Companies have to account for the fact that any misconduct at a supplier's premises may have spillover effects that reach the manufacturer or retailer. Therefore, purchasing managers have to assure that their suppliers are compliant with sustainability standards. This, however, may induce higher purchasing costs and, as a consequence, force a trade-off between (short term) economic (i.e., purchasing cost reduction) and social/environmental sustainability criteria. How purchasing managers evaluate this trade-off is particularly interesting because they often receive performance-based salaries that incentivize the reduction of purchasing costs. Our paper sheds light on this trade-off by examining how much purchasing managers are willing to pay to assure compliance along different sustainability dimensions when selecting new suppliers in a mature market setting, namely Germany. Additionally, we identify potential (individual, professional, and organization-related) factors that may impact the purchasing managers' willingness to pay (WTP), and examine their effects. Among the most surprising findings, purchasing managers on average are willing to pay a price premium for manuals that demonstrate compliance with the United Nationals Global Compact (UNGC). Furthermore, the results show that this WTP is mostly influenced (negatively) by self-enhancement (on the individual level) and/or obedience to authority (on the organizational level), but the effects of company, affiliation with the UNGC, gender, or years of experience have no influence. The system was applied in a course for mechatronics students (2nd semester) and provided a variety of adaptive learning elements. HASKI generates individual learning paths with AI based on learning behavior and learning styles. It is designed to promote personalized, self-directed learning as support for blended learning scenarios. The method chosen for data collection is a qualitative content analysis based on exploratory interviews with a semi-structured set of questions. Four central analysis criteria were considered: acceptance and perception of the learning elements, integration into lectures and exercise sessions, didactic coherence, and suggestions for improvement. The results show that students prefer explanatory scripts, interactive tasks, and quiz elements that require a certain degree of reflection. In addition, the respondents are largely convinced of the integration into the seminar, as the HASKI system adequately guides them for what to prepare for. When it comes to embedding the system into lectures, especially in the form of question rotation in small groups, the feedback is ambivalent. Although the potential for in-depth learning was recognized, the low participation of fellow students was critically reflected upon. A particular difficulty mentioned was the lack of coordination between self-study and classroom attendance. While some participants saw this as a discrepancy of coherence, others viewed the adaptive system as a balancing factor. There was a desire for a clearer time structure and more in-depth materials that go beyond mere repetition. Overall, the findings provide initial indicators of successful aspects in the integration of adaptive systems into classroom teaching. Consequently, learning path evaluation should be automated, user-friendly, and precise. However, current research on this topic often emphasizes simulations, performance metrics, or mathematical models, without fully considering the broader, learner-centered aspects necessary for meaningful adaptation. The authors prior findings also indicate that approaches to assessing the suitability of learning paths must be optimized. To address these gaps, this paper presents a potential methodological approach for comprehensive learning path evaluation, aiming to enhance both the precision of adaptive learning systems and the overall learning experience. Three different algorithms, derived from learning style tendencies and a lecturer recommendation, were analyzed as an illustrative example, although the method itself is not constrained by the form or data basis of these algorithms. The adaptive learning system utilizes various measures to gauge the suitability of a learning path, all gathered through real-time learner feedback. These measures include the correlation between students' preferred path and each algorithm, referred to as it's fitness, the alignment between students' actual adherence to a generated path and their own perception of their study behavior as well as their satisfaction with the path, and the connection between algorithm fitness and both actual performance and perceived performance. To collect data, students were asked to create their own preferred learning paths by digitally arranging the provided learning elements after receiving an introduction to the respective categories. Once they had completed a topic with a generated learning path, they rated their satisfaction with it and indicated whether they had followed its sequence. They also estimated whether their knowledge level had changed. Learning analytics were then employed to compare these self-reports with students' actual study behavior. Performance was measured using a rating system, while Spearman's Rho and Kendall's Tau served as the main correlation metrics for data analysis. The results indicate that all three algorithms produce paths more closely aligned with students' preferred learning paths than the lecturer recommendation, although no single algorithm demonstrated clear dominance. Student satisfaction showed some correlation with the fitness of the generated learning path. Additionally, student ratings appeared to have a slight positive correlation with learning path fitness, whereas self-perceived performance showed no discernible difference. Analysis of the link between actual student behavior and their feedback suggested that students were not reliable in judging whether or not they had followed a learning path. These findings are consistent with the authors earlier work suggesting the potential effectiveness of the learning path algorithms examined, thus supporting this new methodological approach to analyzing learning paths. The Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) simulation is utilized to evaluate the correctness of BN predictions using evidence-based scenarios. Results demonstrate that the AutoML-enhanced DEC has outperformed traditional clustering approaches. The performance of the proposed BN model achieved an overall accuracy of 95.6\%, indicating its ability to understand the complex relationship of accidents causing congestion. Besides fine tracks, microelectronic circuits include wide contact pads, which leads to time-consuming processing with small laser spot sizes. The use of larger focal diameters, which results in wider lines and thus a higher metallization rate, is accompanied by a loss of structure resolution. We show the influence of focusing on the femtosecond reductive laser sintering of copper(II) oxide on cyclic olefin copolymers. While small focus diameters down to 23 µm provide high accuracy, increasing the laser power and the focus diameter up to 400 µm significantly accelerates the process, first by enlarging the line width and second by increasing the scanning speed due to the exposure time. Two-dimensional copper electrodes for 23 µm and 200 µm focal diameters were generated by hatching individual lines and compared with respect to their morphology. The enlarged spot can be used for high-speed generation of electrodes with a surface conductivity of 117 mΩ/sq. Reliable deposition at sub-millimeter scales remains challenging, especially when printing low-stiffness polymers such as polypropylene (PP), due to delayed solidification and viscoelastic effects. This study introduces a flow-rate-dependent analytical model to predict extrusion behavior, interfacial bonding, and surface morphology in self-supporting single-layer PP structures. To validate the model, surface roughness, material distribution, and intralayer bonding were quantified using spectral analysis, cross-sectional thickness measurements, and Abbott-Firestone curve evaluation. Results show that reducing the flow rate (relative to 100\% nominal flow through a 0.4 mm nozzle) to 40\% improves surface roughness (Ra) to below 20 m on average across all surfaces, with the lowest Ra of 4.52 ± 0.49 m observed at a 20\% flow rate on the top surfaces enclosing the cavity. The intralayer bonding between adjacent extruded lines increases up to 70\%, improving deposition uniformity. Nozzle-induced smoothing effects enhance surface quality at flow rates of 60\% or lower, while higher flow rates result in increased surface waviness and geometric irregularities. Transfer entropyemerged as the most effective connectivity metric, revealing altered brain connections in dystonia.Complex network measures outperformed traditional EEG features, highlighting the relevance offunctional connectivity. Resting-state EEG showed the highest classification performance for ULD,suggesting strong diagnostic potential. Conclusions: This study provides the first machine learning-based comparison between differenttypes of dystonia, introduces novel cervical dystonia EEG data, and yields medically interpretableinsights into altered brain connectivity. However, the physical deposition techniques, as vacuum-based sputtering, to produce B4C or amorphous coatings are usually difficult and highly costing. Polydopamine (PDA), a bio-polymer inspired by mussels, exhibits exceptional surface binding and it's nowadays a popular material used in surface engineering for multipurpose applications (Ryu, 2018). PDA thin film are typically produced in aqueous solution by the oxidative polymerization of dopamine, commonly known as one of the "hormones of happiness", resulting in nanometric PDA coating with tunable thickness and morphology. In recent years, we have introduced and investigated a novel and scalable strategy for enhancing the soft X-ray reflectivity of telescope mirrors used in space missions based on dip-liquid deposition of PDA thin films as carbon-rich coating (carbon 62.7 \%wt. in DA monomer) (Cotroneo, 2022). This method is very versatile and quick and offers a low-cost alternative to conventional carbon-like coating, while maintaining or even exceeding performance in the energy range below ~5 keV. Experimental tests across three X-ray beamlines—including two synchrotron facilities—demonstrated consistent reflectivity enhancement, especially in the 1-4 keV energy range and with a good match between theoretical predictions and experimental reflectivity profiles. When applied over traditional coatings (e.g Au, Ir), the dip-liquid overcoats produced improvements of up to 100\% in effective area for some specific X-ray bands compared to conventional single-metal films. However, the causes and well-being-related consequences of email load are not yet well understood, as previous studies have neglected the interaction type and function of emails as well as co-occurring stressors as antecedents of high email load and have relied predominantly on cross-sectional designs. Methods: In two studies, we aimed to clarify the nature of email load through the lens of action regulation theory. The first study, a two-wave investigation with a fortnightly interval, examined the lagged relationships among email load, work stressors, strain, and affective well-being. The sample included 444 individuals across various occupations and organizations, with 196 of them working from home or remotely at least part of the time. In the second cross-sectional study, we surveyed 257 individuals using a convenience sampling approach, 108 of whom worked from home or remotely at least partially. This study focused on evaluating how different email classes—distinguished by email interaction type (received vs. processed) and email function (communication vs. task)—serve as predictors of high email load. Results: In Study 1, we found a positive lagged effect of high email load on strain, even when controlling for the co-occurring stressors time pressure and work interruptions. In addition, lagged effects of email load on time pressure and interruptions were identified, while no evidence was found for the reverse direction. The results of Study 2 suggest that only the number of communication-related emails received, but not the number of task-related emails received, or the number of all emails processed contribute to high email load. Conclusion: Findings suggest that email load can be considered a unique stressor and that different classes of email need to be distinguished to understand its nature. These miniature satellites can carry miniature scientific payloads for high-energy observations of both astrophysical objects as well as targets in high earth atmosphere. The examples include miniature X-ray and UV telescopes monitors and cameras, but also optical and NIR payloads. Due to the recent progress in satellite control engineering, tandem flight arrangements of mini-satellites are currently in discussion and under consideration for future space missions. CubeSat technologies offer an interesting possibility for space-born telescope payloads based on this approach. In such scenario, two small satellites will fly at a constant distance of a few meters up to 100 meters. Thereby, the front satellite will carry the telescope optics and the second satellite the detector system. A second set of experiments assesses the effects of irradiation on polydopamine coatings intended for the application in space-born X-ray telescopes. The platform also contains samples of biological cells that are simultaneously exposed to low-dose radiation of different compositions of particle, X-ray and UV radiation. Post-flight nanoscopic measurements aim to examine changes in the spatial chromatin organization playing a crucial role in DNA-repair mechanisms.
