As a result, companies are coming under increasing pressure to reduce the negative ecological impact of their business activities in the interests of sustainability. At the same time, the pillar of social sustainability is currently neglected. The aim of this thesis is the development of approaches for improving the social sustainability dimension in transport logistics. The thesis therefore deals on the one hand with the research question of how truck drivers perceive the reality of work in transport logistics in Germany. On the other hand, the research question is addressed as to how the social sustainability in transport logistics in Germany can be improved according to the current state of affairs. To this end, the current status is elaborated with the help of a literature analysis. The findings obtained are supplemented with an empirical study in the form of an expert interview. During the interview, a German-socialized truck driver from the company Thoma Transport GmbH is interviewed. Based on the identified problems, recommended actions for politics, the media and society are developed. The social dimension of sustainability can be improved by campaigns that express gratitude for the truck drivers and raise society's awareness of the systemic relevance of road freight transport. Furthermore, greater flexibility and a shorter time to return home for drivers are needed to improve working conditions. In addition, access to clean sanitary facilities should become free of charge and the capacity of employees at loading and unloading ramps should be increased. Another recommendation for action is to increase income and meal allowances. In addition, controls by the "Bundesamt f{\"u}r G{\"u}terverkehr" should be tightened and stricter cabotage regulations should be introduced. Further improvement can be achieved by reducing the parking space shortage by increasing the budget needed for an expansion of the infrastructure. In order to cope with the high workload and compensate for the shortage of truck drivers, the last measure recommended is to facilitate and promote the migration of professional drivers. In conclusion, a rethink in politics, industry and society is needed to improve the social dimension of sustainability in the long term.}, language = {en} }
