T1 - Deterministic versus nondeterministic design of hybrid renewable energy systems T2 - 2nd International Symposium On Environment Friendly Energies And Applications N2 - The performance of the deterministic design methods in design of reliable and cost effective standalone hybrid renewable energy systems is evaluated. Reliability in the power supply is the chief feature of a standalone hybrid renewable energy system. It is shown that the traditional methods of considering the effect of uncertainties in deterministic designs such as design for worst case scenarios and employing safety measures such as margin of safety have little impact on the actual reliability of the designed system.
