What are the advantages of a publication in h_docs?
Dissemination
Electronic publications are accessible worldwide and can be used at any time and free of charge. Online publication according to the principle of Open Access is therefore recommended by the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, as well as by the German Research Foundation and the German Rectors' Conference.
Proof
Electronic publications can be searched quickly and easily via the Internet. In addition, they can be found in the catalogue of the university library, in the catalogue of the Hessian library network, in scientific search engines such as BASE and in national and international databases. Of course, you can also use the integrated search options in OPUS.
Archiving and long-term availability
Electronic publications are permanently stored on h_docs as PDF files. We register a Uniform Resource Name (URN) for your publication with the German National Library and a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) with the TIB - the Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology. At this address, your publication is permanently accessible so that it can be cited without any problems. In addition, dissertations are forwarded to the archive server of the German National Library and archived there for the long term.
Saving time and money
The service is free of charge for you. Your document will be published online after a short check by university library staff and is immediately citable.
Higher citation rate
In the meantime, various studies have shown that Open Access publications are cited with a similar frequency as publications published in printed form. Studies on the topic of "impact analysis" can be found at "The Open Citation Project - Reference Linking and Citation Analysis for Open Archives" (opcit.eprints.org/oacitation-biblio.html).
