Apprehensions regarding artificial intelligence developments, the future of work, or the falling behind of older generations in the use of digital technology are just a few examples. These aspects can be grouped under a phenomenon known as technophobia. In this work, the question was raised concerning how this development should be seen today and whether technophobia existed in the past as well. To answer the question of how technophobia has evolved from its origins to the characteristics of today's phenomenon, an in-depth literature review was conducted. This analysis included identifying seven retrospective turning points in the relationship between people and technology, as well as describing five clusters of the most prevalent technophobic characteristics of today. The work suggests that technophobia is a changing phenomenon that goes hand in hand with technological and social progress, and in some cases parallels to past developments can still be seen in its current phenomena. In the public interest, addressing technophobia could help improve the relationship between people and technology. The goal of this work is therefore to provide an overview of negative attitude towards technology and provide a basis for future research on this subject.}, language = {en} }
