Hence, the knowledge about the energy intensity of new process technologies as metal printing becomes increasingly crucial. Therefore, data about the energy intensity of entire process chains allow a detailed assessment of the life cycle costs and environmental impact of metal printed parts. As metal printing with Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) is applied from rapid prototyping to serial manufacturing processes more and more, sustainability data are useful to support a valid scale-up scenario and energetic improvements of the 3D-printing machinery as well as peripheral aggregates used in the process chain. The contribution aims to increase the transparency of the LPBF process chain in terms of its energy consumption. Therefore a generalized model to assess sustainability aspects of metal printed parts is derived. For this purpose, the LPBF process chain with the essential pre-, main- and post-processes is evaluated regarding its energy intensity. Here, the sub-processes, for example wet and dry cleaning of the printer, sieving of the metal powder or sand-blasting of the part are analyzed as well as the main printing process. Also advanced material processing like 3D laser printing of metals and ceramics are based on a layer-to-layer process at high temperatures, resulting in non-homogeneous components. Both systems require more and more detailed investigation methods to characterise the material properties of the resulting structures and to optimize the relevant processes. To address the required needs in advanced material characterisation recently an attempt was started to develop a unique measurement set-up for advanced material characterisation. This method is based on the well know laser flash principle, which was improved by adding supplementary heating sources and additional detection channels. Combining different heating mechanism and heating times with the two-dimensional measuring of the thermal flow across the sample enables the determination of different opto-thermal parameters and other material properties, e.g. mechanical contact, electrical conductivity or optical data, which also depend on or affect the flow of heat. As a heating unit an inductor is used to warm up the specimen, as well as the blackbody reference to the specified temperatures. The heating unit is placed in a double-walled vacuum vessel. A defined temperature, as well as a homogenous temperature distribution of the whole surrounding is ensured by a heat transfer fluid flowing through the gap of the double-walled vessel. Additionally, the surrounding is coated with a high-emitting paint and serves as blackbody-like surrounding to ensure defined boundary conditions. For measuring the spectral directional emissivity at different emission angles, a movable mirror is installed in front of the specimen, which can be adjusted by a rotatable arrangement guiding the emitted radiation into the attached FTIR-spectrometer. The setup of the emissivity measurement apparatus (EMMA) and the measurement procedure are introduced, and the derived measurement results are presented. This study explores the extraction of the radiation mode field from backscattering field components of a composite right/left-handed (CRLH) leaky wave antenna (LWA) to estimate the relative angle to the radiation mode field within its frequency band of operation. Two methods, transmission line delay (TLD) and impedance loading (IL), for extracting the radiation mode from backscattering field components, are employed to isolate the radiation mode field of a CRLH LWA. In the IL method, backscattered fields are measured by terminating the CRLH LWA with short and open load impedances to express the radiation mode and structure mode field components. The TLD method uses a coaxial transmission line to connect the CRLH LWA to a high-gain X-band horn antenna, enabling isolation of the radiation mode field component from the backscattered field components, using time gating. This analysis employs two measurement setups for TLD, one in which both the CRLH LWA and the horn antenna rotate along the azimuth and the other in which only the CRLH LWA rotates. The analysis shows the frequency-angle relationship of the CRLH LWA radiation mode field, which reveals the frequency-dependent features of the CRLH LWA. Additionally, an evaluation of frequency ambiguity is done to provide more insights into the effectiveness of each approach for angle estimation of CRLH LWA relative to the incident wave.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{OladapoAdrianDaunetal., author = {Oladapo, Jeleel Alao and Adrian, Simon B. and Daun, Marian and Ebersp{\"a}cher, Mark A.}, title = {Simulation-Based Frequency-Dependent RCS Estimation of a CRLH Leaky-Wave Antenna Using Gain and Impedance-Loading Methods}, series = {2025 9th International Conference on Computational System and Information Technology for Sustainable Solutions (CSITSS)}, booktitle = {2025 9th International Conference on Computational System and Information Technology for Sustainable Solutions (CSITSS)}, publisher = {IEEE}, doi = {10.1109/CSITSS67709.2025.11295030}, pages = {1 -- 6}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{OladapoAdrianEberspaecher, author = {Oladapo, Jeleel Alao and Adrian, Simon B. and Ebersp{\"a}cher, Mark A.}, title = {Frequency-Dependent RCS Characterization of a CRLH Leaky-Wave Antenna Using Characteristic Mode Analysis}, series = {2025 Kleinheubach Conference}, booktitle = {2025 Kleinheubach Conference}, publisher = {IEEE}, doi = {10.23919/IEEECONF67516.2025.11225296}, pages = {1 -- 4}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{SturmWirthPaulusetal., author = {Sturm, Sebastian and Wirth, Isabell and Paulus, Johannes and Zink, Markus H. and K{\"u}chler, Andreas and Berger, Frank}, title = {Transient dielectric simulation in time domain with FEM in comparison with circuit models}, series = {XIX International Symposium on Theoretical Electrical Engineering, Ilmenau, 2017}, booktitle = {XIX International Symposium on Theoretical Electrical Engineering, Ilmenau, 2017}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{ZinkBergerKlipfeletal., author = {Zink, Markus H. and Berger, Frank and Klipfel, V. and K{\"u}chler, Andreas}, title = {Ageing Condition Assessment of 400 kV OIP Generator Transformer Bushings}, series = {17th ISH International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering}, booktitle = {17th ISH International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering}, address = {Hannover}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{RajnaiPuskas, author = {Rajnai, Zoltan and Pusk{\´a}s, B{\´e}la}, title = {Decision-Making Support Software Application Option for Critical Informational Infrastructures}, series = {Papers of 33rd International Scientific Conference "Science in Practice"}, booktitle = {Papers of 33rd International Scientific Conference "Science in Practice"}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:bvb:863-opus-2712}, pages = {55 -- 61}, abstract = {There can be practical question in connection with the networks: Do the malfunctions of devices, eruptions of social conflicts, devastations of biological or chemical disasters happen accidentally? This tracking allows biologists to analyze the movement decision rules of the butterfly. Our butterfly video-screening and tracking system consists of a matrix of 6 stereo camera systems. The screening area is 4x3 meters. The tracking begins with a preprocessing algorithm, which is robust against the inhomogeneous background and optical distortions caused by the natural environment like moving shadows, change of illumination and color: The preprocessing algorithm works with grayscale images to eliminate the influence of the color changes. It adjusts the average intensity of consecutive images and calculates their difference image. So the influence of the inhomogeneous background and the shadows is greatly reduced. The reprocessing is followed by algorithms for thresholding, temporal tracking and calculation of the 3D-position using two corresponding images of the stereo camera systems. Results show, that the algorithms work robustly in spite of the inhomogeneous background and the optical distortions. The performance of the dielectric system in newly produced power transformers must satisfy the requirements of both full and chopped wave tests. To conduct these tests, standard full and chopped impulses are generated using the well-known Marx generator. The wave shape parameters of these impulses must fulfil the requirements that are specified in international standards such as IEC 60076. The excessive voltage collapse rate as well as the high amplitude of the first peak of the resulting overswing following the chopping time, highly stress the dielectric system of the power transformers. To resolve these issues, external elements may be added to the chopping circuit. These additional elements are essential in stabilizing the waveform by preventing excessive voltage collapse rate and controlling the peak of the first swing after chopping. Furthermore, some transformers with high power ratings may possess windings with very low inductance or high capacitance, which can undesirably impact the shape and parameters of the resulting full wave. To address these critical situations and bring the full wave parameters within the allowed limits, engineers in high-voltage laboratories employ some compensators like the Glaninger circuit in impulse circuits. It is important to study the effects of such compensators on chopped impulse parameters. This paper aims to investigate the impact of the mentioned external elements and compensators on the parameters of the chopped wave impulses. Specifically, the study focuses on assessing the influence of these compensators on voltage collapse and the peak amplitude of the first swing after chopping. Hence the design of the DC insulation systems becomes more and more difficult. The difference between HVDC and HVAC insulation systems is that in HVAC the electrical field is distributed according to the permittivities of the materials. Permittivity is only weakly dependent on temperature, so there is no significant difference between the electrical field distribution at room temperature and operating temperature of the insulation system. In HVDC however the electrical field is distributed according to the conductivities of the insulation materials whereas the conductivity is strongly dependent on temperature. This can lead to completely different field distributions at varying temperatures. The investigations presented here show simulation results of HVDC bushing cores in comparison with measurements on those test objects. Simulations and measurements were performed both for temperature distributions and electric potentials of the grading layers in the bushing at DC voltage. For the first time, it was shown by experiment that the FEM simulation can reproduce real DC field distributions very well. It was also shown, that there is a strong influence of temperature gradients or temperature transients on transient and steady-state electrical potential distribution inside the insulation.}, language = {en} } @incollection{KuechlerSchoberLiebschneretal., author = {K{\"u}chler, Andreas and Schober, F. and Liebschner, M. and Berger, Frank and Exner, W. and Krause, Ch. and Fritsche, R. and Wimmer, R.}, title = {Dielectric Behaviour of HVDC Insulating Materials, Polarization and Conduction Processes in Mineral Oil and in Pressboard Impregnated with Different Fluids}, series = {19th International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering}, booktitle = {19th International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering}, address = {Pilsen, Czech Repbulic}, language = {en} } @incollection{KuechlerHarrerSchoberetal., author = {K{\"u}chler, Andreas and Harrer, S. and Schober, F. and Staab, T. and Sextl, G. and Exner, W. and Krause, Ch.}, title = {Influence of Water Content of Cellulosic Material on Dielectric Behaviour of HVDC insulation}, series = {19th International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering}, booktitle = {19th International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering}, address = {Pilsen, Czech Repbulic}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{KuechlerSchoberBergeretal., author = {K{\"u}chler, Andreas and Schober, F. and Berger, Frank and Exner, W. and Krause, Ch.}, title = {Pressboard in HVDC Transformer Insulation}, series = {SIP2013 International Conference Science in Practice}, booktitle = {SIP2013 International Conference Science in Practice}, address = {Bremen}, pages = {27 -- 29}, language = {en} } @book{Kuechler, author = {K{\"u}chler, Andreas}, title = {Hochspannungstechnik}, edition = {3}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Dordrecht, Heidelberg, London, New York}, language = {de} } @book{Kuechler, author = {K{\"u}chler, Andreas}, title = {Hochspannungstechnik}, edition = {2}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {Berlin, Heidelberg, New York}, language = {de} } @book{Kuechler, author = {K{\"u}chler, Andreas}, title = {Hochspannungstechnik}, publisher = {VDI}, address = {D{\"u}sseldorf}, language = {de} } @incollection{KuechlerLiebschnerReumannetal., author = {K{\"u}chler, Andreas and Liebschner, M. and Reumann, Andreas and Krause, Ch. and Piovan, U. and Heinrich, B. and Fritsche, R. and Hoppe, J. and Langens, Achim and Titze, J.}, title = {Evaluation of conductivities and dielectric properties for highly stressed HVDC insulating materials}, series = {CIGR{\´E} Session 2010}, booktitle = {CIGR{\´E} Session 2010}, address = {Paris}, language = {en} } @incollection{KuechlerReumannLiebschneretal., author = {K{\"u}chler, Andreas and Reumann, Andreas and Liebschner, M. and Langens, Achim and Titze, J.}, title = {{\"U}berwachung von Hochspannungsdurchf{\"u}hrungen durch Online-Monitoring und dielektrische Diagnose gealterter OIP-Isolierungen}, series = {ETG-Fachbericht 119}, booktitle = {ETG-Fachbericht 119}, publisher = {VDE}, address = {D{\"u}sseldorf}, language = {de} }
