However, a systematic literature search carried out for the purpose of finding a topic for this master's thesis only confirms this picture to a limited extent: While there is a vast amount of literature on agile methods in project management in general, there is a downright research gap in the more specific field of agile methods in the project management of small and medium sized enterprises (short: SMEs). This insight was taken as an opportunity to bring some light into the dark-ness and to try to fill the existing research gap by attempting to develop a framework for the implementation and utilization of agile methods in the project management of SMEs. In order to create a knowledge base, the theoretical foundation was formed at the very beginning, with a view to both agile project management and SMEs. Subsequently, five specific research questions were defined and a suitable research design was created. In a first round of interviews, twelve problem-centred interviews were conducted with inter-view participants who had experience in the context of agile methods in the project man-agement of SMEs and could report on it. The initial framework based on the resulting findings was then evaluated by five experts in a second round of interviews. After the evaluation of the expert consultation, the initial framework was then modified on the basis of the experts' responses and the final framework was developed. The final framework provides information on what is happening when an agile method is being implemented and later used in the project management of a SME. Therewith, it helps SMEs who are about to introduce an agile method themselves in that they can derive important infor-mation, reference points and recommendations for action from it. For academia, the framework gives rise to further research topics that should be addressed.}, subject = {Projektmanagement}, language = {en} } @article{TimingerSchmidtnerReiche2021, author = {Timinger, Holger and Schmidtner, Markus and Reiche, Finn}, title = {Comparison of different Standards and Norms in Project Management}, series = {Research Notes on Data and Process Science}, journal = {Research Notes on Data and Process Science}, number = {2}, issn = {2702-508X}, doi = {10.5281/zenodo.5801844}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:bvb:860-opus4-3065}, pages = {1 -- 7}, year = {2021}, abstract = {Successful project management requires the use of process models that meet the requirements of the respective project context. Such process models can be derived from standards and norms in project management. During the 20th century, traditional, plan-based standards and norms were published by various international organizations such as the Project Management Institute or the International Project Management Association. Today, the variety of approaches includes not only the traditional ones, but also agile project management and hybrid combinations. In this paper, important standards and norms are summarized and compared. Strategies in training, professional application and the design of new procedural models can be derived from the results.}, subject = {Projektmanagement}, language = {en} } @article{DoeringSchmidtnerMaerzetal.2020, author = {Doering, Claudia and Schmidtner, Markus and Maerz, Johanna and Mueller, Vanessa and Timinger, Holger}, title = {Agile working during COVID-19 pandemic}, series = {Research Notes on Data and Process Science}, volume = {2020}, journal = {Research Notes on Data and Process Science}, number = {1}, editor = {Timinger, Holger and Martens, Maren and Khelil, Abdelmajid and Riemenschneider, Mona}, issn = {2702-508X}, doi = {10.5281/zenodo.5801219}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:bvb:860-opus4-2627}, pages = {1 -- 27}, year = {2020}, abstract = {In this article, we present the results of a recent study, in which the impact of the pandemic on agile working is examined. Based on these results, we derive a scenario of the future of agile working in a post COVID-19 world. The study comprises an online survey in Germany. More than 170 people working in different job positions and from different branches and companies participated. The study reveals that the pandemic has significantly changed the way of working.
