Help
How do I find what I am looking for?
The repository offers 3 different search entries.
Simple search
The search slot on the homepage allows a simple search that searches through several search fields. Multiple search words are automatically linked with AND; therefore, entering several search words will give you a more accurate search result. You can additionally model the hit list with search operators (see below).
Advanced search
In the advanced search, various search fields are available, such as author(s), title(s), and year(s). The different search fields are automatically linked with AND. Boolean operators can also be used within a search field (see below).
Browsing
The browse function offers the possibility to search the repository by categories. For example, you can display all publications of a faculty / institute / institution, a person, or search for a specific document type.
Tips for a targeted search query
The Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT
AND: The document must contain all of the search terms entered.
profit AND gain finds all documents that contain both the search term profit and the search term gain.
OR: Only one of the search terms must occur in the document. This function extends the search range and is useful if different terms exist for a topic.
Sales OR Revenue finds all documents that contain either the search term Sales or the search term revenue or both search terms.
NOT: In documents in which one search term occurs, the other must not occur. This function has an exclusionary effect and can be used to limit the number of hits.
Heel NOT Shoes finds all documents in which the search term heel, but not the search term shoes
Wildcards
You can use * and ? as wildcards to extend a search query or if you are unsure about the spelling.
child* finds children, childhood, childcare and childish
wom?en finds woman and women
Phrase search
You can use double quotes (") to search for word sequences.
"Artificial intelligence" will only find matches that contain both artificial and intelligence in that order and spelling
Filters
To further narrow down your hit list, use the filter options to the left of the hit list. For example, you could filter by documents with full text, by language, or by author.
