Previous research observed altered neural responses to experimentally induced social exclusion (i.e., Cyberball game) in patients with AD. In addition, inflammation has been associated with both social behaviours and AD. Our study aimed to investigate the dynamic behavioural response and the inflammatory effects of social exclusion in male patients with a history of AD. To this end, we analysed dynamic changes in ball tossing during a partial exclusion Cyberball game and the cytokine interleukin (IL)-1b in saliva in 31 male patients who had a history of AD and 29 gender-matched healthy controls without AD. Participants were included in the first 2 min of the Cyberball game and then excluded by one of the two co-players in the proceeding 5 min. Saliva was collected three times: one before and two after the Cyberball game. Across groups, participants passed the ball more often to the excluder during the partial exclusion period. Analysis using piece-wise linear mixed models showed that patients rapidly increased ball tosses to the excluder upon exclusion, which lasted to the late response phase, whereas the early behavioural response to exclusion took longer for controls. There was no significant change of salivary IL-1b level to exclusion in either patients or controls. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and tolerability of a new VR-CE paradigm. On an explorative basis, factors influencing the induction of craving were examined. This single-arm monocentric clinical study included n = 21 patients with AD in inpatient rehabilitation treatment, that completed one VR-CE session including confrontation with alcohol-associated stimuli. Measurements of subjective craving before, during and after exposure, affective states, VR side effects as cybersickness and the sense of presence in VR were conducted. Craving levels during and directly after VR-CE were significantly higher than before the intervention. Craving levels 20 min after VR-CE did not significantly differ compared to those before VR-CE. Patients described a pronounced sense of presence and only mild symptoms of cybersickness. Craving was significantly correlated with cybersickness. While positive affect decreased throughout the VR exposure, negative affect did not differ significantly in pre-post-comparisons. This study shows that craving induction through our VR-CE paradigm is feasible and well-tolerated by patients with AD in long-term rehabilitation. The Czech Technical University - together with other collaborating institutes - studied innovative Lobster Eye (LE) and Kirkpatrick-Baez (KB) X-ray modules, based on the Multi Foil Optics technology (MFO). In addition, two major events were organized, namely a students workshop in December 2023 and a summer school in May 2024. The KB optics represents a promising and cost effective alternative to the currently used Wolter I telescopes. The LE X-ray optics, based on the Schmidt design, has a wide field of view (FOV) with a short focal length, making it suitable for CubeSat application. Thereby the 2D LE optics consist of two orthogonal sub-modules of flat smooth reflecting foils, each sub-modules focuses in one direction. The advantage of such optics is that it preserves the angular resolution throughout the FOV even for off-axis points, as demonstrated by simulations and measurements. As an integral part of the museum, the R{\"o}Lab laboratory offers visitors the opportunity to gain practical experience in X-rays, optics and technology through own experiments. As part of a joint development project, students from Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences are currently designing a visitor experiment on astronomical X-ray optics for the museum´s R{\"o}ntgen laboratory. An optical set-up with visible light illustrates the focusing principle of X-ray telescopes, e. g. for wide-angle optics based on the lobster-eye principle. Display boards explain the optics of various types of telescopes with accompanying text and corresponding illustrations. Modern X-ray observatories such as CHANDRA, XMM-Newton and eROSITA are presented clearly. In der Stahlindustrie ist die Infrarottrocknung von ebenen Stahlband-Oberfl{\"a}chen ein bereits seit Jahren bew{\"a}hrtes Verfahren. Pulverlack-Beschichtungen werden jedoch oft auf komplexe Geometrien aufgetragen, bei denen eine Verschattung die Effizienz der Infrarot-Aush{\"a}rtung mindert. Die Anordnung der Infrarotstrahler in der reflektierenden Heizkammer, deren Geometrie und die Verweilzeit der Bauteile sind daher die Schl{\"u}ssel f{\"u}r erfolgreiche Prozesse. Zur Verfahrensoptimierung m{\"u}ssen zudem die optischen Parameter der Pulverlacke w{\"a}hrend des Prozesses bekannt sein, um die n{\"o}tige Strahlungsleistung an Bauteile und unterschiedliche Lacke anpassen zu k{\"o}nnen. Messungen in der NAPUBEST-Prototypanlage werden daher mit optischen Simulationen des Aufbaus abgeglichen, um die Simulationsparameter an die Messergebnisse anzupassen und damit die Grundlage f{\"u}r die Auslegung von industriellen Prozessen zu gew{\"a}hrleisten. The decomposition of liquid hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen gas, which ultimately generates thrust, can be achieved using noble metal catalysts from the platinoid group, such as platinum and iridium. This promotes the use of more environmentally friendly and less toxic propellants, such as H2O2, instead of hydrazine and nitrogen tetroxide (NTO). The optimization of coating structures with these catalytic materials is essential for future space applications, as it aims to extend the lifespan of catalyst materials and results in a better utilization of H2O2 in satellite engines. Therefore, different layer structures were deposited onto Duranit D99 pellets using a controlled magnetron sputtering process. Previous studies have shown that the used sputtering pressure has a strong influence on the structure of the deposited coatings [2][3]. Certain parameter combinations produce catalytic layers with rough textures and a highly porous microstructure, see figure 1 [1]. To improve the thermal and mechanical stability of the sputtered layers, thin adhesive layers of Titanium and Zirconium were applied beneath the catalytic layer. The pellets were then heated in an oven at 640°C for one minute to simulate the thermal effects experienced in a satellite engine during ignition. Following this, the catalytic performance of the pellets was tested in laboratory experiments using 30\% H2O2. Pellets with sputtered platinum as the catalytic coating delivered the best results. These coatings will be further evaluated in an engine test conducted at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). Hydrogen peroxide is also expected to play a crucial role in future lunar and Martian colonization efforts. Data from 5970 adults, including 950 patients with cardiogenic shock, 1946 patients with septic shock, and 3074 patients with sepsis, were extracted for this study. Of the original 51 variables included in the data records, 12 were selected for constructing the predictive model. The data were divided into training and validation sets at an 80:20 ratio, and the performance of the BNCs was evaluated and compared with that of other AI models, such as the one rule classifier (OneR), classification and regression tree (CART), and an artificial neural network (ANN), in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, and F1-score. The BNCs exhibited an accuracy of 87.6\% to 91.5\%. The CART model demonstrated a notable 91.6\% accuracy when only three decision levels were used, whereas the intricate ANN model reached 90.5\% accuracy. Both the BNCs and the CART model allowed clear interpretation of the predictions. Die Deutsche Bundesbank konnte in {\"a}hnlichen Krisen in den 1970er Jahren mit einer konsequenten Stabilit{\"a}tspolitik den Preisauftrieb deutlich st{\"a}rker und nachhaltiger bek{\"a}mpfen als die meisten anderen L{\"a}nder. In this paper, we propose a methodology based on machine and deep learning to classify patients with MDD and identify altered functional connectivity patterns from EEG data. We compare several connectivity metrics and machine learning algorithms. Complex network measures are used to identify structural brain abnormalities in MDD. Using Spearman correlation for network construction and the SVM classifier, we verify that it is possible to identify MDD patients with high accuracy, exceeding literature results. The SHAP (SHAPley Additive Explanations) summary plot highlights the importance of C4-F8 connections and also reveals dysfunction in certain brain areas and hyperconnectivity in others. Despite the lower performance of the complex network measures for the classification problem, assortativity was found to be a promising biomarker. The primary objectives have been twofold: firstly, to examine the reception of selected learning elements, which were conceptually outlined based on relevant literature, among the student body; and secondly, to investigate the efficacy of individualized adaptive learning paths. These paths were generated by employing a variety of algorithms to analyze students learning style tendencies, with a particular emphasis on adaptive navigational techniques. The used algorithms encompassed a modified version of a literature based adaptive mechanism, an Ant-Colony-Algorithm and a Genetic Algorithm, alongside a lecturer-recommended learning path for a non-adaptive comparison. While the system suggested suitable learning paths based on student data, it never forced the individuals to give up their self-directed learning. The evaluation criteria revolved around the evolution of student motivation, interest levels, and knowledge acquisition during the time they spent working in the system. The evaluation sought to facilitate comparative analyses and assess algorithmic fitness for proficient learning path generation. The methods included both quantitative and qualitative approaches to gather data, seeking to strike a balance between being student-friendly and scientifically informative. They ranged from Likert Scale self-assessments to screen and video observations with retrospective interviews. Since the purpose of adaptive learning systems is intertwined with personalized learning it seems imperative to already take the preferences and opinions of students into account while the system is still in development. This complexity underscores the challenge of evaluating such systems, as significant constraints on student choice - though simplifying evaluation - directly oppose the ethos of individualized, self-directed learning. Initial findings suggest that the underlying theoretical considerations on sequencing and structuring of learning elements are confirmed, coupled with providing adequate flexibility to meet diverse learning needs. Cross-site evaluation of the literature-based learning elements indicated a high comprehensibility and positive student ratings. While significant positive trends were observed regarding knowledge acquisition, they cannot be definitively attributed to a specific method of learning path generation. Motivation and interest analyses show no significant differences among learning path types, albeit heavily limited by sample size. Similarly, emotion measurements, though limited, hint at positive impacts from HASKI system use. Our objectives include identifying emotional states through surveys, pinpointing frequently selected emotion-descriptive words, analyzing survey results, and developing a Bayesian Network (BN) model for automatic emotional state analysis. This BN model aims to facilitate real-time interactions within an adaptive learning system by autonomously assessing students' emotions without direct educator intervention. We present findings from an emotion identification survey conducted among engineering students in an e-learning course provided in an adaptive learning environment. Practically, we plan to implement the BN model within the aforementioned environment to interact with students through real-time pop-up messages, identifying and responding to their emotional states. Its generic character structure allows for changes in the set of analyzed words, ensuring its broad applicability. The challenges of identifying emotions during different online learning activities and the question of the optimal word selection remain for future exploration.
