TY - THES A1 - Peter, Katrin T1 - Development of a concept based on a cultural analysis to ease international collaboration at the working space in tourism industry BT - Analysis based on the tourism industry in Italy and Greece in comparison to the German-speaking countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland N2 - This thesis focuses on the difficulties in international collaboration at the workplace in the tourism industry. Therefore, this thesis provides a theoretical basis of the components of the Tourism Industry, Communication and Cultural Analysis Tools. To elaborate possible conflicts in collaboration, cultural characteristics of the Mediterranean Countries Italy and Greece are analysed and compared to the characteristics of the DACH-States Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Based on the analysis and the depiction of possible conflicts in collaboration, this paper answers the research questions “What concept brings advantages for intercultural communication in tourism industry?” and “How can communication in the tourism industry be adapted to lead to a better understanding between employees?” The content of the proposed concept is to educate employees in cultural trainings about different communication and language, stereotypes, behaviour types and cultures` values and beliefs. The concept also includes support of information exchange to reduce uncertainties in communication and monitoring to measure the development of the international collaboration. Further epidemic research could investigate the permanence of changes in workplace communication in the Tourism industry towards digitalisation caused by Covid-19.
