A key challenge lies in recycling short glass fibers and processing them into high-performance semi-finished products. This study investigates the roller carding process and analyzes motor current data to understand fiber transfer mechanisms. The results reveal that increased production rates lead to a drive effect, where the main drum pushes subsequent rollers forward, decreasing their current consumption. Additionally, fiber composition further influenced this drive effect and simultaneously emerged as the dominant factor in determining maximum tensile strength. Variations in roller linear speeds showed no significant improvement in tensile strength across any fiber type, including recycled fiber. Moreover, filtered motor current data provided insights into fiber transfer behavior, enabling differentiation between fiber compositions and production rate levels.
