in the news media is a focal point of communication research. Politics, however, is not only conveyed via traditional sources of information, but via fictional sources. In particular, political dramas (e. g., The West Wing, Borgen) enjoy great popularity and are often acknowledged for their realistic depiction of politics. Still, little is known about the democratic quality of such fictional depictions. This paper aims to fill the gap by contrasting the depiction of politics in the fictional TV series Borgen with political reporting in a traditional TV magazine (Berlin direkt). The comparative content analysis is based on ten issues that are covered in both formats and focuses on the quality criteria of relevance, pluralism, and democratic discourse norms. Findings show no significant differences between Borgen and Berlin direkt for any of the three criteria, clearly indicating that fictional TV series can offer the same content quality as political reporting.},

abstract = {Since social media influencers have become popular and monetize their content with the help of advertising deals, they have been associated with morally questionable, deceptive behavior. The list of misconduct is long. It includes, for example, not disclosing sponsored content, withholding negative experiences with promoted products, buying fake followers, and promoting false ideals of beauty. Building on the concept of "dirty work" as a theoretical framework, this article asks which strategies influencers use to soften this moral taint. Qualitative interviews with influencers living in Germany show that they are aware of their negative image in public and use various stigma management strategies. This article offers a perspective that has not yet played a role in the ethics debate about influencers. It asks how influencers, who are often associated with morally questionable practices, immunize themselves against this negative image and find a positive work identity.},

abstract = {During its process of diffusion, YouTube has become increasingly attractive for advertisers, not only in terms of classical commercials (like pre-roll ads) but also in terms of product placement opportunities. This article aims to explore the processes between YouTube creators and advertisers concerning product placement enquiries. For this purpose, YouTube creators from Germany ( n = 57) answered an online survey about their experiences with advertisers. The creators covered a wide range of YouTube channel genres (beauty, fashion, comedy, gaming, cooking) and differed in number of subscribers. Some creators who took part in the survey had less than 20,000 subscribers, others had between 20,000 and 500,000 subscribers and still others had more than 500,000 subscribers. How often do YouTube creators use product placement? Is paid-for placement an important source of finance for them? How professional are the relations and processes between YouTube creators and advertisers? Before presenting and discussing the results of the empirical survey of the current use of product placement, a brief history of how YouTube has become a marketing space for advertisers is provided.},
