This increase in product offerings has a direct impact on the logistics of distribution companies seeking to reach all their customers. In addition to the large supermarkets found in cities, countries like Ecuador have traditional businesses known as neighborhood stores or nanostores in their market. In order to learn about the particular characteristics of these businesses in an emerging economy like Ecuador, several nanostores owners were interviewed, who provided first-hand insights. In addition, trade, and distribution experts from three of the largest distribution companies in Ecuador were interviewed, such as Nestle, Pronaca and Arca Coca-Cola, in order to learn about the challenges of serving this market. Finally, through the analysis of an empirical study previously carried out by experts in retail and logistics, the way in which large retailers operate in the German food and beverage market was investigated.}, language = {en} }
