In today’s interconnected world, the dynamics of global business are shaped by a complex interplay of economic trends, political forces, cultural nuances, and technological breakthroughs. The global marketplace has undergone significant transformation, characterized by both opportunities for growth and the emergence of complex challenges. This evolving environment requires businesses, governments, and individuals to not only understand these shifts but also adopt strategic approaches to navigate them effectively
This compilation book aims to present the views of a group of academics — primarily composed of young scholars — on just some aspects of these issues. Naturally, given the complexity of both the problems and the potential solutions, it is not possible to provide comprehensive answers in just a few book chapters or even in a single volume. Nevertheless, we believe that such an initiative is important in contributing to the ongoing discussion.
This research explores the delicate balance between innovation and resilience in the tourism industry, facing both exciting opportunities and significant challenges due to factors such as economic shifts, natural disasters, changing consumer preferences, and global health crises. Tourism businesses are increasingly turning to technological advancements, sustainability initiatives, and new business models to stay competitive and meet traveller demands. Resilience is the ability to recover from adversity and adapt for long-term success. This study explores how tourism businesses balance innovation with resilience, and the factors influencing business performance and sustainability and aim to identify strategies combining innovation and resilience best practices.
The current global financial and economic crisis has created an unprecedented recession and very high employment in addition to huge environmental and social problems. All these have stimulated discussions among economists regarding the need for a new paradigm allowing »fairness«, »ethics«, »social and ecologic responsibility« and »sustainability« to come to the fore in the economic system.
Managing International Political Risk: Arising Challenges for Multinationals in a Changing World
(2018)
Political risk management is a basic area especially for multinational companies to study particularly these days. In the current global environment of high political risks and policy uncertainty, it is valuable to examine the evolution of political risk perceptions of multinationals and also the tools and techniques they use to skilfully manage such risks. It is an imperative for companies, countries, business professionals and politicians, to get together for discussion about future developments and about options for securing global solidarity to the good of people and business in existing normative frameworks.
In this respect, Würzburg International Business Forum’s International Business Conference (24-25 May 2018) brought academics, professionals, business people and representatives of the public sector from the world together to analyse the current situation, trying to foresee future developments regarding political risk management within the framework of foreign direct investment and all other activities of multinational corporations.
