Evaluation des Informationsgehalts von Outdoor-Tourenportalen hinsichtlich naturschutzfachlicher Aspekte in Nationalparks am Beispiel des Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald
Evaluation of the information value of outdoor route planners in regard to nature conservation in national parks using the example of the Bavarian Forest National Park
- Aim of this bachelor thesis was to evaluate the information value of outdoor route planners in regard to nature conservation in national parks using the example of the Bavarian Forest National Park. The Internet in general and outdoor route planners are gaining more importance as sources of information for the visit of a national park. However, the content and the information on these platforms usually do not originate from the national parks. This prompts the question if and in what way information relevant to nature protection in national parks is available on these platforms. Currently there is only little published research regarding this topic. To close this gap in research the description texts of a total of 360 tours on four outdoor route planners were evaluated in regard to information relevant in a nature protection context. The evaluation criteria were developed through literature research and expert discussions. To analyze the description texts of the tours the qualitative content analysis theory of Mayring (2015) was used. The evaluation of the tours showed that the information value of the platforms in regard to nature protection currently is mostly bad. Differences can be seen between professionally authored content and user generated content, which on average performed worse. The results of this thesis are intended to serve national parks as well as operators of outdoor route planners as a basis to assess the need for action and to find suitable solutions to improve the information quality of the platforms in regard to nature protection.
