Ziel des Sammelbandes ist es, die Perspektive von Adressat*innen und Nutzer*innen Sozialer Arbeit auf die durch die Corona-Krise bedingten Ver{\"a}nderungen ihrer Alltagswelten und die Angebote Sozialer Arbeit empirisch aufzuzeigen. Hierzu werden im Sammelband sowohl erste empirische Analysen dargestellt als auch die vorliegenden Ergebnisse {\"u}bergreifend auf Theoriedebatten sowie Impulse f{\"u}r Praxis und Forschung Sozialer Arbeit hin diskutiert. Der gegenw{\"a}rtigen empirischen Leerstelle bezogen auf die Wahrnehmung der Krise von Adressat*innen und Nutzer*innen Sozialer Arbeit steht aktuell eine weit verbreitete Sorge dem Wohlergehen der Adressat*innen Sozialer Arbeit entgegen. Seit April 2020 gibt es eine Vielzahl an Problemaufrissen, Brandbriefen, problematisierenden Analysen, die die Corona-Krise als Verst{\"a}rkerin ohnehin bestehender sozialer Ungleichheiten betrachten und je nach Ausrichtung politische Interventionen fordern. Ein Großteil dieser Analysen bezieht sich entweder auf Einsch{\"a}tzungen von Sozialarbeiter*innen oder auf analytische Schl{\"u}sse. Im Vergleich zur Perspektive der Sozialen Arbeit als Profession gibt es dagegen bisher kaum Ver{\"o}ffentlichungen zu der Frage, wie die Adressat*innen und Nutzer*innen Sozialer Arbeit selbst die Corona-Krise betrachten und erleben, die in all ihrer Unterschiedlichkeit doch gemein haben, dass sie zumeist {\"u}ber unterdurchschnittliche soziale, {\"o}konomische und kulturelle Ressourcen verf{\"u}gen. Here I propose a simple framework for estimating the contribution of these strategies to the growth rate of labor productivity from a time-series perspective. This framework is then used to assess the impact of offshoring on skill upgrading and the labor share. For both empirical questions I take up the study of a group of Japanese industries during the recent years of slow growth. The results should be interpreted with caution yet clearly suggest that offshoring can improve labor productivity in the semiconductors industry. Moreover, offshoring is found to be the source of important changes among industries with different skills (skill upgrading) and an important factor behind the fall of the labor share.}, language = {de} } @techreport{AgneseHromcova2014, author = {Agnese, Pablo and Hromcov{\´a}, Jana}, title = {Low-Skill Offshoring: Labor Market Policies and Welfare Effects}, number = {30}, address = {D{\"u}sseldorf}, organization = {Fachhochschule D{\"u}sseldorf}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:hbz:due62-opus-8589}, year = {2014}, abstract = {We analyze the effects of low-skill workers offshoring on the welfare of the economy. In the context of a matching model with different possible equilibria, we discuss two policies that could potentially outweigh the negative welfare effects of offshoring, namely, an increase of the unemployment benefits and the flexibilization of the labor market. Our results suggest that, while both policy instruments can theoretically bring the economy back to previous welfare levels, careful thought should be given to the practicability of either measure. In particular, it would take a major increase of the unemployment benefits but only a small reduction in the vacancy cost to compensate for the negative welfare effects of offshoring. Although research programmes in psychology and economics have contributed to an improved understanding of music-related behaviour, historically, these disciplines have been unconnected. Recently, however, researchers have begun to bridge this gap by employing tools from behavioural economics. This article contributes to the literature by providing a discussion about the benefits of using behavioural economics in music-decision research. We achieve this in two ways. First, through a systematic review, we identify the current state of the literature within four key areas of behavioural economics-heuristics and biases, social decision-making, behavioural time preferences, and dual-process theory. Second, taking findings of the literature as a starting point, we demonstrate how behavioural economics can inform future research. In relations to the recent eruption, the group measured ash and several gaseous species in the plume 10-300 km from the volcano. The eruption emitted ash turned out to be mostly in the fine aerosol range (much less than 10 micrometers in diameter). Our highest measured concentrations were lower than 1 mg/m3 indicating that commercial air traffic was not threatened (greater than 2 mg/m3) by the ash contamination. But we measured sulfur dioxide (SO2 ) up to 90 mg/m3, which presented a potentially dangerous pollution problem. However, airborne measurements indicate that the sulfur concentration decays (probably due to scavenging) as the plume is carried by the wind from the volcano, which limits the area of immediate danger to the public. Here we present size distribution for particulate matter collected during flights, near and far from the crater at various times. The particle data is then compared with simultaneously collected sulfur dioxide data and the rate of decay of is estimated. Sulfur and particle concentration variations with height in the far plume are presented. Some airborne measurements for H2S, NO, NO2 and CO2 will also be presented. This includes correlation matrices for simultaneous measurements of these gases and comparison to National Air Quality Standards and background values.}, subject = {Vulkanasche}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{ArnoldBeck2025, author = {Arnold, S. and Beck, Ralf}, title = {Dezentrale Aufgabenverteilung in Multi-Roboter-Systemen auf Basis des Contract Net Protocol}, series = {Tagungsband AALE 2025: Menschzentrierte Automation im digitalen Zeitalter}, booktitle = {Tagungsband AALE 2025: Menschzentrierte Automation im digitalen Zeitalter}, editor = {Reiff-Stephan, J{\"o}rg and J{\"a}kel, Jens and Reichelt, Dirk}, publisher = {Hochschule f{\"u}r Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig}, address = {Leipzig}, isbn = {978-3-910103-05-4}, doi = {10.33968/2025.03}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:hbz:due62-opus-54976}, pages = {11 -- 20}, year = {2025}, abstract = {Dieser Beitrag beschreibt die Umsetzung und experimentelle Validierung einer dezentralen, agenten-basierten Aufgabenverteilung f{\"u}r Multi-Roboter-Systeme auf Basis des Contract Net Protocol. On that account, policy and research are focused almost exclusively on women - often on the reconciliation of work and childbearing - and social policy at the state level. In our study, we concentrate on men who reconcile gainful employment with elderly care, and we include the company level - a level of analysis often neglected in traditional theoretical approaches and typologies of comparative welfare state research. In Germany, during the last decade, the share of sons who are responsible for taking care of their elderly relatives has remarkably increased. In our qualitative research, we carried out comparative case studies in eleven German companies. We conducted around 60 interviews with male employees caring for an elderly relative, as well as with members of the works councils and human resources departments in different kinds of companies. We analysed which familial, social, professional, legal as well as occupational resources are central for these men, how they cope with reconciling work and care, and which gaps in the welfare system they identify. Interestingly, the overwhelming majority of the caring sons claim not to have problems in reconciling work and care, although they spend significant time on caring. In this paper we try to explain this pattern by looking at their typical care arrangements. We found that while women tend to organise employment around care, men rather seem to organise care around their employment. Given the feminist critique of the "adult worker model" this is an interesting result and needs theoretical reflection. Do men have the solution to the care-blindness of the "adult worker model" without falling into the "cold modern model of care"? Which resources are mainly used in "adult worker care arrangements"? Where are the limits of the approach?}, language = {en} } @article{AuthLeiberLeitner2011, author = {Auth, Diana and Leiber, Simone and Leitner, Sigrid}, title = {Sozialpolitik als Instrument der Geschlechtergerechtigkeit}, series = {Gruppendynamik und Organisationsberatung}, volume = {42}, journal = {Gruppendynamik und Organisationsberatung}, number = {2}, publisher = {Springer}, doi = {10.1007/s11612-011-0147-6}, pages = {151 -- 162}, year = {2011}, language = {de} } @techreport{AuthBauerBestenlehneretal.2012, author = {Auth, Gunnar and Bauer, Hans-J{\"o}rg and Bestenlehner, Matthias and Felbecker, Heribert and Hartmann, Andreas and von der Heyde, Markus and Klapper, Frank and Lorenz, S{\"o}ren and Maly, Rudolf and Mohren, Henning and Peter, Gerhard and Prill, Torsten and Springer, G{\"u}nter and Weithofer, Irene}, title = {Treiben oder getrieben werden? For realtime computer applications such as games, it is essential to represent shadows as accurate as possible. Also, various tv stations work with virtual studio systems instead of real studio sets. Especially for those systems, a realistic impression of the rendered and mixed scene is important. One challenge, hence, is the creation of a natural shadow impression. This paper presents the results of an empirical study to compare the performance and quality of different shadow mapping methods. For this test, a prototype studio renderer was developed. A percentage closer filter (pcf) with a number of specific resolutions is used to minimize the aliasing issue. More advanced algorithms which generate smooth shadows like the percentage closer soft shadow (pcss) method as well as the variance shadow maps (vsm) method are analysed. Different open source apis are used to develop the virtual studio renderer, giving the benefit of permanent enhancement. The Ogre 3D graphic engine is used to implement the rendering system, benefiting from various functions and plugins. The transmission of the tracking data is accomplished with the vrpn server/client and the Intersense api. The different shadow algorithms are compared in a virtual studio environment which also casts real shadows and thus gives a chance for a direct comparison throughout the empirical user study. Condensing flow inside mini- and microchannels has been becoming a promising solution for refrigeration, HVAC, air-conditioning, heat pumps, heat pipes, and electronic cooling applications. In these applications, employing mini/microchannels in the condenser design results in the working fluid, generally refrigerant, undergoing a phase change inside the mini/microchannels. On the other hand, the reduction in the hydraulic diameter during condensation gives rise to different flow regimes and heat transfer mechanisms in the mini- and microchannels compared to the conventional channels. Therefore, the understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics during condensation of refrigerant inside mini- and microchannels has been gaining importance in terms of condenser design. This study presents a state-of-the-art review of condensation studies on refrigerants inside mini- and microchannels. The review includes experimental studies as well as correlation models, which are developed to predict condensation heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop. Data obtained from CFD simulations were used to develop new heat transfer and pressure drop correlations for the condensation flows of R600a and R290, which are climate-friendly refrigerants. Steady-state numerical simulations of condensation flow of refrigerants were carried out inside a single circular microchannel with diameters varying between 0.2 and 0.6 mm. The volume of fluid approach was used in the proposed model, calculating the interface phase change using the Lee model. The CFD simulation model was validated via a comparison of the simulation results with the experimental data available in the literature. It is found that the newly developed Nu number correlation shows a deviation, with an Ave-MAE of 11.16\%, compared to those obtained by CFD simulation. Similarly, the deviation between friction factors obtained by the newly proposed correlation and those obtained by CFD simulation is 20.81\% Ave-MAE. Widely recognized correlations that are applicable to the condensation of refrigerants within small-scale channels were also evaluated by comparing newly developed correlations. It is concluded that the newly proposed correlation has a higher accuracy in predicting the heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop. The disruption of this grid can be detected and messages with the positions are sent via usb to a connected computer. This system is quite robust in matters of ambient light insensitivity and also fast to calibrate. Unfortunately it is not created with the recognition of tangibles in mind and printed patterns can not be resolved. This article summarizes an attempt to create fiducials that are recognized by an infrared multi-touch frame as fingers. Those false fingers are checked by a software for known patterns. The previous measurements of other authors are taken as the basis for the problem formulation and validation, whereby the latter is performed by comparing the predicted sink velocities with those measured in an Owen tube. To enable a computational treatment, the measured shapes of the eggs are parametrized by idealizing them in terms of elementary geometric forms. As the egg shapes show a variation within each class, "mean" shapes are considered. The sink velocities are obtained through the computationally obtained drag coefficients. The latter are defined by means of steady-state calculations. Predicted sink velocities are compared with the measured ones. It is observed that the calculated values show a better agreement with the measurements, for ASC and TRI, compared to the theoretical sink values delivered by the Stokes theory. The focus is on the prediction of the so-called bottleneck phenomenon. The latter has been previously observed as a specific feature of the present flame class and has not yet been investigated computationally. In the configuration under consideration, the nozzle diameter is 0.5 mm and six cases with mean nozzle injection velocities (U) between 306 m/s and 561 m/s are considered. The flow in the nozzle lance is analyzed separately to obtain detailed inlet boundary conditions for the flame calculations. It is confirmed by calculation that the phenomenon is mainly determined by the transition to turbulence in the initial parts of the free jet. The transitional turbulence proves to be the biggest challenge in predicting this class of flames, as the generally available turbulence and turbulent combustion models reach the limits of their validity in transitional flows. In a Reynolds-Averaged Numerical Simulation framework, the Shear Stress Transport model is found to perform better than alternative two-equation models and is used as the turbulence model. By neglecting the interactions between the turbulence and chemistry (no-model approach), it is possible to predict the morphology of the bottleneck flame and its dependence on U qualitatively. However, the position of the bottleneck is overpredicted for U \< 561 m/s. The experimental flames in the considered U range are all attached to the nozzle. This is also predicted by the no-model approach. The Eddy Dissipation Concept (EDC) used as the turbulence combustion model predicts, however, lifted flames (with increasing lift-off height as U decreases). With the EDC, no bottleneck morphology is observed for U = 561 m/s. For lower U, the EDC results for the bottleneck position are generally closer to the measurements. A Eulerian-Lagrangian formulation is used to describe the two-phase flow. Turbulence is modelled within a RANS (Reynolds averaged numerical simulation) framework. Four turbulence viscosity- (TV) based models, namely the standard k-ε model, realizable k-ε model, renormalization group theory k-ε model, and the shear stress transport k-ω model are used. In addition, a Reynolds stress transport model (RSM) is employed. The models are assessed by comparing the predicted velocity fields with the measurements of other authors. In terms of overall average values, the agreement of the predictions to the measurements is observed to be within the range 20-40\%. A better performance of the RSM compared to the TV models is observed, with a nearly twice as better overall agreement to the experiments, particularly for the swirl velocity. In the second part of the investigation, the resolution of the discrete particle phase in modelling the turbulent particle dispersion (TPD) and particle size distribution (SD) is investigated. Using the discrete random walk model for the TPD, it is shown that even five random walks are sufficient for an accuracy that is quite high, with a less than 1\% mean deviation from the solution obtained by thirty random walks. The approximation of the measured SD is determined by a continuous Rosin-Rammler distribution function, and inaccuracies that can occur in its subsequent discretization are demonstrated and discussed. An investigation on the resolution of the SD by discrete particle size classes (SC) indicates that 12 SC are required for an accuracy with a less than 1\% mean deviation from the solution with 18 SC. Although these numbers may not necessarily be claimed to be sufficiently universal, they may serve as guidance, at least for SD with similar characteristics}, language = {en} } @article{BenimCanalBoke2022, author = {Benim, Ali Cemal and Canal, Cansu Deniz and Boke, Yakup Erhan}, title = {Computational investigation of oxy-combustion of pulverized coal and biomass in a swirl burner}, series = {Energy}, volume = {238}, journal = {Energy}, number = {C}, publisher = {Elsevier}, issn = {0360-5442}, doi = {10.1016/j.energy.2021.121852}, year = {2022}, language = {en} } @article{BenimDiederich2019, author = {Benim, Ali Cemal and Diederich, Michael}, title = {Prediction of Roughness Effects on Wind Turbine Aerodynamics}, series = {E3S Web of Conferences}, volume = {128}, journal = {E3S Web of Conferences}, publisher = {edp sciences}, issn = {2267-1242}, doi = {10.1051/e3sconf/201912809004}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:hbz:due62-opus-27775}, year = {2019}, language = {en} }
