While the formation of the lamellipodium is increasingly well understood, organizational principles underlying the emergence of the lamellum are just beginning to be unraveled. We report here on a 1D mathematical model which describes the reaction-diffusion processes of a polarized actin network in steady state, and reproduces essential characteristics of the lamellipodium-lamellum system. We observe a steep gradient in filament lengths at the protruding edge, a local depolymerization maximum a few microns behind the edge, as well as a differential dominance of the network destabilizer ADF/cofilin and the stabilizer tropomyosin. We identify simple and robust organizational principles giving rise to the derived network characteristics, uncoupled from the specifics of any molecular implementation, and thus plausibly valid across cell types. An analysis of network length dependence on physico-chemical system parameters implies that to limit array treadmilling to cellular dimensions, network growth has to be truncated by mechanisms other than aging-induced depolymerization, e.g., by myosin-associated network dissociation at the transition to the cell body. Our work contributes to the analytical understanding of the cytoskeletal extension's bisection into lamellipodium and lamellum and sheds light on how cells organize their molecular machinery to achieve motility.}, language = {en} } @article{JohanningBraunEiteneueretal.2011, author = {Johanning, M. and Braun, Alexander and Eiteneuer, D. and Paape, C. and Balzer, C. and Neuhauser, W. and Wunderlich, C.}, title = {Resonance-enhanced isotope-selective photoionization of YbI for ion trap loading}, series = {Applied Physics B}, volume = {103}, journal = {Applied Physics B}, number = {2}, publisher = {Springer Nature}, issn = {1432-0649}, doi = {10.1007/s00340-011-4502-7}, pages = {327 -- 338}, year = {2011}, language = {en} } @misc{OPUS4-2236, title = {Public Service Broadcasting: A German-Ukrainian Exchange of Opinions}, volume = {K{\"o}lner Schriften zur Medien{\"o}konomie}, editor = {Khabyuk, Olexiy and Kops, Manfred}, publisher = {Lit-Verlag}, address = {Berlin}, isbn = {978-3-643-80094-7}, year = {2011}, language = {de} } @incollection{SteffensKueppersSkoda2011, author = {Steffens, Jochen and K{\"u}ppers, Thomas and Skoda, Sabrina}, title = {Psychologische Einflussfaktoren bei der Beurteilung des Innenger{\"a}usches von Elektrofahrzeugen}, series = {5. This includes both the creative design process and the development of suitable methods for the evaluation of target sounds by trial participants. The main difference between e-car sound surveys and those carried out on familiar sound categories is the potential consumer's lack of experience with electric vehicles. Thus the consumer has no, or very unspecific, expectations in this regard. Several studies have consequently shown that many subjects have to construct their personal frame of reference for evaluation within the listening experiment. However, this is possibly at odds with experience-based expectations relating to the sounds of conventional combustion engines. The result is a conflict of objectives between the traditional and the modern, familiarity and strangeness and not least between driving freedom and ecological awareness. In this context, the authenticity of the sound and the subjective interpretability of the sound information also appear as moderator variables. Moreover, associations with other vehicle categories, for example streetcars, also influence the perceived sound quality. In the course of this contribution, these factors will be expounded and their influence on the evaluation of interior noise discussed.}, language = {en} } @incollection{Khabyuk2011, author = {Khabyuk, Olexiy}, title = {Protecting Public Service Broadcasting from State Intervention}, series = {Public Service Broadcasting: A German-Ukrainian Exchange of Opinions}, booktitle = {Public Service Broadcasting: A German-Ukrainian Exchange of Opinions}, editor = {Khabyuk, Olexiy}, publisher = {Lit-Verlag}, address = {Berlin}, isbn = {978-3-643-80094-7}, pages = {67 -- 74}, year = {2011}, language = {en} } @incollection{MusallVoss2011, author = {Musall, Eike and Voss, Karsten}, title = {Projekte und ihre Merkmale im {\"U}berblich - Teil 2}, series = {Nullenergiegeb{\"a}ude}, booktitle = {Nullenergiegeb{\"a}ude}, editor = {Voss, Karsten and Musall, Eike}, publisher = {Detail, Institut f{\"u}r internationale Architektur-Dokumentation}, address = {M{\"u}nchen}, isbn = {978-3-920034-50-8}, pages = {114 -- 119}, year = {2011}, language = {de} } @incollection{MusallVoss2011, author = {Musall, Eike and Voss, Karsten}, title = {Projekte und ihre Merkmale im {\"U}berblich - Teil 1}, series = {Nullenergiegeb{\"a}ude}, booktitle = {Nullenergiegeb{\"a}ude}, editor = {Voss, Karsten and Musall, Eike}, publisher = {Detail, Institut f{\"u}r internationale Architektur-Dokumentation}, address = {M{\"u}nchen}, isbn = {978-3-920034-50-8}, pages = {50 -- 55}, year = {2011}, language = {de} } @incollection{MusallVoss2011, author = {Musall, Eike and Voss, Karsten}, title = {Plusenergiesiedlung: Freiburg, D 2006}, series = {Nullenergiegeb{\"a}ude}, booktitle = {Nullenergiegeb{\"a}ude}, editor = {Voss, Karsten and Musall, Eike}, publisher = {Detail, Institut f{\"u}r internationale Architektur-Dokumentation}, address = {M{\"u}nchen}, isbn = {978-3-920034-50-8}, pages = {94 -- 99}, year = {2011}, language = {de} } @incollection{ZimmermannCelikIwanskietal.2011, author = {Zimmermann, Peter and {\c{C}}elik, Fatma and Iwanski, Alexandra and Mohr, C. and Neumann, Anna}, title = {Pers{\"o}nlichkeitsunterschiede und ihre Auswirkungen im schulischen Kontext}, series = {Verschiedenheit als Diskurs}, booktitle = {Verschiedenheit als Diskurs}, editor = {Renate, Walthes and Renate, Hinz}, publisher = {Narr Francke Attempto}, address = {T{\"u}bingen}, isbn = {978-3-7720-8401-0}, pages = {151 -- 162}, year = {2011}, language = {de} }
