For immediate feedback after a change in the program code, TDT AG uses a testsystem that automatically performs tests via the command line on various OpenWRT-based routers developed by the company. The aim of this work is to extend the existing system so that the web interfaces of the routers can also be tested automatically. To determine the necessary requirements for this, interviews were conducted with experts from TDT AG. This resulted in the focus being on functional testing. Additionally, a tool that can automatically test web interfaces has to be compatible with the Robot Framework used by the company. For this reason, further investigation was limited to the tools Selenium and Playwright. In a direct comparison of the two candidates regarding to the criteria from the interviews, Playwright appeared to be the better candidate due to its ability to test a WebKit-based browser, which is not possible with Selenium in the Linux development environment of TDT AG. Playwright was integrated into the company's automated testsystem.
