Machine tool selection and quotation costing have a low level of automation in today's engineer-to-order environments. The decision-making process is based on imprecise human judgment even if all final product characteristics are known. To improve precision and save time, we propose to apply artificial neural networks that are trained on data of already produced products. In particular, we address the selection of several grinding wheels to produce a milling cutter, which is a multiple-criteria decision, using multi-label classification. The quotation costing is a single output regression problem. In both tasks, our results on real-world data show high accuracy.
Geschlechtsspezifisches Verhalten in Lieferanten-Kunden-Verhandlungen–Eine experimentelle Analyse
(2013)
(2019)
Decisions on location planning are complex strategic business decisions involving a considerable number of risks for a company´s management. To reduce the general risk of making a wrong decision literature offers a wide range of different approaches (Krebs & Reinhart, 2012). All of these methods base on one similar key fact – the decision quality increasing with the amount and detail level of the used parameters. Therefore, the conference paper addresses the finding of a general abort criterion, by finding the right decision parameters and reduce them to a reasonable number.
The term mobility has different meanings in the following science disciplines. In economics, mobility is the ability of an individual or a group to improve their economic status in relation to income and wealth within their lifetime or between generations. In information systems and computer science, mobility is used for the concept of mobile computing, in which a computer is transported by a person during normal use. Logistics creates by the design of logistics networks the infrastructure for the mobility of people and goods. Electric mobility is one of today’s solutions from an engineering perspective to reduce the need of energy resources and environmental impact. Moreover, for urban planning, mobility is the crunch question about how to optimize the different needs for mobility and how to link different transportation systems. In this publication we collected the ideas of practitioners, researchers, and government officials regarding the different modes of mobility in a globalised world, focusing on both domestic and international issues.
This article covers the development of a specific model for the end-user-based evaluation of the usability of Mobile ERP systems employing eye-tracking technology. Recent studies show that the mobile use of ERP software is significant, even though there is also room for improvement. Simultaneously, it is undisputed that ERP-specific usability models are necessary to meet the specific requirements of ERP systems. Therefore, we examine usability dimensions in the Mobile ERP context in a first, preliminary study. In addition, we investigate how eye-tracking technology can support the usability measurement for each usability dimension. Therefore, after a detailed literature analysis, a usability model for the mobile application of ERP systems (Mobile ERP) is developed. Subsequently, we summarize the results of a first explorative preliminary study with 19 test persons. The results show that the model allows the usability of mobile ERP systems to be classified and that few decisive factors contribute to the perception of good usability in ERP systems. In the third part of this paper (after literature review and usability study), we introduce an overview of eye-tracking metrics for MERP-U to examine which MERP-U dimensions eye-tracking measures.
This paper presents a model for end-user-based evaluation of the usability of mobile ERP systems. Recent studies show that the mobile use of ERP software is both, crucial for user satisfaction and still improvable for many ERP systems. Therefore, ERP-specific usability models are necessary to meet the requirements of ERP systems in comparison to e.g., apps for private use. The research objective is therefore to develop a model that enables software providers to measure and benchmark the usability of their software products. Therefore, we introduce after a literature research a usability model for the mobile application of ERP systems (mobile ERP). Our usability model is based on the widely used PACMAD model. We modify the PACMAD model for the context of ERP systems. This results in a new end-user-based model, that differs from existing models, because of its focus on end-users and the ERP context. Subsequently, the model will be tested in an initial study with 19 test persons. The results of the study indicate two main findings. Firstly, the model allows the measurement of the usability of mobile ERP systems. Secondly, some key factors substantially affect the usability of mobile ERP systems.
B. Machine Learning (ML).
Computer Vision in Reusable Container Management : Requirements, Conception, and Data Acquisition
()
In container management, the reuse of small load carriers is a business alternative to disposal carriers. Reusable container management is furthermore a solution to improve the environmental impact of the logistic industry. The sorting and stock management of small load carriers are today primarily manual work and have consequently a low level of automation. In order to increase the automation of returnable containers, it is crucial to establish a computer vision system that (i) classifies the containers and (ii) detects potential defects or stains. This paper provides an overview and a discussion of the applications that are already in use. Object detection is necessary for many actions in the container management business processes, such as inventory and stock management. Detection of defects on the small load carrier is required for scrapping the carriers to ensure a smooth process in any business process involving the carrier and to decide whether additional process steps, e.g., cleaning, are required. The literature review in this paper establishes the demand for computer vision detection and shows the project setup necessary to conduct research in this area. The comparison with other applications of defect and anomaly detection supports the applicability and shows the need for further research in this specific academic field. This leads to a project outline and the research provides the technical implementation of the detections in container management. Accordingly, the research provides a work- flow guide from data acquisition to a high-quality dataset of labeled anomalies of small load carriers.
