Recent approaches are based on multi-modal motion prediction, which requires the assignment of a probability score to each of the multiple predicted motion hypotheses. However, there is a lack of ground truth for this probability score in the existing datasets. This implies that current Machine Learning (ML) models evaluate the multiple predictions by comparing them with the single real trajectory labeled in the dataset. In this work, a novel data-based method named Probabilistic Traffic Motion Labeling (PROMOTING) is introduced in order to (a) generate probable future routes and (b) estimate their probabilities. PROMOTING is presented with the focus on urban intersections. The generation of probable future routes is (a) based on a real traffic dataset and consists of two steps: first, a clustering of intersections with similar road topology, and second, a clustering of similar routes that are driven in each cluster from the first step. The estimation of the route probabilities is (b) based on a frequentist approach that considers how traffic participants will move in the future given their motion history. PROMOTING is evaluated with the publicly available Lyft database. The results show that PROMOTING is an appropriate approach to estimate the probabilities of the future motion of traffic participants in urban intersections. In this regard, PROMOTING can be used as a labeling approach for the generation of a labeled dataset that provides a probability score for probable future routes. Such a labeled dataset currently does not exist and would be highly valuable for ML approaches with the task of multi-modal motion prediction. Participants of a user study (n = 24) customized two modes of content presentation (multiple content-specific windows vs. one main window), and could freely adjust visual parameters for these content windows using a simulated "ideal" windshield display in a virtual reality driving simulator. We found that user preferences differ with respect to contextual aspects. However, they do not show the full potential of using them as a supplement to public transport, since single-occupancy registration of the vehicles usually allows only slow speeds and also requires a substitute driver on board. In our study, we aim to (1) examine the status quo of its user acceptance and (2) identify the roles of the operators and their tasks in automated urban shuttle buses. We conducted a mixed-method study including in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and in-the-field observations visiting pilot projects of the two most widespread pilot projects on German streets. Our results uncover the multiple roles and tasks the human operators currently assume. Furthermore, we developed design approaches for a digital companion substituting the operator in a long run and evaluated these concepts. A remote operator or a hologram were preferred solutions and we propose further design requirements for such companions. This paper presents the lessons learned that derived from the analysis of the results after evaluating the blended training according to the participants', subject matter experts', and trainer's perspectives. Prior to the training, Pourtoulidou and Frey analyzed the demands of aerospace companies and the labor market in order to develop this introductory training [1]. The classroom-based training was developed, implemented and evaluated in 2018/2019. Utilizing this evaluation, the blended training consisted of an online phase, which lasted six months and provided access to lecture videos, literature material, quizzes, forums and virtual meetings over the Moodle platform. In the middle of the online phase, a face-to-face session took place in October 2021 in which the participants worked with practical applications and associated with subject matter experts operating directly in industrial projects. The lessons learned focus on the training development for employees' blended courses and on the specific limitations resulting from developing a joint training for entry-level aerospace engineers. Identifying a small and informative subset of features is their main ingredient. However, the exponential search space of feature subsets and the heuristic nature of selection algorithms limit the coverage of these analyses, even for low-dimensional datasets. We present methods for reducing the computational complexity of feature selection criteria allowing for higher efficiency and coverage of screenings. We achieve this by reducing the preparation costs of high-dimensional subsets O(nm2) to those of one-dimensional ones O(m2). Our methods are based on a tight interaction between a parallelizable cross-validation traversal strategy and distance-based classification algorithms and can be used with any product distance or kernel. We evaluate the traversal strategy exemplarily in exhaustive feature subset selection experiments (perfect coverage). Its runtime, fitness landscape, and predictive performance are analyzed on publicly available datasets. Molecular pathways involved in PanNETs development are still not elucidated, and specific biomarkers are missing. Moreover, the heterogeneity of PanNETs makes their treatment challenging and most approved targeted therapeutic options for PanNETs lack objective responses. Here, we applied a systems biology approach integrating dynamic modeling strategies, foreign classifier tailored approaches, and patient expression profiles to predict PanNETs progression as well as resistance mechanisms to clinically approved treatments such as the mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) inhibitors. We set up a model able to represent frequently reported PanNETs drivers in patient cohorts, such as Menin-1 (MEN1), Death domain associated protein (DAXX), Tuberous Sclerosis (TSC), as well as wild-type tumors. Model-based simulations suggested drivers of cancer progression as both first and second hits after MEN1 loss. In addition, we could predict the benefit of mTORC1 inhibitors on differentially mutated cohorts and hypothesize resistance mechanisms. Our approach sheds light on a more personalized prediction and treatment of PanNET mutant phenotypes.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{KruegerLausser2023, author = {Kr{\"u}ger, Max and Lausser, Ludwig}, title = {Identifying Key Features in Aggregated Real-Life AIS-Messages for Classification of Maritime Vessels by Random Forests}, booktitle = {2023 26th International Conference on Information Fusion (FUSION)}, publisher = {IEEE}, address = {Piscataway}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.23919/FUSION52260.2023.10224109}, year = {2023}, language = {en} } @inbook{QuadfliedNeuburgNestler2022, author = {Quadflied, Sven and Neuburg, Klaus and Nestler, Simon}, title = {(Dis)obeying Algorithms? The advent of automated driving will drive this trend even further. Today, accident investigation, as well as warranty claim analysis, need to take into consideration an analysis of the rapidly increasing proportion of software and security based implementations as part of modern vehicles, the so-called digital forensics. This paper evaluates the general feasibility of digital forensics on a state-of-the-art vehicle. To do so, we analyzed current digital forensics techniques on a state-of-the-art vehicle to constitute gaps in the automotive forensics process used on in-vehicle systems. We present a general process for automotive forensics to close existing gaps and implemented it on a state-of-the-art vehicle in an in-vehicle device manipulation scenario. The implementation uses the on-board diagnostics interface, the diagnostics over internet protocol, as well as the unified diagnostic services for communication. Our implementation requires automotive Ethernet at the diagnostic interface. Our research shows future directions for efficient automotive forensic as well as the exemplary feasibility of automotive forensic analysis on state-of-the-art vehicles without the need for additional invehicle components such as intrusion detection systems or event data recorders.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{deMeerWaedtRennochetal.2021, author = {de Meer, Jan and Waedt, Karl and Rennoch, Axel and Hof, Hans-Joachim}, title = {The 5th GI/ACM Workshop 2020 scope and draft programme on standardization of secure and safe smart manufacturing systems with respect to IEC 62443 IACS}, volume = {2021}, booktitle = {Lecture Notes in Informatics (LNI): Proceedings}, number = {Volume P-307}, publisher = {Gesellschaft f{\"u}r Informatik e.V.}, address = {Bonn}, isbn = {978-3-88579-701-2}, issn = {1617-5468}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.18420/inf2020_26}, pages = {283 -- 287}, year = {2021}, abstract = {The 5th GI/ACM Workshop Programme on Standardization of Secure and Safe Production within Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) took place virtually at September 28, 2020 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) that hosted the 50th GI's yearly assembly (GI Informatik 2020 Jahrestagung).}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{KendrickFrohnmaierGeorges2021, author = {Kendrick, Caroline and Frohnmaier, Mariano and Georges, Munir}, title = {Audio-Visual Recipe Guidance for Smart Kitchen Devices}, booktitle = {ICNLSP 2021: Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Natural Language and Speech Processing}, publisher = {ACL}, address = {Stroudsburg}, isbn = {978-1-955917-18-6}, doi = {https://aclanthology.org/2021.icnlsp-1.30}, pages = {257 -- 261}, year = {2021}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{RieglerRienerHolzmann2022, author = {Riegler, Andreas and Riener, Andreas and Holzmann, Clemens}, title = {Content presentation on 3D augmented reality windshield displays in the context of automated driving}, booktitle = {2022 IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces (VR)}, publisher = {IEEE}, address = {Piscataway, NJ}, isbn = {978-1-6654-9617-9}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.1109/VR51125.2022.00074}, pages = {543 -- 552}, year = {2022}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{SchartmuellerRiener2022, author = {Schartm{\"u}ller, Clemens and Riener, Andreas}, title = {Multimodal error correction for speech-to-text in a mobile office automated vehicle: results from a remote study}, booktitle = {IUI'22: 27th International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces}, publisher = {ACM}, address = {New York}, isbn = {978-1-4503-9144-3}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.1145/3490099.3511131}, pages = {496 -- 505}, year = {2022}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{vonSawitzkyGrauschopfRiener2022, author = {von Sawitzky, Tamara and Grauschopf, Thomas and Riener, Andreas}, title = {Hazard notifications for cyclists: comparison of awareness message modalities in a mixed reality study}, booktitle = {IUI '22: 27th International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces}, publisher = {ACM}, address = {New York}, isbn = {978-1-4503-9144-3}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.1145/3490099.3511127}, pages = {310 -- 322}, year = {2022}, language = {en} } @article{FunkDrechslerPeintnerRewayetal.2022, author = {Funk Drechsler, Maikol and Peintner, Jakob and Reway, Fabio and Seifert, Georg and Riener, Andreas and Huber, Werner}, title = {MiRE, A Mixed Reality Environment for Testing of Automated Driving Functions}, volume = {71}, journal = {IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology}, number = {4}, publisher = {IEEE}, address = {New York}, issn = {0018-9545}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.1109/TVT.2022.3160353}, pages = {3443 -- 3456}, year = {2022}, language = {en} } @unpublished{BalajiBliesGoerietal.2021, author = {Balaji, Thangapavithraa and Blies, Patrick and G{\"o}ri, Georg and Mitsch, Raphael and Wasserer, Marcel and Sch{\"o}n, Torsten}, title = {Temporally coherent video anonymization through GAN inpainting}, publisher = {arXiv}, address = {Ithaca}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2106.02328}, year = {2021}, language = {en} } @unpublished{LeinenCozzolinoSchoen2021, author = {Leinen, Fabian and Cozzolino, Vittorio and Sch{\"o}n, Torsten}, title = {VolNet: Estimating Human Body Part Volumes from a Single RGB Image}, publisher = {arXiv}, address = {Ithaca}, doi = {https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2107.02259}, year = {2021}, language = {en} } @inbook{Schoen2022, author = {Sch{\"o}n, Torsten}, title = {Artificial Intelligence Inspired by Human Learning}, booktitle = {AI. At work and at school, devices such as calculators, tablet computers, mobile phones, and different electronic measurement devices, support our work and learning. Building on all of these technological advancements will be novel human-computer interaction techniques that will allow us to use the devices for work and play in a broad set of circumstances, from riding in automated vehicles, to exploring museums, to walking on the street, to playing with our kids on the beach. The central underlying question Dagstuhl seminar 21232 wanted to address is, "how will we interact with the ubiquitous devices of our near (and not-so-near) future?" To date, there are a number of interaction techniques that show significant promise, including speech, augmented reality, tangible objects, gesture, multitouch screens, as well as simple keyboards and non-touch displays. But, before we address technologies to use, we must first identify the economic and broad societal driving forces that will create the need for interaction with our ubiquitous computing devices. From the economic point of view worker well-being is one such driving force; another one is the need to improve the productivity of workers and firms; yet another is the need to provide access to continuous education to a changing workforce. From the broad perspective of our society, it is important for us to understand how ubiquitous technologies can support living a meaningful and fulfilling life, from childhood to adulthood.
